okay new TOD

Was Scolari pathetic or was it some work at the back and some unfortunate events his real downfall?
and what was the biggest factor?
- Drogba being out of form
- Failure to capture Robinho
- Too many good midfielders
- 4-5-1 formation
- Anelka v Drogba
- Abrom
- Injuries
- Lack of CDMs to control play (Makka leaving and Essiens injury)
- etc

- Injuries

michael essien's bum knee deserves its own listing

not that i'd choose either one of them as the biggest, but i think that they deserved to be listed

too early to send him packing imo.  i would imagine that he clashed with the chelsea backroom.  he likes people to stay out of his shit

I think the 4-5-1 formation is a HUGE one

you can't isolate a striker like that

4-5-1 isn't a problem.  the special one used to run it all of the time

it can be a 4-3-3 in attack

without getting too far into it (not having watched too much soccer this season), i think scolari was on the right path for what he tried to implement

deco is going to almost always be there in support.  if you have good wing play (i.e. support for your striker), it works out fine.  add in frank lampard getting forward and everything's kosher

i think he would have been able to do a lot more w/quaresma, and if robinho comes in at the beginning of the season, i think scolari is still at chelsea

most soccer formations are about 5/3's as fluid as they seem.  fuck, manchester united won the champions league and the league last season w/o employing a true striker

yeah

i don't know about kalou there, though.

something like this would've looked damned good for what he was trying to do:

essien
quaresma deco lampard robinho
drogba/anelka

or (for how it turned out)

essien
quaresma deco lampard kalou/malouda

Chelsea played a 4-1-4-1 for everyones information
i think its personally a horrible formation unless u have a solid CDM in which case Obi Mikel isnt

I actually think it was Drogba's situation. Anelka was top 3 for leading scorer when Drogba came back then had to sit on the bench for like 3 games as Drogba didnt contribute nearly as much as he did

I think Hiddink will make them do a 180 turn

I highly doubt they can win the Premier League, since they already faced United twice, and the only ground they can expect  to make up is if United lose.

i think they might get really close and people will give Guus props for doing as much as he could with the current situation but they wont win anything this year. They just seem to have lost the drive
