What do you think designates a freestyler as Beginner,Intermediate,Advanced, or a Master?
-
Lower example
Beginner
You're learning to do some tricks. You can do tatw, matw, amatw and some other easy beginner tricks
Intermediate
You have done your first nt combo (co matw/tatw/amatw/atatw) and you can do some longer combos aswell without using a crossover/xover/reverse cross
Advanced
You can do some of the more difficult lower combos (tatw amatw amatw, amatw amatw amatw)
Master
Skora, FX, Szymo, Rocco or Azun level. When you are at this level either nobody can repeat what you can do or only a very few amount of people can.
I believe that there should be more steps because the jumps are rather large but that's just my opinion.
-
i totally agree with you oLi
-
what u say oLi is in terms of lower freestyle combos
-
master on new shits
-
skill level is just part of it, showmanship, style, variety in tricks etc. are also important factors in being a great freestyler

With that filosofi freestylers like Mr Woo, Abbas Farid etc is beginner in freestyle? :dontknow:
EDIT: I saw that you was pointing to just lower! My excuse! And i agree with that list!
-
but i also think that jonny22222 has a point, skill ain't all in freestyle
-
what u say oLi is in terms of lower freestyle combos
sits r easy to learn
and oli i disagree with u
-
Yeah i dont like the way people immediately assumed that it was about Lower Body skill level.
Thats rather stupid.
Need to be more specific and think about things lads, your only making these worse.

beginners are guys that are beginning. beginners learn simple tricks like atw, crossover, toebounce, neckstall, headstall, and other shit like that. tatw, matw, and amatw are not beginner tricks.

ur right hehu. there's an obvious reason there are far less sits masters like abdullah, mattmatt, and linder; while there are far more top level lowers freestylers. i honestly think that all of them are pretty much equally difficult just in different ways. lowers rely more on quickness, sits touch, and uppers control and balance. for me judging level would be like this: beginners can do easy tricks and haven't been freestyling long, intermediates are consistent at easy tricks and can do some advanced tricks, advanced is consistent at some advanced tricks, and masters have extreme consistency at various types of advanced tricks in all areas.

um........no they are not
out of all 3 things sits r the easiest
the reason that there are less masters of sits is because they get really boring

tatw, matw, and amatw are not beginner tricks.
 they kinda aren't but also kinda are cuz they are pretty easy to learn when u first start :boxing:

+ karma ...also some beginners don't know about ''sitdowns'' and see most videos and do airs
-
yall are just obsessed with lowers. most beginners probably can't even juggle while sitting down(its easier to do atw, cross, and htw than juggle while sitting.) becoming as good as abdullah at sits is just as hard as becoming as good as skora at lowers or dan magnus at uppers. they are all difficult in their own ways, its just what you as an individual become comfortable with more. just curious, how do sits get really boring? compared to lowers which unless you really know each trick really does look the same to most people. sits many great variations like crosses, shins, head, shoulders, soles, and more. all-around freestyle is most important.
-
I like sits more then lowers but lowers are a lot harder in many ways. Sits is just a matter of getting used to it and as long as uer legs go around it and get used to it then sits will become very easy, on the other hand lowers are very stressful and are very tiring when doing hardcore combos or even intermediate combos and need lots of practice to get used to it. In conclusion the only reason y ppl say that sits are easier is just because simply they can do them better then lowers but lowers are a lot harder!

I agree that there are so many skill sets with what qualifies a beginner and a master of freestyle. To determine it based only on which tricks one can do is a bit too simplistic and needs more specification. For me a master like skora for example not only exemplifies the hardest tricks, but he sets the bar higher with every video and LP. The masters of freestyle are those who have done something different for the sport. They are innovative and do not simply do what has been done as they constantly setting the bar higher with new tricks and variations. Azun for example not only can do crazy nt combos like on oli's list, but he set forth new patw combos that were never done before. Masters are those people that will be remembered in freestyle for creating new styles and tricks, not simply those who can do nt hardcore combos. Not to mention they do these things with great style and personality.

u make it boring because all beginner sitdowner's do is latws atws and shit combos which is stupid, and depends what u meen by easiest, to master??? no. nobody has really gone beyond the basics of sitdowns untill lately, sits have more to them then meets the eye so many variations and creative tricks and it will take years to master. Juggling siting down is harder then standing up. And inorder to try to do sitdowns u relly must know the basics of lowers nobody goes into fs and just starts doing sits they first do lowers and learn basics like atw which are easy tricks then they expand and do sits, learning to juggle siting is much harder then standing. the end
, there is a whole new level to be unleashed in sits just like palle unleashed crazy nt combos

I think why ppl say sits are easy is coz all they do are cross-xover-revers cross-shin-head-knee...
you know, the BASICS
does Abdullah do those till now? no, he goes way beyond normal cross combos
All three (or four I should say, coz ground moves is a form of freestyle) are as hard in their own way.
you won't really be a master in any of them unless you dedicate yourself to any of them
like for instance, abdullah is only a master at sits, Skora at Air combos, Magnus at uppers
that shows each of them are as hard as each other coz you have to dedicate yourself to one of them to be a master at one of them
(you get what I mean, my brain is all fuzzy so my english is messed up)
the ultimate best freestyler would dedicate like 3 hours to each of them each day

yea so there are categories of freestyle, but to seperate them completely and talk like this is just silly. the best freestylers will incorporate them all. the best of them will know how to transition from one to the next so each and every moves are a segment of a cohesive unit that is his routine.

i am a master
everybody else is beginner

fs is about many things
style, showmanship, lowers, uppers, sits, soles
not just lowers olly
rofl :hello:

Somebody said Sits are the easiest and there are not so many "Masters" because Sits get boring......
If they get boring thats fine, your opinion, but to say they are the easiest to learn is total bullshit.
And my opinion is that combos get boring.
-
freestyle is what you want it to be about
thats y its freestyle
uppers,lower,sits
-
in general terms oLi's list is spot on
but there needs to be more than 3 steps.
for example i wud say im intermediate but i cant do long combos without crossover
so its different for everybody

Well if its based only on Lower, then you guys are basically saying that:
The likes of Mr.Woo/Nam/Séan/JK/Abbas are Intermediate Skill Level Freestylers just because they dont do hardcore lowers ?
You guys need a wake up call, those kinds of Freestylers are more Masters of Freestyle than combo freestylers will ever be, simple truth.

I did one for lower only because that's where it's easiest to see a clear pattern of what one learns first and what comes after and it's also very easy to compare difficulty.
And don't put words in my mouth because I didn't say shit of what you wrote. I gave an example where I explain the different stages of skill level in lower. I never claimed any of those that you mentioned are at an interemediate level. In lower they are, most deffinately, but then where as we start discussing performance level they might be classed as masters.
-
exactly.... OLI GAVE A FUCKING EXAMPLE... THERE WAS NO NEED TO MAKE 20 POST SAYING THE SAME: FS IS NOT ONLY ABOUT LOWERS... CUZ OLI KNOW THAT...HE IS A VERY WISE MAN

Why didnt give examples of areas other than Lower ?
Maybe you dont care about anything else but Lower ?

In my opinion you should be ashamed of this post. You jumped to conclusions and comented on a post which you havn't even read. Tom did the same thing then he read the whole post. Atleast he was man enough to see his mistake.
Why didnt give examples of areas other than Lower ?
Maybe you dont care about anything else but Lower ?
Because writing one for freestyle in general, including all styles, is too difficult.

ha ha

what are you laughing at?
if you ever log on again ill kick the shit out of you
just kidding hahaha i cudnt help myself
back on topic,
guys take it easy
its just an example, lowers are easy to class at certain levels, imagine trying to do a list for uppers it would be impossible

No.
Beginner: Neck stall - neck catch - shoulder stall
Intermediate: ATM - 1 side head - 1-2 eye stall - kiss the ball
Advanced: Side headstall (more than 5) Eyestalls = (more than 5)
Master: Cheek stall - tophead (not for 5 second) lots of side and eyestall, as well lots of atm, 360 and all the body moves.
-
Thank you Brizze.
oLi: This just proves that you favour Lowers in anything, see how easy it could have been to mention all the styles ?
But you didnt. Y?
And this "man enough" thing....get a grip man, you treat your job here as moderator a bit too serious, same way you treat lowers.
-
haha i guess im wrong, that was fuckin perfect Brizze!
why doesnt someone do one for every aspect and we have a sticky topic and ppl can see what level they are at?

That's so true, imo style & creativity is the most important, but maybe you could write it down just for fun if ppl would want to.

What does that make Emovek, We1rd, luki and Gomez? They can do stuff 10 times the difficulty of the master level.
NO??? they does the exact same thing what a master needs to do ? As I wrote LOTS of nearly everything.
There are tricks like SS orbit that I've only seen Emo do. And there's this by Lukmistrz http://se.youtube.com/watch?v=ClmzWsZ3XWs&feature=channel_pagehttp://se.youtube.com/watch?v=hUF9HZ5PGwM&feature=channel_page
ss orbit looks better when super syed does it.
btw, uppers is more than just stall tricks. uppers is much more difficult when upper juggles are incorporated with stall moves as well.

i am a master
everybody else is beginner
True!
Well,if someone does a combo with 50 moves and the 20 tricks of the combo are cross...
What is his level?
-
A Master Freestyler creates own tricks and style. :rockit:
End of story!
-
this is silly reading.
and for those who pick on aircombos... ever though that sit can be borring too when everyone learn the abdullah move, like everyone did learn tatw amatw?
it can be creative airmoves, and it can be creative sits and so on.. respect for all styles.
seems to me everyone just protect their own style!
nobody master all styles, its impossible! (JF? come one give me a break, he is no master in aircombos )
freestyle is no rank, no level!
peace!

good post azun
i think that sums it up
-
yeah, great azun!
you cleared things up
-
Lower example

Other wise you mean, that JF isnt the best at lowers wich me and everybody agree's with let me tell you something: I dont think he is bad at airmove's... he is not the best in the world, but 1 year ago in the jimmy and JF video, he did a 60 move combo using 4 cross overs, wich makes it easier, but dont make it a beginner combo either....
so personally, I think JF has good lowers...specially perfect control at them... tell me... is everybody capable to do 85 atw's in 1 minute at the very first try in front of 10000 ppl and lots of cameras surrounding him??.. I don't think so...
back on topic I agree completly with you azun... +karma for it...

i think JF is the best FSer because of his capability to do tricks live. He has also got an extreme control.
But i wuoldn't say that he's the best lower FSer in the world. He is very good, but not best.
He is also very good on uppers and sits, i think

then let's see it. let's see more ppl at his level gettin all the work and recognition that he's getting. if you can't do tricks live then what good is it? just making videos in ur backyard amounting to nothing but internet praises? pretty pointless if you ask me.

No I didn't. You try to modify the post I just quoted by adding something and you'll see it'll say on the bottom that you have modify it.
Does it say anywhere on the bottom that I have modified the post? No, it does not. Therefore you my son just got owned. Please be quiet unless you are certain of what you speak of. Please step back in line for the "get owned by oLi counter". Thanks.

if ppl wants to practise in the backyard for the sickness, just let them do it.
if they want to test their abilletys and possebilletys,- let them.
It's non of your concern what ppl theyself wants to do.
you should have more respect for them seizing more tricks and shizzels into the game
-
It's impossible to set an answer for who's a beginner and who aren't. Freestyle is many things and some one might be a master in sits (like Matte Linder) but not a master in lowers. Where to place him then? Although, there's a few baselines you can set, but no body will be exactly like what the baselines says.

ur trying to divide the hardcore extreme tricks and live performances.
i'm not doing that.
if they just wanna do it for the fun of it that's fine, but if you can't land ur tricks consistently it doesn't matter, and that's what live shows are about, whether you do hardcore combos or stylish control tricks.
