Anyone interested in going to new york or chicago in july for a meet?

I, of course, am up for it! Daniel was ready to meet up with me in New York, so I'm pretty sure he'll be up for this too! Lets just get a few more guys and we're good :D

How many freestylers from the US do we have on the forum?
I'm in Dallas, but it might be cool to meet up. I don't freestyle though. If it was somewhere in the South, it'd be better for me. Don't make any plans around me though... I can see if I can make it. Maybe a short vacation to New York at the time of the meet?

Not too many... off the top of my head: myself, alex, sam, victor, numberten?, Z and Michael have accounts I think but never use them

there is already a thread called "meet in new england" - i was suggesting NYC - but the city is so expensive - that's why
it would be nice if you guys consider boston
boston is closer to canada - there is a chance some freestylers from Montreal or Toronto may come too

I talked to ecuabol, he said he might not be able to make it because he has school and stuff around summer time, i'd be fine with boston, would be great if some from toronto and monteal came down, i think i know a few from there, maybe jamie bruno? and the victors. Craig could try i guess if he wanted too, ill talk to some people and see what happens

I will be able to go but I'd need to stay over at some place because I can't waste 8 hours in one day for just transportation...that'll suck :S so yeah I can go if there's a place to stay

I live one and a half hour from Boston, so if we want find any good place to stay in boston, i can host a few people.
It would be nice to find some not expenisve hotel, cause it's more fun to stay all together

I don't want to fly cause airfare is a bitch, I think there's a train that heads out to boston so i could probably get the hook up on that, we have to find out when victor is vacationing (i dont want to plan it all around him but it'd be nice if he came) Victor is also trying to get Jamie Bruno and the other victor might be able to if he can clear it up with his parents, parents really aren't an issue for me since i've traveled far without them.
Sam are you going to be living in NYC with your family? Or is someone hosting you as a foreign exchange kinda deal?
edit: Airfare would be roughly around $250 if I bought it now, the train is only $92 round trip so I think I'll go with that, we need to come up with a time so i know when to book it (earlier you book, the cheaper it will be) does anyone know where in boston we'll be meeting? They have like 4 different train stations.
p.s the train trip is 22hrs.... :wtf:

There is one park whe bmx fellas practice, a lot of space -that may work
Boston is a sick city for a US meet imho
Victor's friend lives 15 minutes away from me, i was friends with him in high school
In case it will be to expensive to pay the accomodation in Boston as I said I might host some guys

I like june 27-29th, dont see a problem with it, i know for sure it cant july 2-4th i have to do performances for the festival they have in the city and where i live.

ok i talked to my host fam, they said it's ok if 3-4 guys come to stay with me in the late June - so that's like a back up thing (i live about 60-90 minutes away from the center of Boston)
so 3 days for a meet? - that's not bad

that's great guys but don't depend on Alex's idea, we are still trying for a cheap hotel, it will be better because we can do whatever shit we want. For people who are interested in knowing the price and stuff, it'll be about $100 to $150 at the max, not including transportation though. Sound fair?

I'm surely interested! It's high time we make a trip to a big meet like this.
It's just that I'm not really sure, because I have classes in summer, and this year is supposed to be very important to me, so probably if you guys can make it on one of the weekends that'll definitely do me good.

btw Khoa - that's great that you are considering coming - cause that's a long way for you - it would be great to meet you
about dates: - 25-26-27 - that's Saturday, Sunday, Monday - basically it will take a weeked - 3 full days, 2 nights in hotel ( about 140-150 may be less - because it makes sense to stay for a night in the suburbs of Boston, rather than in the center - which will save a lot of money on accommodation)

ok listen up fellas
my suggestion for this meet:
1. meet at boston startin 10-12 am - have an official part of the meet - probably in one of the parks of Boston (have a competition in case many people show up - just gotta know for sure how many)
then those who have to go home, due to some circumstances - go home if they want
2. then we take the evening bus to Cape Cod - that's #1 tourist destination in New England - that's where I live
it will take 1 hour, may be 1 and a half
here are two options: we take some hotel or
do a "freestyle house" which is actually even cheaper
example - the house to the right on this picture, the one with a big green lawn (that's a view from my window btw - the time of the year when the meet is taking place)

so this house is for rent - owned by my members - they charge 2 grans per week because of the ocean - hence 300 bucks per day, i.e. if we have 15-20 guys - it will be like 25 bucks per night - cheaper than hotel - more fun too - because of the ocean and the beach
i think we may be able to rent this one or another, since i punched my neighbor's dog in the face (not once, it shits on my practice place - so that's fair and i think we are cool)
so we rent a house - have night there - next day do a chill practice, have fun etc - lots of tourists too - so can do busking or whatever one of the 2 days we spend on the cape
so the meet lasts for 3 days, one in boston (in case many people come - i'll look for sponsors and try to orginise a competition with some cash prize or whatever i'll be able to get)
the other two days on Cape Cod (google it too) - last day - you take a bus to Boston (14 bucks and leave for home)
if this sounds good to me - let me know - i'll start looking for a hotel or house (personally i like house idea better - i hope you american kids aren't planning to drink, smoke weed etc not to ruin the house we may rent :grin:)

fucking brilliant man! the only problem is I don't think we will be able to get that many people for a freestyle house :( Once we find out we have that many guys, it'll be the sickest idea ever! If a lot of people have problems getting here or around Boston, then we will change the location of this, but only if we HAVE to.

i believe we'll get more than 10 people at least - which still makes it happen (not competition though - makes the price for a house night 45 (not 70-100 hotel anyway)
we need to get as many people from the area - i believe there may be a lot of canadians coming - cause - with freestyle house - it becomes more than a regular meet - that would be fucking epic - if we make it happen this way

Alex, your idea sounds good to me.. as I said it before, if this gets big and SERIOUS, i'll change my plans and come to this meeting.. what I mean by serious is that at least 15 freestylers come and we all stay at the same place...

I'm a DEFINITE in. My brother and his friend are coming with though since they have friends in boston they wish to visit. Neither of them FS but can still pitch in for the FS house if we decide to get it.

I'm still trying to convince my parents... maybe 50% chance right now that i would be able to go. Pretty sure they won't like the "freestyle house" idea so count me out of that for now. Also, like alex said, no drugs or crap like that, part of the reason's my parents and i'm sure some of those of the guys on here are hesitant to let me go is cuz they worry bout stuff like that... i'll try to contact danny and ecuabol in pa about this too

i have already got in touch with people who may eventually agree to sponsor it or help with organizing
ever seen t-shirts saying "life is good"? - idk - may be that's just massachusetts thing - but these guys sponsor events like - freestyle frisbee, pumpkin cutting tournament (whatever the fuck it is) etc
also sent a message to boston footbag freestyle association
i'll keep you uptodate about all that
i really want to have a competition on the first day in Boston - that will make it more attractive and more people must show up, because i tell you - there is no way the sport will develop when there is no competitive spirit - like in Russia, where events like that are held several times per year and people are more motivated to work on their lp
NOTE: i need at least confirmed 20 people from the US and Canada, so i would like to know who is coming for sure or may be - by the middle of march or the end of march as the last time
the competition will probably have some small insertion fee (30 bucks - may be a little more, but not significantly), which put all together will either become a cash prize for the winner or will go for charity things (in case sponsors came up with the presents for the winners)
moreover the insertion fee is good - since it will discourage people who just came to fuck around have a good time - from entering the competition. why? - because those who may sponsor it - are interested in the audience - which is another thing needed for an event like that - and the contestants will do a shitload of drops - that won't look good
when you pay a little money, means you are actually considering going far in this competition and were working on your lp before
the other 2 days of the meet are optional - and as i said will take place on cape cod - the biggest new england summer place
probably renting a house and just having a good time
boston part is official part - and people who have to go home because of school, work, children etc - can go home - and those who want to go to cape cod - go there (cape cod thing includes very nice weather and beach shit too)

well as i said i am looking for sponsors
and in our case everything is sorta interconnected - the more people come - the more chances the competition will happen - which will attract audience and the sponsors can promote their product quite well at an event like this with a big crowd
plz if you consider coming - put you name and add may be - write what is bothering you, i.e. distance, plain tickets etc
one of the biggest goals i am setting - is to get money for the competition - primarily for european judges - and i mean big names
i am not going to tell you who i have in mind - because i am still working and can't say anything for sure
however - that means another good thing about this meet - you aren't gonna meet just some american boys - but also 2-3 big european fsers
because you gotta understand - when i am going to contact the potential sponsor - i have to give them some sort of a business plan - an outline for the event, including how many people are coming
it's not gonna work - if i only know about 10-15 fsers coming and than in june suddenly you will start saying - 'oh yeah lets do it' - that'll be too late
i need to know who is coming now (for sure or may be)
the last date to register is the middle of march - you have ONE MONTH to think

Im probably going to b working down in the states freestyling from late may to the beggining of July or so . i would need to know aound when do you guys want to have the meet? . the later the better for me . because i wouldnt know which city in America i would b in around the time of the meeting. if its after my contract is done and i am back in Toronto i would 100% make the trip back to Boston for the meet unless an emergency comes up. I am down for the freestyle house idea aswell. I am mostly in love with this idea bcuz our levels in freestyle are going to sky rocket by all the other freestylers we see and the amount of training thats going to be done there and previous to the date. If there is a freestyle competition freestylers are going to want to do good in it and train really hard until the date of the comp. theres no RBSS until 2012. So to any american/ canadian reading this , if you really love this sport plz try to put some effort into making this happen. for the MOTG world comp not a single North American freestyler was offered an invite . neither Avalos ( top 16 in RBSS) Angelo ( US Champ ) ecuabol nor myself( not saying i deserved one) . But i wanna show the rest of the freestyle world that North America also can be a freestyle continent. sry for the big wall of text

I've been talking to mendoza and we should change the meet day to the 23rd
We all meet up on the 23rd some time in the evening (thursday) so friday (the 24th) everyone is all together, so we have the entire rest of the meet dedicated to Freestyle

ok so as we discussed before - the boston meet will happen on saturday june 25th, and for location i'll write more info soon
from logan airport there are buses going to south station, buses from new york go there too, so are the trains from the western states
so south station boston, located in the very center - is very likely to be the place where we all meet - at 12:00 pm and go the actual meet place
then in the evening we go to cape cod
i was checking houses to rent - well it's sorta expensive but i'll keep checking on that - and will try to wrap it up before may
most likely we'll stay in hotel\motel
the cape cod part can last from 3-5 days - depending on how long you wanna stay
cause its a tourist place - so we can not only fs haha - but go to the beach and do other shit
note: this is a fun competition, so no matter what your level is you are welcome
if you are injured or sth - feel free to come anyway - unless you are in a wheel chair
because: no cripples, no retards, no non-white-non-anglo-saxons

To be honest I think you should check out New York City, and at the right time as well (I mean near the US meet). In that way you can meet first with the freestylers at NY (I think Danny, Victor, and may be even Angelo can come!) and then join them to Boston for a second meet, with the whole country's freestylers!
If you can do that then it's gonna be sick. Can't wait for that to happen!

One suggestion- I think many people will want to go to the Boston meet, but many less would want to (or be able to) spend a week in Cape cod. I think it would make more sense to make the actual meet in Boston for at least the weekend, which would give sufficient time to the people who have long travels to get there but aren't planning on going to Cape Cod. This would affect my decision, and probably the decisions of several others. Btw- do you have an update on the competition? :c017:

regarding comp things are not clear to me at the moment

i think we should do saturday and sunday in boston, i dont want to fly al the way across the country for just one day but i dont think i could afford much more than a couple days over there so I think for me the cape cod house isnt an option. and regarding a competition, i dont mind if there isnt one. like you said we oculd do the first one without one and try to figure something out for next year. the thing is
i think one day in boston is ideal, there is nothing else to do there
to take a bus to the cape which is like 12 bucks (one hour from boston), we can stay there, and for fairly cheap in a decent motel
the place has a lot of great fs places and beaches too
besides i guarantee you there are more people on the cape in summer than in boston, as its number one tourist destination in new england
my reasoning for one day in boston seems quite clear right? cheaper on the cape, more places to see for you, more people on the cape, better weather and beaches
and yes i am checking deals for motels, sth like in prague - several people in a room you know.. which won't be expensive at all
so i assume it will be really reasonable
that is why i am asking how many are coming - to have an idea

and i chose little 14 or 15 year old zev because he has that wow factor when he sees something good. age does not really matter too much.

Thanks a lot brother I'm seriously appreciate that.
But I think my skills are not really enough to be a judge, there are a lot of people in the States with better skills than me in all areas, for example Angelo is really amazing, and Mikael is my close friend so I know him well, when you're talking about performing uppers, no one beats the guy haha, he's seriously a legend.

Btw I completely agree about Victor. I don't know why I hadn't think of him before. Really recommended. May be a must.

you dont have to be a amazing Freestyler to be Judge of it. just know what your looking at and you will be fine.
thats why even a young kid can do it. not the so called best fser.

I won't be attending the meet, but here's an idea that makes a little sense for the judging process. Most of the judges yall are picking, I do not think will even be there, so it's silly to pick them. How about you just have all the participants vote each round on the winner of each battle. That way there will be little chance of bias, because it will balance itself out. Say you have 10 competitors, Competitors 1 and 2 are battling. The rest of the competitors will vote for the winner after the battle. In the even of a draw, there will be a sudden death round to pick the winner.
I agree with Danny about victor ny being a judge. I actually think his level of freestyle is much higher than most of you on here, but you guys just don't like the style. He is also a very intelligent guy whom knows about all styles, so he will give a fair opinion. I would advise having the participants vote on the winners of each battle though. It would make it easier.

however... i met him - he was breaking combos, and then you guys tell me about his huge knowledge...
hopefully i don't need to explain what breaking combos means... - i m willing to make this meet happen - so that people meet and some individuals take their heads out of their ass and start practicing properly, and the sport will receive more attention in the us

His knowledge is not based on his skill. He Just has a life so he can't train every day. Vic is a smart guy and you would be lucky to meet him.
besides there are many styles in fs. i myself like sits better then anything. He likes Uppers and im sure you like Lowers. so thats what we train.

for those who haven't bought tickets (some did - and let me know - so thank you :) )
so if you are planning to come
and you live not that far - consider taking a bus - thats the cheapest way (search on google, cause there are different companies offering bus rides (from nyc you can come to boston for as cheap as 15 bucks one way, and 15 bucks back - if you buy tickets online)
if you live fairly far away - check the amtrak trains web-site and book your tickets in advance
for those who have no option but to take a plane - well don't rush - look for the best deal - and seriously - thats the best time to buy the ticket - don't put it off - if you are planning to come

Its likely that I'll go, the competition thing is mainly so my parents don't think its a waste of time, so any compitition is fine, no matter how small. However, if I do go, I'd only go to the first day in Boston. Do you know what time you guys are planning on leaving for cape cod?

@alex yeah- unfortunately though I cannot go to the Cape Cod, I'm actually only going to be in boston for a day before i take the train back if i do go, which is why I wanted to know what time you guys are leaving boston. And btw we can still have a friendly competition though, right?

everybody is welcome - the level or the time fsing doesn't matter at all
i think we'll be leaving for cape cod - with the one of the last buses - which is at 11:50 (?) - we'll discuss that i guess
