Adressing your other points: Hamas' main perogative for years has NOT been to defend palestine and get the plaestinians land, it has been to attack Israel. I always have to cite the same example: in the late 1990s Israeli leader Ehud Barak offered Arafat the Gaza Strip AND most of the West Bank, but Arafat refused due to pressure from extremist groups like Hamas. Hamas has never done anything concrete to actually HELP the palestinian people...all they've ever done is wage ideological warfare on Israel. Israel has sometimes overreacted, I'll give you that. Hamas has never tried to improve the socio-economic situation in Palestine, and have used their funds for weapons instead of medical care and food for their people who they are supposedly 'trying to defend.'
Now for your comment about Jews being preferred over Muslims (sympathy-wise): are you out of your fucking MIND? It is now a trend in Europe and North America to point out any little misstep Israel makes and make it sound as if Israel is instigating some sort of bloody apocalypse. Still, though, Ehud Barak kept faith, but Arafat would not accept the offer of land that Barak made (a great portion of Israel) due to the influence of Hamas. And Israel promoted the recent democratic elections in Palestine.
I don't list the stuff they've done wrong because it's obvious. The fence. Ocupying Gaza. Not responding to terrorist attacks with enough caution for the innocent people caught in the crossfire. Allowing for more occupation due to pressure from the ultra-orthodox. Etc...

Incorrect, there are holy Islamic sites in Jerusalem and before Mecca, Jerusalem was the direction Muslims faced when they preform their 5 daily prayers. But theres nothing saying that Jews or Christians can't live in Palestine. All the Abrahamic religions consider Jerusalem a holy land. No I've never seen even an Islamic extremist that believes Palestine should be Jew or Christian free. Even Hamases documents from when they where formed state that in Palestine ''followers of all religions can coexist in security and safety where their lives, possessions and rights are concerned." But lets be honest with each other most of these home made rockets don't even reach Israelis about 95% of the time. Go and look back into the history of Israel in this particular narrative- that zionism was inherently racist, militant, expansionary since Herzl- you will see that alot of things make sense. The planned use of terrorist gangs, the systemic ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in 1948. Preemptive attacks in 1967, the refusal to negotiate till Sadat had scared Israel into it. the Oslo and Camp David fiascoes and failures, and now this. Look into why these settlements still continue to exist, the illegal appropriation of water and other resources, destruction of livestock and agriculture. There are legitimate war crimes being committed in occupied Palestine everyday, not because of a few extremist renegade Zionists but because the government allows it to take place. But will never hear of it. I can go on discussing 1940/50s and 60 and make Israel look really bad the way you try to go back in time and try to gain sympathy for Jews, but were not here for historical revisionism.

source? Israel attacked Hamas' headquarters, so any civilian deaths are tragedies and not intentional. As I said, Israel went overboard. I don't know if there will ever be a cease to the hostilities, but with all this violence ON BOTH SIDES, there will never be a consensus. They need to make an agreement. There has to be initiative on both sides, and I think Abbas needs to take power for that to happen. Hamas are too militant, and the Israeli government responds badly to militancy, unfortunately.

Now 60 years later after many massacres that haven't been condemned and no one has been bought to justice for. The Israeli military again bombing the starving and imprisoned population of 1.5 million Gaza. Doesn't this remind you of the Warsaw ghetto where the Jews where blocked off and bombarded by the Nazis? Since you love trade mark the holocaust and use it as a weapon/tool to defend and justify what your people are doing. Whats happening today is a modern day holocaust. The Israelis are a gang of fascist that just want to stall, because peace is no option for them. Thats why ships that are brining food, aid and medical equipment to Gaza are being confronted by the Israeli army threating to sink them if they don't go back. Injured Gazans are dying everyday because the hospitals don't have proper medical equipment and are short on supplies because of the blockade. its clearly a humanitarian crisis going on and a genocide.
For a person seeing their loved ones get killed and maimed, entire buildings get blown to the ground and on top of that, living mostly off of UN food rations, having sporadic electricity and running water, you can't expect them to wave a magic wand all of the sudden turn on Hamas and be cool with Israel. This will only increase support for Hamas. When they're being subjected to that kind of situation Gazans are being subjected to there is only one option. You can't oppress people who have already made enough sacrifices having their land taken of them by force than bomb the shit out of them on top of that and expect them to submit.
A genocide is taking place while the world turns a blind eye. But stop trying to defend and justify it because your beginning to make yourself look stupid and cowardly. Before I address your main points (I have lots of homework), I'll ask you to stop using the word 'genocide. Clearly, the meaning of that word, like the meaning of 'Nazi,' eludes you. Genocide is the systematic and purposeful elimination of a group of people because they belong to that group. Israel is not doing that, they are making a statement and trying to overthrow/subdue Hamas. Although they are clearly going about it in the wrong way, it's definitely not genocide. By the way, I agree with a fair bit of what you're saying.
Point of interest: some Muslim residents of Gaza support Israel's invasion, because they say that Hamas deserves it. Some of these people have been tortured by Hamas, and most of them are members of Fatah. I was really surprised to hear that, actually.

Hamas has been building and running many positive programs for the Palestinian community in Gaza even before they where elected. They have never turned their backs on the people of Gaza. Thats why they have a large support and the support for Hamas will only increase after this siege. Because they are still fighting back to defend Palestinian land daily. Its a shame western media paint a picture of Hamas being a blood thirsty organization. first of all, Hamas are losing support because the people know that the rockets triggered Israel's OVERREACTION (there, I said it for the umpteenth time). Secondly, if you call positive programs indoctrination and strapping roles of explosives onto teenagers and sending them ioacross the border, then yeah, they've been doing just that. I mean in the past years, Hamas has been focusing almost all of their energy on attacking Israel, as opposed to seeing to their own. Israel imposed the blockade because Hamas kept on shooting rockets into Israel even after they gave them gaza...the rockets have been continuous for a few years -- they're not new
