avg age on the field--25 w/some statiscal outliers that will probably be bled out by the end of qualifying
way in which we won (we didn't sit around and counter.  we genuinely had the majority of the run of play)
this game always means something to both sides
we started out the hex qualifying round well (this is very important)
we never really have a "home" game against mexico

looking back, it doesn't really mean say that we haven't already known, but it was nice to see some of the younger players (really just michael bradley) come into their own against mexico.

maybe.  it just makes it a lot easier now.  "we" drop this game, and "we" must win a few on the road.  as much as people shit on concacaf, that's a bitch.

fair points i suppose
however the azteca isnt a shithole.. its a fuckin legendary stadium.. seriously theres barely any stadiums in the workd left with that sort of amazing history
now they just sell themselves to corporate bitches so you have stadiums with shit names like the
Tootsie-Roll Bowl
Corn flakes dome
Lays chips arena

azteca is owned by a mexican television company.  they've tried to change the name.  i think the name is "officially" changed

oh, that's not why i think azteca is a shithole.  sure it has a lot of history, but it sucks to have the team i support have to play there.  7800 ft + smog + piss bags = fucking bullshit

that's more sour grapes on my part than anything fwiw.  you're pretty much right on the money

that's not why

Quote
The stadium is owned by Mexican TV consortium Televisa. In order to avoid
people associating the stadium’s name with that of its competition TV Azteca
Televisa officially changed the stadium’s name to “Guillermo Cañedo”, a top
executive and long-time football advocate at Televisa. The change took place
in early 1997, following Cañedo’s death (January 20, 1997). However the
change did not go well with the general population, who generally refused to
refer to the stadium by its alleged new name. Following a schism where two of
Cañedo’s sons, who worked at Televisa, switched camps and went to TV
Azteca,Televisa quietly returned the stadium’s name to its original version.
Some people did not even notice, as they usually referred to the stadium as
“Azteca” (a tribute name to the Aztec heritage of Mexico City); during the
name change
