Managers
« on: Dec 22, 2008, 05:46: AM »
A thread all about managers. Obviously.

This thread involves the discussion of the pressures on some managers who allegedly under perform and other who are beat the expectation levels.

Just to start us off.

Do you think the pressure on Mark Hughes to finish in the top 5 is unreasonable?
-Take into account the money available.
-Robinho being the only top signing.
-Where Man City finish last season.
-The short time Hughes has been around at the club.
etc

Hopefully there'll be more questions later on in the tread but for now lets discuss this.

i do think its fair seeing as Sven Goran Eriksson did the job quite well last year (beating Man Utd twice)
the problem is that with his billionaires behind him he will constantly rely on the money and not work on team chemistry enough

just my opinion
"Aim to master the particular movement, whatever it may be, by refining and refining until no one but yourself can tell the difference between a movement you are satisfied with and one you know to be imperfect."

i would so much say that
i'd say the owners want to use the money Mark Hughes is a great coach and i believe he is focusing on team chemistry and the Youth Academy it more of the owners combined with the fans who demand trophies now

i see Hughes as a classy coach who always builds for the long term

I think the billionaire owners have to be on the managers backs like that. If Hughes can't finish at least fifth this year he needs to go, if they want to win the EPL anytime soon which is obviously the plan I hope. Look at Chelsea Mourinho came in and they never looked back. Had we allowed Ranieri £120 million on players and still a runners up that year. An excellent spot for Chelsea a first time in 49 years but the owner had to show how serious he was and got a new manager who he believed could go that one step further and he did.. Don't get me wrong I was upset when Renieri left one of our best managers but it kinda payed off at the end of the day. When that kind of money is involved you can't afford to be second best.

not only that but i have a feeling these billionaire owners are gonna get really nosy (if these results continue) and they'll start bothering Mark Hughes, telling him what to do, telling the players what to do . Really what abramovic started to do with Mourinho at the end

That was out of line by Aromavich, apparently he even entered the dressing room at half time and tried to give Essien pointers in passing.  :saywhat:

Get the best manager for your money but no interference from the president you would have to be a lunatic like Abromavich to try and give Mourinho pointers in managing a football club, hes arguably the best manager at this point in time.

managers have always been under alot of pressure if the team losses they are immedietly blammed.

look at del bosque the old Madrid Coach he won them soo many titles including the champs league, built surley one of the best teams in history then he didn't win just one la liga title and they kicked him out.
