Football Freestyle stars Billy Wingrove & Jeremy Lynch for Fifa Ballon D'or (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kDufzp_VZM#ws)
was this posted here before?
I thought it was a great performance.
-
Major respect to get a gig like that in front of football players, i just imagine if this was more of a real freestyler combos, how would be thier reaction
-
@ 1:19 lol at their face expressions
-
they're doing same choreography on every lp.. :040:
-
coz its sick and doesnt need to be real freestyle lol.. corporate people love that kinda shit
-
they're doing same choreography on every lp.. :040:
Yes, just like every other successful artist/performer.
-
the rutines was to easy ... cristiano ronaldo will do it much better ... and why they dont offer the job to real freestylers like linder and holmberg who are really sick at live performance or PWG..
-
I think any fser here can do this...they don't deserve such a gig
-
This is being discussed everytime Billy and Jermey doing someting.
Lets be realistic guys. Apart from them being dickheads many times, this IS a really good performance. Notice "performance" and not "show of your hardest trick on a meeting". It's a perfect show for such a event like this! I have respect for them freestylevice, but not for other aspects! This is also something you 13 year old boys should take in your mind: You don't have to hate their freestyle, just because they are dickheads, you guys get it? It's a question of being open minded. And you will have good help in life with that, if you can be open minded to other stuff.
Saying the performance are boring just because they "are doing the same routine every time", is also just stupid. All successful performer, not matter what type of performer they are, have a routine they perform. Sometime they have one routin, sometime they have more. This is the way you have to go if you want to be a succesful performer.
-
turn off the sound a watch it from skills POV, its nothing special. timo and adrian do it a million times better.

..I still think it's made of shit..
come on man you're trying to show another side of this and that's good, but you can't argue that most fsers can do better than this, those who take freestyle seriously. Put, for example, luki and andrew henderson up there and you have an amazing show.

Yes, there is people that are way better. But are people not allowed to do shows, because there is better one out there? Come on, im sure Billy have worked hes ass off for hes hes freestyle. Not trainingvice, but in the sense of marketing himself and make himfels a name for people, and he have success.
Because the real world is like this. Clients are looking for two things first:
1. Good looking guys.
2. How much attention the performer will draw aka how famous they are
3. Skills
This is how it work in business. They don't care about the "community" or the "real freestyle spirit" or stuff like that. They want artists that is selling good.
I would rather, just like you, want to see a freestyler that represent the community like Luki, Andrew or Palle. But the thing is that some (many) clients want this sort of performances, with a cool coreography and a nice routine. And as long as freestylers like Luki, Andrew and Palle just do "narmal freestyle performances", the clients will prefer Billys and Jeremys shows more. That's an fact. And i personaly hope that freestyle shows in the future, will be just like Billy and Jeremys, but with more freestyle skills involved.
-
Lets just pay respect to the guys that made it!
-
Agree with Tom, these guys are consistent too, imagine if they had any drops.
-
I completely agree with Tom.
The fact that I don't like either of them, Jeremy more than Billy, as persons shouldn't mean I don't think this is a good performance, because it is.
Yes, I agree that Andrew and Luki will make a more varied show, but guess what? 1/The things the 2 guys above did are more entertaining for non freestylers (let's NOT forget that, because realistically, that's how freestyler earn their money!), and 2/Although Andrew and Luki's show will be more varied, I doubt that they will have zero drop. Take Andrew for example. He's an insane allrounder and very consistent, yet on the battle with him vs. JF on TV, he lost. Why? Because he has about 3 drops while JF had none! Even if your tricks are way better, when you drop the ball, it'll lower your performance to the non freestyler's eye (let's not forget that, again. That's you main type of audience!).
The fact that some of you said that any of the freestyler here can do this just show that you have never been on a stage, in front of the whole audience in an atmosphere that can literally crush you to pieces, and perform tricks with 100% accuracy and total control. (I'm not trying to back them up or anything, it's just the truth) And not only that, you have to worry about other things: eye contact, gestures, interaction with audience... Many of you will say "oh, but that's not part of freestyle". Well, guess what? Freestyle is literally equals to performance. Without performance freestyle doesn't have a greater purpose, besides posting videos on the net and waiting for people to comment: "Wow you're a freaking beast!", which will not bring you money. No matter what kind of freestyler you are, in the end, you just have to perform. So the sooner you realize this, the happier and less frustrated you'll be.
All that aside, the fact that they always do the same choreography in every performance bores me out a little. I always hope I'll see new thing from them like better uppers or even some ATWs will be nice.
-
Hahaha, we actually have people hating on this. What a joke! :lol_hitting:
This was fucking brilliant. For once, we didn't have our eyes on Messi and Ronaldo. Instead, THEY were watching and smiling.
Fucking great to see freestyle on this stage. Congrats to them!
-
Pfffff... sorry guys but I dont give a shit about these two... I dont like their performances, freestyle, personality or however you call it... it is connected to each other. If you are dickhead nobody will ever like your freestyle even if you would pay for that...
And if do you think this is exactly what people want to see you are wrong. People just want to be entertained. And who tells just push ups and synchronized crap is entertaining? Pche, proper combo, simple transitions, smooth uppers and average SD. I see millions of replacements...
Reason of drops is the fact that player wants to show sth new sth great what he is not sure with. Because with more LPs player will become more boring with all the same stuff... If Andrew would stay with his routine and show it everywhere he has no drops.
Lets be honest and admit that everyone of you here would be able to do this performance for first try without any practicing. Dont you wanna see Ronaldo, Messi or others watching you instead of B+J? So now tell me what is entertaining!!!
So for me this was just marketing fight among agents of freestylers who would get this performance. Unfortunately these two got it and we should cry there wasnt someone who really deserves it and can show "Freestyle Football" in its best way.
-
Ufff... sorry guys... I didnt want to go so long but words were coming and coming...
-
thank you lucaso..that was exactly what I, and a few others, were trying to say! Now that some well known person has said this, more people will agree. It is great that "freestylers" got the opportunity to do this, but Billy and jeremy didn't deserve for sure.
-

To each his own I guess.
But about the connection between boringness vs. drops, i have to completely disagree with you.
Look at JK for example. The guy renew himself frequently, comes up with brilliant things time after time, and still remains very stable and no drops.
And I totally agree that when freestyler drops the ball it's because he wanna try something brilliant, but we have to ask this question again: Do the people watching (mostly non freestylers) love it? They don't know freestyle, they don't know what the freestylers are trying to do! The only thing they see is that the freestyler drop the ball, and that's final. Do you think people will be entertained by that, especially a formal crowd like this? Well, sorry to argue, but I just can't bring myself to agree.
And once again, I seriously don't think anyone here can do that routine 1st try without practicing. All of you always say the tricks are easy, and I agree. The tricks themselves are easy, separately (this word is the key: separately). But i really doubt anyone here can do the sequence from 2:18 to 3:02 perfectly at first try without any drop and practicing beforehand, plus on that kind of atmosphere.
It's really ironic that I'm doing this, because I have always hated those two guys as person, especially Jeremy he's no more than a dickhead. But we have to remain composed and focused, as well as retaining our open mindedness in order to perceive some of the good that this performance actually has: the calmness in pressure, the interactions with the audience (which is, of course, not the tricks or the excessive dancing, which are f!cking ugly in my eyes)... and then trying to encorporate that into our own performance. Sometimes it's all we need to actually improve our performance and can even sometimes improve our ability to recruit non freestylers into our cause. A cobra, although can bite people to death with its venom, is actually a very important organism in the ecosystem. We just don't annihilate the whole cobra population because it can bite us to death right? Same thing applies here.
-
I have to agree that it was a flawless performance, but at what cost? They did nothing difficult, it doesn't take long to perfect an easy performance like that... It didn't look like the audience was entertained much because of their facial expression. (i showed friends and they were bored also)
I've done a few large events (blackhawks parade, airshow, ribfest) and even though my entire "routine" is uppers (apart from the ducking-cross over and sole stall) i always get the crowd "wtf" reaction. (rollers.)
I don't judge an LP by the amount of drops, I judge it by the crowd reaction. Too me, these guys didn't achieve that.

May be you didn't notice, but this is a formal event. They are not suppose to be showing much reaction (do you ever see any "wtf" reaction in like an Oscar celabration for example?). Look at the suits and the atmosphere. It's not an outdoor event with normal people in informal clothing and a light hearted attitude gathering around. This is some serious stuff.
Your friends have seen your freestyle and knows how good one can be at fs, therefore they won't be interested in a show like this (I actually devise a term for that and it's called "previous exposure bias"). But people who actually watching it for the first time without any previous exposure to freestyle (again, the non freestyler emphasis here) are going to be impressed by it. Heck, by looking at Messi or C.Ronaldo's face, you see they're impressed, and they've done some freestyle stuff themselves (Ronaldo can do TATW, MATW and almost AATW for example).
-
No matter how you look on it, bad or not, they are the ones performing on that stage and get alot of money from it.
It was a good performance, a performance that this event is exactly after, it got style and entertainment, not a guy wich can do harder tricks and sometimes loose the ball. Yes, i think messi and ronaldo and everyone would love to some hardcore shit right there, but thats not really what the event was about in my opinion.

I guess I got your point. Well if you are talking about no drops with new stuff coming and mentioned JK, why do not put him into it? I bet my mom´s ass he could entertain those people with proper Freestyle Football skills and without stupid suits... Then we would see Ronaldo´s and Messi´s face in "wtf" position for sure... cause (quote by Daniel Rooseboom) "Messi´s face was like ´I can do better´expression"... that wasnt because of formal action (I consider those talks about no expressions as a bull shit) but it was really sign of boring performance...
We know how to entertain people, we know how to communicat with crowd and we know how to do these shitty moves for first try without any practicing. Dont take me wrong I am just saying what I see... and I see no potencial in the future of these two. Whatever action they are gonna perform at.
World is gonna find out about Andrew, Palle or Luki and then: "Good bye, Jeremy. Good bye, Billy. Next time try to wake up after your first success in 2005"
Anyway appreciate your opinion.

I have to admit, entertaining lp, even though I have seen it a couple of times before.... but I have to say one thing I have in my mind:
If you are only freestyling in order to get lps and money you're not a real freestyle in my eyes. You have to feel the spirit and I bet none of these two know any names of freestyle moves besides the classics like crossover, atw, htw, neckstall and stuff. Freestyle is just more than only about performances and getting money. Respect it and don't use it as a opportunity to get money...
-
Lol min 1.08 ronaldo is like pssssss i can do that shit! I0m better..!
Ok yeah props for the no drops but please lets be realistic some years back it could have been sick but they stayed back in those days they gotta catch up a bit.. not saying they have to do some crazy combo but common I can even do better than that!
Also a good performer changes routine every now and then this thing has been going around for year or more….
Tom has a point on what clients want but still….if there is someone new with something better why can’t they deserve such a gig…cause there are talkers.. psss please.. so it’s up to those who have better skills to come out with something better
I just don’t agree that this is the image of freestyle that’s is being givin…

Again, to each his own I guess.
Because it looks to me that these facial expressions of Ronaldo and Messi symbolized something very different, something like: "Wow that was impressive", and Messi's expression was right in time of a series of applause, and I don't really want to ask this, but are you guys sure you guys said that without any hating or bias?
And in formal celebrations like this, you shouldn't have any kind of insane cheering or "wtf" expressions is somewhat of a default. Everytime you see people in suits attending a big event, you know there won't be any kind of cheering, and applause is the highest kind of appreciation there can be.
I have to say that your opinions have been invaluable for this forum as a whole, and to me as an individual. But it seems that you harbor a hate for these two guys by their personalities, and then it spread into their performances as well. I know how easy that can be. In fact I was exactly the same as you once. But then, I realized that sometimes, you have to look past their limitations to find the thing they do well (and please don't tell me these two didn't do anything well in the performance above...). In fact, as true freestylers, we should learn to use their weapons against them and eventually win their place to perform in places like this.
Al Mualim (in Assassin's Creed) said: "Do not have a hate for your enemies, Altair... Such thoughts can poison, and will cloud your judgements".
-
Out of all these comments, there are actually a couple of guys who are MATURE enough to speak without hate towards a performance by freestylers they don't even like. Respect to you guys!
Even if you don't like or even if you hate Billy & Jeremy, along with their freestyle and performances, you need to RESPECT it and not let all of your jelaousy do the talking!
First off, the thing we should be happy about it that our sport/art is getting the chance to be showcased at big events such as this one. Just because Billy & Jeremy were performing this time, doesn't mean that in the future other guys won't be on the stage instead of them.
Khoa has made some excellent point in his point and so has Tom. Truth is, at some point of our lives, all of us had the SAME opinions as most of you have now about this kind of commercial freestyle, but as you get older, you get more mature and you start to realize certain things, which leads to being more open minded and actually being objective. Well, at least this goes for most of us, some stay the same jealousy filled know-it-alls as when they were in puberty...
I'm completely sure none of you have ever performed at an event like that, so you don't even have a clue what's it like. Furthermore, what is completely ironic, is that their performance was better than the vast majority of those who talk shit about them and their performance and claim they could do (much) better themselves. And no, you couldn't do their act 1st try without practice, not even if your life depended on it, lol.
Yes, the tricks they do are easy, but as Khoa already said, they are easy when performed separately, when they are part of choreographed routine which is synchronized to the music, it's a different story.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not crazy about them, their performance or the image they are presenting to the world about what freestyle football is, but that certainly doesn't mean I'm going to hate them or talk shit about them. Remember, times will change and so will the guys on the stage, especially when there will be more freestylers who will do SHOWS and not just perform random tricks with music playing in the background.
Also, don't forget that the management part of the "game" will always play a big role for big events like these, so more often than not, the person with the best contacts and CVs will be up there on stage, not who you think "deserved it the most".
All in all, stop fucking hating so much, learn to respect others and be objective and not just ass kiss the people you like or admire.
Over and out...
P.S. They did change their usual routine a bit, but you were too blind to see it and I'm sure if some of the more liked members of the freestyle football community did this kind of performance, most of you would be up their asses by now.

im gonna go ahead and unlock this (Miran if u really wanna lock it then no problem) coz i think this thread is entertaining, and the above post by Miran was one of the best ive ever seen on BF lol!!
i want to see peoples opinion after reading that post

Well said mate... let's make an article out of this.
And I agree with Dan, these types of threads need to stay alive to keep the sparks going. :great:

2:20 new sex position!

mr bean has better feeling for dancing then Billy (no joke)

In fact, there are a lot of people who would do much more freestyle moves and, in my opinion, more entertaining performance.
And, for example if I was a freestyler who would train freestyle only to performances etc, I would try to make my lp perfect, which means that I would do my best to entertain people. Let's be honest, they don't have any drops, smile every time, make duo performances, but if someone who's a real freestyler now, would treat freestyle as a job, his performance could be greater than their ones.
I respect them, because they did a lot to promote our sport, but now should be a small change, because freestyle is developing very fast, I can compare it to computer's developement :P
And last, but not least - promotion. They have a great manager for sure and he does his job very well, if they perform in such event like this.
Guys, let's find managers and everything would be much easier! Anyway finding somebody good is really hard, but it's another, complicated topic.
-
1. at least in my case, I aint hatting or trippin... i totaly have respect for them cause it takes guts to get up there and have such cold blood to pull of a perfectly clean LP in u such an event
2. this doesn't mean though that just because they have such experience they can't respect what freestyle has become (at least for what male regards cause we girls can't say much). If i was a guys i would feel a bit offended cause after years they've been in the game and knowing they are big faces, they could at least get a bit more involved to give abeter idea of wht freestyle is.
3.corporate and magament playa big role, but if you know you have the managemnt that makes you a figure of the sport take the entire responsability and put togethr what corporate whant but also stay up to the game other wise you showing something that is not the whole thing.
ur freakin living out of freestyle doing nothing else you aint got excuse. you got all the time and resources to keep up and do things always better and not hide behind such appetizing curriculum.
sorry but with all do respect i think they should step it up
-
Luki, I agree on some part with your comment, but there are too many "ifs" in there. Indeed, if more freestylers did make the effort these two made into making their act a show and not just random tricks, then maybe Billy and Jeremy wouldn't be the ones on the stage and I already mentioned this in my post. But the sad truth is, there are barely a few who can do so at the moment and that's one of the main reasons Billy & Jeremy got the gig.
@Laura: You know when they'll step it up? When they start losing jobs because there are better acts out there, but until then, I don't see a reason for making dramatic changes. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
-
I agree with Luki... I think there needs to be a better platform for finding freestylers for LPs. We need agents/managers/promoters or just a platform where event planners can find freestylers to hire.
Think about it, everyone will reach the age of 18 or 20. When you get this old, you need to make money. I think this is where freestylers are loosing interest. When you are in school, it's all good. You don't need the money and you got the time. When you get older, you have responsibilities and the only way you'll stay with it is if you can make money. Some might still freestyle for fun, but come one... most will need to make money somehow. You either make a decent amount of money from it or you're gonna lose interest soon enough.
I think having more money in the game would also bring in more new freestylers. How nice would it be if you made a few hundred extra bucks a month freestyling when you are 15-16?
Anyways, all I'm trying to say is that there needs to be a better platform to get a paid gig. Benbow and I were discussing this and wanted to make BF the first public platoform for freestylers to find these gigs. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to do it. We were thinking about doing just a freestyle team but that's not good enough. That will still only limit the platform to those who are part of the BF team. The team mwould also be restricted to a specific area. What I ultimately want to do is create a map on BF which shows the locations of each freestyler that's good and interested in LPs. Then the event planner can click on the location where they ned a freestyler and can watch videos and get contact info for that specific freestyler.

i still dont think theres many freestylers capable of putting on a better synchronized show for an event like that..
plus no offence to anyone but they dont want ugly weird lookin or lanky dudes.. billy and jeremy have a very PRO appearance and its clean-cut and marketable.. people just arent gonna replace them anytime soon for these corporate events planned by cunts

I think dantheman and lucaso etc have done much more for the sport than these two. billy and jeremy do stuff for themselves not freestylers, you can tell by the look on their face. i dont want to hear they did somthing for freestyle (not directly atleast). They want fame for themslves, so lets just give credit to the right guys and not turn these 2 into santas after all these years.

That's some sad, but true words!
