This thread fits better in the tech board, I'd say.

My desktop:

PB: Ubuntu, right? Looks stylish. What advantages does it have, compared to XP or Vista, other than looks?

yes.

pros:  it's not NEARLY as bulky.  i can have a lot of control over the OS.  a shit ton of free open source applications.  you can, through a variety of programs, run a lot of windows programs (through wine and other programs i.e. you can run many games intended for windows).  very few problems with security (you have to login to your root account.  so, anything installed on your computer requires your password...among other things).  it's free (although, that's really a non-issue.  not too many people "pay" directly for windows)

and, you could probably run ubuntu w/o ever accessing the command line (although, i don't see the point)

cons:  it can get complicated

in short, it works well for me and for the computer that i run it on.  plus, i have a desktop in my room that runs xp.  so, if i ever need to do something in windows, i can just go through that computer.

Sounds pretty awesome, PB. Thanks for the information. I'm going to try it on my old computer whenever I have time.

Press "PrtSc" or "Print Screen" on your keyboard -> Open Paint -> Press ctrl + v then ctrl + s and save it wherever you want.
