in the 8 whole years you've been here...
you were educated here, you breathed the air, you ate the food, you were exposed to australian society and lifestyle, and you LIVE here... how does that NOT make you even slightly australian?

being australian doesnt mean being a stereotypical aussie, it means this is where you live or grew up or whatever!!
I got a privet school education, I payed for that shit, I could have breathed the same air anywhere else in the world, payed for the food and I'm not really a huge fan of the lifestyle anyway.

Then may i ask why your not living in this other place??? you seem to be avoiding the "why do you live in australia?" question...

i dont think you realise how lucky you are to live in such a country
Why are your feelings getting hurt when did I say I didn't want to live here?

And how am I avoiding a question, when its so fucking obvious unless you didn't know what was going on outside your own borders like most of you.

thats EXACTLY how ur avoiding the question, by not giving a direct answer...

is it coz somalia sucks? is that wat u ment by obvious? if so, just appriciate the country ur living in now. call urself australian man. its not that much 2 ask.

i think he is referring to some kind of political issues occuring in the country, hence his attack on our ignorance... either way (apart from the "sucks" part, bit harsh lol) your point stands L_I_S

Not that this topic is none of my business, but even though you refuse to call yourself Australian  you should still respect the country and people a little more instead of just describing common stereotypes. You are completely better off living in Australia than Somalia anyway by no means am I trying to be offensive or anything its just that Australias government is more stable, they have a much higher gross national product and Somalia is a nation of poverty.

The reality is there's no problem calling yourself Somalian. Forcing you to call yourself Australian is stripping you of your identity. But don't disrespect the country in any way like making these stereotypical accusations of australians. I'm from New Zealand and we take the piss out of australians all the time as they do back to us, but its done with respect and without disregarding one another as you did before. Peace!

Thats uncalled for, were having a civilized discussion here.

How am I being disrespectful. Youze are the ones that turned this into an issue of respect or disrespect. Me not calling myself Australian or putting the flag on my fucking back is disrespect now?

If you where living in my country would you give up drinking? would you give up dealing with interest when it comes to your money? would you give up thinking homosexuality is acceptable? the answer is NO. right? Think about it how can you call yourself a part of a society that you have major disagreements with. Put yourself in my shoes.

No disrespect here, I'm not braking any laws, I pay my taxes, pay my bills, I'm not hurting anyone, I'm not telling others how they should live I'm going about my day to day life like everyone else and mind my business. How am I disrespecting anyone.

If you call your society a free and democratic one then why are you being so ignorant and intolerant of others.

sorry about that, ur rite. i just didnt understand wat was rong with it. care 2 explain?

no1 saying u gotta drink, acept homo's, etc. just that u should be saying im an australian bcoz u live in australia. not evry australian is wat u think. evry1 has there own opinions/beleifs/behaviours. those things arent controld by anyone but urself.

race does not equal opinions/beleifs/behaviours. i hope ur atleast considering in calling urself australian with ethnicity(if thats a word) unless our reasoning seems stupid 2 u.

To me I find it quite ironic that you don't call your self an ozzy at all, yet your name was melbourne.

Its a long story. To sum it up: a civil war started in 88 when I was born 20 years and 400,000+ dead and its still going on.

Trust me I have this same argument with my own kind. People from my country have the same argument that your having with me now, everyone isn't like me, I got friends who are integrated and consider themselves full Australian. Nah I got nothing against your reasoning I even question my own peoples reasoning all the time.

But in order for me to call myself a part of something I have to participate in the lifestyle and share beliefs.  Its more about integration. Nothing personal, thats just how I think.

i think we have yet to uncover why it is that you are in australia (or at least i haven't), really, why from somalia did you go to australia?

but in your defense, although australians have given you food, water, and shelter, i know what it feels like to want to leave an area  (i hate the south of the united states of america).where i was clothed, sheltered, and fed. i know what it's like to "hate" the place that helped me grow.
