well i think yall should quit complaining. there is a reason for these copyright laws, and youtube has no choice, but to try to enforce them. vimeo and all the other video sites will do the same thing if they get as popular as youtube. i just recommend being a little smarter than to put real mainstream songs in your videos. you also have to look at it this way, the other path youtube could have taken would be to remove the video completely. wouldn't you rather them at least leave it on there in mute than remove it completely?
Well, I'm not blaming YouTube itself for doing this, its not in thier hands .. wat I'm saying is that they should offer better solutions than just tht AudioSwap thing, why not let the user upload another audio track or just audio swap the part with the copyrighted song instead of replacing the whole thing.
And yeah as Ed said if ur not making money of ur video thn why this WMG company really bothers using their music, its just not the right decision.
the problem is unless you put up an original song or a song you actually have permission to use, it is still copyrighted. the reason they don't let you replace the audio with a song of your choice, is that they think you will just use a different copy righted song(which is true, because almost every song is copyrighted.) the only thing youtube could possibly do better is provide more audio swaps, or get permission by some artist(maybe more unkown artist, so it will increase their popularity) to use their songs as choices for audio swap. also like i said in my first comment, the majority of the songs being deleted are very well-known songs whether they are old or new, so they don't need the extra exposure. it doesn't really matter that none of us are making money or selling our videos for the copyright infringement thing. thats the whole reason file sharing is illegal eventhough no one is making money off of it. just try to use lesser known artists in your videos, and they probably won't get muted. it also makes your video more entertaining if you use a song that people aren't familiar with instead of something you hear everyday.
