whenever the 'greatest player of all time' discussion rears its ugly head there are only 3 main players that people argue for and that is Maradona. Pele and George Best.

Here is the picture: Maradona, Best, Pele.

This isn't the picture: Garrincha

Hope you understand
who are you to say what the picture is? I'm just stating what I think. Do you have a problem?

If so, I will go on a drawn out tirade regarding the value of free speech interspersed with a tangent on the nature of human perspective and why there is room for individuality no matter what people like you think when they side with the mechinized establishment.

But all that aside, what do you have against Garrincha?

Nothing, i have just never ever heard his name and greatest player of all time in the same sentence. And i have had that discussion plenty of times.

If you want to post about free speech then go ahead.

We've obviously been talking about different people

many Brazilians think that Garrincha was the greatest brazilian player ever...which means definitely in the running for the greatest

did you read my post?

brazilian...he won the wc for them in 1962, and ge tore apart the tournament. The average player spends less than 3 minutes per game with the ball on his foot. Maradona spent 3. In those world cup matches, Garincha spent 5  :saywhat:

All i can say is that when Pele won his first world cup he was 17 and barely an influence (dont bitch at me because what 17 yr old makes the biggest contribution to a WC wining team) not only that but the other 2 world cups that Pele won he played so little in the tournaments that he wasnt that big of an influence either. influence? yes! that much?no! Those 3 Brazilian teams were made up of some of the greatest forgotten players that are overshadowed so many times by Pele. Yea he did score the hat-trick against Sweden in one of the finals but its easy to score 3 goals and play beautiful football when you're surrounded by amazing players.
Maradona on the other hand single-handedly led Argentina to the '86 WC. In all honesty I can say that w/o Maradona Argentina only had a on-par team. With this reasoning I looked at this battle really as "If Pele was on the 86 Argentina team, could he lead them by himself to victory?" and my answer is no. Not only that but on the club level look at Maradona's success. He came to Napoli and won them the Serie A title for their club's first time ever in 86/87 then came 2nd place the following two seasons and then won it for them again in the 89/90 year. Napoli also won the Coppa italia in '87 (2nd place in '89),Uefa Cup and Italian SuperCup in '89 and '90.  Look at Napoli now....they will never be as good as Maradona made them and he more or less made them a top side in Italy during his time there.

IMO i say Maradona just because how he could single-handedly lead a team to greatness (unlike cristina ronaldo)

Maradona just above Pele. Then the rest in w/e order u want

At 17, Pele:

scored the ONLY goal in the quarterfinal match to help Brasil win 1-0.

scored a hattrick vs France after Brasil was down 2-1 to help them into the final

scored 2 goals in the 5-2 victory vs Sweeden

That's, hmm: 6 goals. And, is the youngest (and still is?!) goalscorer in World Cup history. No major influence

Why did he not play that much of a part in 66? Probably because every player against him tried to kill him; he had to leave due to injury from excessive tackles. Tackles Maradona couldn't feel on his coke high

Hmm maybe, the argies do cheat, but you said win at all costs as if thats alright.

I'm not gonna go off " look at americans, there bad" but you only have to look at drugs in your sports and the Lombardian ethic.
