Is this ball good to start with?
« on: Aug 10, 2010, 11:59: AM »
Hey guys, I started freestyling yesterday and had to get a ball.
So I went to my local sports shop and bought the cheapest ball they had (8 euros), just to try freestyling out a little.
Now 2 days and some freestyling later I started wondering whether the ball is too terrible to actually make a start with, as it barely has padding and barely bounces on my feet.

I don't want a really pricey ball but am willing to spend a little more if the ball is just too bad to make a serious start with.

This is the ball:

Edit:Image doesn't seem to work, this is the link to the image:  http://www.intersport.nl/products/VOETBAL_FORCE_-20434-19858.html

Oh and uhh, I've got some nike total 90 shoes, are they any good?

The ball you use quite alot about personal preference, but matchballs do feel quite alot better.

the problem with replicas or cheap balls in my opinion is that most of them are quite slippery, but for just normal juggling it's no problem really. cheap balls also wear out alot quicker.

So either get an old matchball cheap, like the europass. I got mine for about 40 euro wich isn't that much compared to the new jabulani that went for like 90 euro. then you wont need to buy a new ball for a long time if you're careful with it.

Also if you have a good ball you won't be blaming the ball for misstakes you do, you wont be going "damn I messed up because of the ball" so a good ball also gives a little confidence boost. well all my opinion so it's up to you.

Good luck : D.

Edit: as for the ball you linked, it's probably fine looks a little bit slippery to me but it doesn't matter much. don't think about it too much and just go practise.

that balls fine, any ball is fine. I started with a replica, the worst kind, and after a few weeks of practcising, i thought it was a good ball. I have bought a molten matchball, but only because i like balls and want to make a collection, i still use the replica quite alot.

You have to remember that its not the ball, or shoes, its the play. Although i dont reccomend trying fs in huge black gothic boots or anything.
