Handball rule

The handball rule needs to change. Or at least the referees should change the way they interpret this rule.

Apparently it is handball if you have your arms in an unnatural position and the ball hits your arm. It does not matter how fast the ball is moving, or if you saw the ball coming. Ok this seems fair, but the interpretation by referees is the problem.

What is an unnatural arm position? If a player jumps to get a high ball and the ball accidentally hits his arm most referees say handball because your arms must go up while jumping. Are you gaining an unfair advantage if a ball hits your arm in this position.......BY MISTAKE?!!

It is far more unnatural if you jump with your arms at your side.

Yeah it's a shit rule. By unnatural I would think its more like unintentional. As long as its accidental it's not a handball. Done.

I believe Adi has the correct way the rule is written. The thing is they do consider it a hand ball if you put your arms up when you know a player is about to strike the ball and it hit your arms whether you see the ball or not. This is where the unnatural arm position comes into play. If I am rushing out to block your shot, and I jump turn my back and my arms go up, the ball strikes my arm, it's a hand ball. If I rush out turn my head and my arms are pretty much by my side, the ball strikes my arm, not a hand ball. Confusing, but hey, lets talk about the offsides rule. That one is a bit more interesting.

at the same time you would be screaming bloody murder if you were the shooter if the defender's hand blocked your shot. It's a double edged sword whichever way you look at it. As long as the referee is consistent with how harsh he calls it, it's ok.

If your arm isnt against your body and you touching ball with it (unintentional) negatively affects the play for the opposing team it should always be fault. Ofc no yellow card is needed if its unintentional but you cant ignore it.
