hey guys, i couldn't see where the topic had been moved to but today i was re-thinking through what i tried to explain in this topic previously and i think i 'cracked' what is is i was trying to explain and found a nicer way to explain it....
i hope now it's much easier to understand for everybody - and I am also sure the theory is correct.
So for those of you don't know we have something called muscle memory. It is what it sounds like, our muscles remember movements they have done before - it is relevant in almost everything. e.g. a piano player will learn a piece and once they have played it quite a few times they stop thinking about it in their heads, they just play it....this is muscle memory. The same goes for freestyle, once you have learnt htw your muscle memory knows it - therefore making it virtually unfailable as long as you are in the right state of mind (of course you can fail a htw, there are several issues such as tiredness, nerves etc which could lead you to do so)
so here comes my theory...when you move onto harder tricks, the way in which you can master them is by 'fooling' your legs into using it's muscle memory - your brain has to fool your legs into thinking one movement (e.g a PATW) is in fact two movements that the muscle memory already knows perfectly (atw latw nt). When you have done this enough times the new trick (patw in this case) is then remembered by the muscle (this means you will be able to do the trick with the correct technique every try. in patw's case it does not mean you will be able to do it every try because tiredness etc will play a part...)
This idea is applicable to pretty much all hardcore lower tricks/combos. I hope it will help you!
