As you may have noticed, objects do feel lighter whilst in water. Why this is, is because there's a lifting force from the water on the object. So if there's a lifting force of 1 kg (10N), the scales goes up exactly 1 kg.

It's as if you were letting your finger rest on a table actually, though not exactly :thumbsup: .

I decided to come up with a new riddle:

The Castle:

There is a castle surrounded by water/a river which is 10 meters large. One day the castle was attacked by some evil vikings who decided to take it over. However, they were only in possession of wood which is 9.5 meters long.
Considering the facts that the river flows in a perfect square around the castle, and that ther is no other way to come to the island, how did the vikings manage pass the river? They have no boats, nor any other objects, exept of the wood (and of course their weapons).

Sorry, both wrong. They want to come to the other side as fast as possible, and if they just put the wood on the water you have to balance yourself. Think logical. ;)
