Matches on television in HD
« on: Nov 02, 2010, 06:38: AM »
I live in the States where soccer is obviously not the most popular of spectator sports, and that makes it hard to find good coverage on television.  Yes, we have Fox Soccer Channel and GolTV, but even though they're "available in HD," most cable/fiber providers DON'T purchase the HD streams and still broadcast the beautiful game in less-than-beautiful Low Def.

I've read that SOME markets have FSC/FSC+/GolTV in HD, whether the provider is Verizon FiOS or Brighthouse or Comcast or Cox or whatever... but sadly, not at my house.  Grrrrr:  this big, bad HDTV in my living room and such disappointing picture quality.

So the question... do you get decent soccer coverage on t.v. and if so, (aside from ESPN which IS in HD, yay), is any or much of it in high definition?  I've been curious about this for a long while.

Cheers!

I'm with you on that one... I have a nice Samsung HD TV and have HD channels, but don't have FSC in HD.  I have non-HD GolTV at my parent's house but even they don't have it in HD.  I'm using U-verse right now.  After 6 months, my great deal with them will end and I might switch over to Time Warner.  They have both GolTV and FSC in HD and I think it's free or really cheap.
