Knee dislocation
« on: Jun 12, 2008, 08:46: PM »

Brrrrrraaapppp!

Any of you suffered a knee disloacation?

I was playing 6-a-side a couple days ago, i went in for a tackle and before i got up i could feel my knee had dislocated.

So i stood up and tried to put weight on it. Wasn't happening.

So i stood on my left leg for a short while, wiggled my knee and it popped back into place, then i played another 30 mins of footie lol totally unaffected.

I went to the nurse and she confirmed why it happened, so here's a little help for any freestylers to avoid such a thing happening:

If you do tricks on one leg/foot, MAKE TOTALLY SURE you use the left/right peg too.
If you work the right foot predominantly, then the weight is on the left foot, so the left knee gets built up, as in the muscles and ligaments.
But the right stays where it was, and with the unusual movements necessary for some tricks you really gotta work both feet to keep both knees and leg muscles tuned (which seems pretty obvious i know but it's truth).

also do some wieght training, sounds dumb but strap a weight of some kind onto the ankle and then lift up and down from the knee.

If you suffer a knee injury like i did, DO NOT try to do as little exercise for a good few days (2-3).
And strap it up a little!

Wishing for no injuries

peace!

Lucky you man. You could have easily torn a ligament. Glad you are OK though... I wouldn't wish a torn ligament on anyone.

thanx man.

i thought it was fucked at the time my self, and then i managed to play, i don't think any one else believed it at the time lol!

but i was very fortunate, and like you say i'd never wish an injury upon another person, i ripped up the ankle ligaments in my right ankle a good 3-4 years ago, and no football for 3 months... :cursing:

but i rested it good and didn't rush back, i think that's key never rush back if you know you're not 100%.

peace!

I would wish for more worse than that on some people.
