Help on Crossover part of TATW!
« on: Apr 16, 2009, 10:57: PM »
Hi guys, I've been trying to attempt a TATW for some time now, what i don't understand is the part where it is required to crossover. Firstly, I know how to do a normal crossover and of course atw's , however during normal crossover, i have my right leg on the ground, so my left leg could easily crossover ( i use my left leg to crossover ) because there is SUPPORT.

However! I really do not understand how during TATW, because my right leg is doing the ATW, there isn't any right leg to support the ground now, and i totally do not know how to crossover with just jumping off with my left leg.

In simple terms, during NORMAL XOVER, i have right leg on ground to support so i can easily jump off my left leg and crossover.  During TATW XOVER, i do NOT have my right leg on ground to support and there is only my left leg to jump on its own <-- that's where i can't do a crossover..

Thanks for any help or advice on this! I'm really keen on learning freestyle!

Hey man, welcome to our forum!
I've had this problem too when I started doing tatw's.. You feel as if it is impossible to kick the ball in the air with your foot.
My advice, which was the best for me, is to jump off very strongly/fast/hard with your left foot. This makes it easier to kick the ball in the crossover motion of the trick, because your right foot "keeps staying at the same point", I mean it does not keep on going to the ground, which makes it easier to touch the ball again and kick it up in the air. I know it is annoying, but you have to practice it for some time until you will get it. Nothing comes from nothing. Just keep it up, I mean we all managed to do it, I'm very confident you will be able to as well!
Good luck man.

Thanks for the advice! But i think i can kick it up again after an atw with my right leg, problem is , i really do not know how to crossover my left leg!

Simply put, imagine im sitting down now, with both my legs on ground. During a normal crossover, i can easily just lift my left leg and crossover my right ( try doing that sitting down ) because i have my right leg to support. However, imagine ur right leg is now in the air ( which is the case for TATW ) , i do not know how to crossover my left leg without any support! >_<

help! thanks in advance! =)

it took me like FOREVER to learn tatw, but in the end, i managed it. simply, the way to learn it is to do it a countless amount of times, and you'll manage  sometime, that's how i learned it. and i watched a tutorial, so i knew the technique.

oh, i think i know ur problem, ur doing the motion like atw-htw which is rong.

once ur 3/5 over the ball jump, not wen 3/4, 4/5 but 3/5 over the ball. this is very important. GL
theres a begginer question thread btw, and im sure it has heaps of answeres 4 this

So do you still need some help?
"Matheson bases his descriptions of the death experience itself on studies by Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross and Raymond Moody.[6] When reading these accounts, Matheson found that revived suicides told a much more frightening story than anyone else who had near death experiences."
