Does anyone else quite strongly dislike it, the font(s) in particular, if enough people agree, would it be alright for us to have a little competition to make a new one, since there is a lot of photoshop skill on this forum.

The size is 400x120.
I have attached the logo.
Please note that the whole header background needs to match the background of the logo so it can blend. If it doesn't, the logo will not blend with the overall header background. I hope that makes sense.

nice :thumbsup: maybe add a bit to the opacity of the faded logos, i had to look hard to see it wasnt bad cloning out of the background or something. nice n simple though, i liek :biggrin:

Thanks both of you, Borg, I played around a lot with the positioning of the Grip, and because its so much shorter than Soccer in the end I think thats what looked best, If I put it equal distance from the logo, it looked slightly out of place. But meh, you gonna enter borg, think you should!

I like the look of the Beyond Football logo. Also, let's not stress Soccer Grip as we're kind of moving away from that name. Maybe it can be put in small text somewhere.
The first two banners that were posted look pretty good but I don't think they are improvements over the current one.

finnery, he's got his name on it but thats only because he wasnt registered. he still has the original psd and will remove the name if its to be used Smiley
and it does blend because at the right and bottom edges theres a mask from one pixel in with the original gradient underneath, so it will blend. if it needs more blending he can make the mask obviously blend further.

Im not really fond of the scanlines, they need to be more subtle imo, especially around the text.

I like the top left, but the Soccer Grip is too much like I mentioned in my previous post. The little rounded box below Soccer Grip stands out a bit too much as well.
I like the work though; we just want it a bit more simple and not so tacky. It needs to be easy on the eye since this is a forum.

i like the logo and font... the bottom edge (without blending) disturbs me, and i like the righthandside when it not on the blue, but obviously it has to be so...

Finny, maybe we can move the "Football" onto the original picture rather than making the png.. it will look better.

Guys, the logo is already good. Don't add that fat border around it. Makes it look tacky.
Also, let's not put all the attention on Soccer Grip. I don't want people coming from Beyond Football to think it's some other site. Soccer Grip should be on there but maybe not as huge as it is.

I like ajays out of all of them, finnery and borgs one is also good. Owen i dont like the font on yours, otherwise good

eddy i know your going for subtlty but i dont much like the soccergrip colour on either, i think raising the opacity on the masked white bit would make it a bit less of an 'annoyance' to the eye n more of a subtle text.
and i dont like the second sig. good idea but the reflection, while always a nice effect, looks messy and out of place with the logo behind it.
im mentioning the negs cos i think thats wat you should change, but take anything i havent commented on as a success ;) mkkk?

The fonts really bad, I think you should of reflected the whole text if you were going to at all but nice and subtle, either get rid of the logo in the background or blur it as its pixelated, alternatively trace it in illustrator(vector) and then make it bigger. and the soccergrip bits background should be a little more subtle.

i was tryina experiment with the reflection on the whole text and then i realized it looks weird with the "y" just jutting out there like that. tbh i'm not completely happy with these either but i think we need adi to come in here and tell us what he wants. well... obviously we've all missed the mark in one way or another so we need the "client" to give us more feedback.

Have the BF logo in the middle, then have two popular footballers on the left side and then two popular freestylers on the right side.
This way it shows the forum as a freestyle and football forum. Then you can just add Beyond Football forum on the bottom with pretty simple text. Below that, or anywhere else for that matter, say "former Soccer Grip".
I hope that makes sense. I think all 4 of the players should face the BF logo.

might be a bit hard, with such a small canvas area getting four different imagesn of people on might be a challenge. but alrighty i'll give it another go. maybe a new thread?

You said it should be easy on the eyes, after all it is a forum, that idea would be very cluttered, tbh.

It wouldn't if it's done right. The 4 players would need to be cut out nicely and made smaller so they can fit up there. What makes the logos messy are all the fancy fonts with layers underneath them. The text should be simple. With that all we would have is a logo, 2 players on each side of the logo, and some clean text. Would be nice.
Just look at this image:

Could someone please take the current logo and re-save it using Photoshop? My Photoshop version is old and I've been told it's the reason the logo background doesn't match the top bg in IE.

Looks pretty excellent man, best concept I've probably seen so far (no offense to other entries). To be honest but I'm not feeling the plain blue background.

Stas, I think it'll look better if it were sharpened.. and maybe change the font and background a bit. The choice of photos are good, but maybe make it more colourful?

Hadn't bothered to think about making a background, because I thought the background had to match that blue color we currently have up there Is that not the case?

the edges do, yes, unless youre planning on a border. but you can obviously make another layer on top of your bg to snazz it up a bit and then mask fade out the edges into the plain blue.

Sorry but I really don't like it, the backgrounds a bit too plain, gradient would sort it out, but I think the cutouts look a bit scrappy along the glow applied to everything.

I like your banner. It's the best so far and exactly what I was trying to describe in my post. Is there any way you could maybe sharpen up the logo so it looks like the current one? Maybe add Beyond Football is some other font and add freestyle soccer forum?
You've got the right idea though. If anyone else wants to give it a shot with a similar idea... please give it a go.
Also, maybe we should use Cristiano Ronaldo and someone else? Terry is cool, but Ronaldinho is being a little twat right now. :biggrin:
