Italy lost their 4th position in the champ league to germany recently, so this will be interesting. If Inter wins they would have knocked out 2 german teams in one year.
Uefa's crazy co-efficient points system is flawed if you ask me. The only reason Germany has a 4th spot in champ league now is because their teams have been doing better in Europa league. While both German and Italian teams have failed in Champ League, except bayern and inter who both were in the final last year.
You can't count Europa league performances to determine who should play champ league IMO.

Italian football is shit and their teams have constantly failed in Europe over the past 7 years.  Now that the early 2000s and late 1990s are out of the coefficients, Germany rightfully deserves the spot.  The league has full stadiums, great fans, and an exciting style of play and lots of teams competing for the top spots.  Italy is rubbish and nobody watches it anymore.  Inter should never have beaten Bayern.

I hate Schalke but hope they beat Inter somehow.

Germany deserve the extra spot only because there is no one else to give it too. Italy standards have dropped only recently because of the Calciopoli scandal......and in the past 7 years Italian teams have done better on the champions league than German teams. Besides Bayern, every one of them have failed. Werder Bremen, Schalke, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Leverkusen have all been poor.
IMO having an exciting league and good Europa League performances do not mean they are ready to roll with the big boys in champ league
But I must admit German teams have more potential now than Italian teams so it is deserved......barely

How do you figure you did better in European competition?  The coefficients come directly from UEFA competitions and Germany has outdone Italian teams in the past 7 years.  That's why the 4th spot is going to Germany.  It has nothing to do with their league.

no i just mentioned the German league because you mentioned it in your previous post. I was just saying that it doesn't matter if they have an exciting league.
Also, I didn't say Italian teams do better overall in European competition. I said they do better in Champions league over the last 7 years. I was questioning why UEFA include Europa League (formerly UEFA cup) performances in the co-efficient points calculation to determine who gets a 4th Champions league spot.
I can't remember any german team getting past the round of 16 in the last 7 years , besides bayern ofc

Yeah, they look at Europa Cup and UEFA Cup the same way.  The same number of points is given for each competition.  German teams have done better in Europa Cup while Italian teams had more success in the Champions League.

I guess Germany has better depth while Italy might be more talented at the very top.  You can argue it either way I guess.

5-2 to schalke!!  I didn't see the game but i can't even imagine how this happened. I heard some inter fans saying chivu is the worst defender in the world.  Job is not done though an inter comeback is not impossible.....even though leonardo said he thinks it is all over

Unbelievable and completely out of nowhere.  Schalke is fighting relegation in Germany.

Love the result!  Hate Inter.  Can't believe Bayern chocked against them.
