wtf are you deaf? only death metal etc is grunting etc. heavy metal and powermetal often have very clean vocals. they can sing better than those dudes that tell 'stories before the sleeping' often with an annoying beat which they call music. also they must sigh, say 'yeah' and moan when as much as possible when they are not talking. also, they must have big cars and chicks in their vids that are not theirs.

i know what i said about rap is not all true but here you see that rap has also many biases. so don't say metal is all useless screaming. metallica's 'nothing else matters' is higher in music ranking lists than any rapper can dream of.

it shouldn't be an argument on which style is better, because they both offer some quality. it is actually which artists from the genre are quality. there are rap acts like the roots and some underground rappers that not many people know of which i enjoy listening to, and there are metal bands like slayer, pantera, and others which i enjoy. on the which bands are metal, all of the ones that were mentioned including lost prophets could be considered metal especially if you look at what metal originally was. metal has just become more extreme in general since the days of black sabbath and deep purple. and ya royal its normal for people to go through different stages in the music they enjoy listening to. i used to mainly enjoy listening to classic rock and folk music, but now i prefer jazz and samba, but i still like most of the songs i used to like just for some reason i'm more likely to choose to listen to these things now.

of course i know that arguing has no effect, but i don't like it when people say false things about metal.
and @ george: have any rapper performed a concert (their own concert so no festival or something) for 250.000 people. maiden have in 2001 (rock in rio), also metal bands are not commercial like many rappers. metal artist try to make good music and don't really care how much people buy them (fans of big bands like metallica, iron maiden etc will buy them anyway) rappers that have a label often are under pressure when they don't sell and then try to make some commercial songs to please their managers.

but i know i can't say one is better than the other. i admit that there are good rappers, not all is bad. but please people don't tell biased things about metal that aren't true

Make that 25 years  :cheers: and have sold an estimate of 125 Million albums.

The highest albums sold by a rapper is Eminem something between 75 - 99 million albums.

I prefer Metal and Rock by a long way but still like some rap.

me, id prefer rap over metal and second of the hour, and hour of the day, any day of the week, any week of the month, any month of the year, any year of the decade, and decade of the century, and century of..... you get the point

i think it all comes down to personal preferance, so there is no point arguing about which is better, personally in dont see how anyone can listen to metal, or rock.

There are some good rock songs, but i dont listen to them either lol

  Music has no boundaries to me. I'm very open to all styles of music and listen Rap & Rock both and enjoy both. However I am more towards Rap and R&b just because its usually easier to listen too,catchier.
