Sampdoria 1-1 Chievo

A thrilling game at the sodden Luigi Ferraris ended with honours even, although Samp will feel that they should have taken all three points.

The first twenty minutes were all Samp, with Squizzi having to do well to deny Delvecchio and Cassano early on.

However, lone Chievo forward Pellissier was linking up well with Langella, leading to a rather close-fought first half.

Still, Samp had the best of the chances overall, and just after the break Franceschini gave the hosts a deserved lead. A wonderful ball in from Cassano out wide found Franceschini all but unmarked, and Squizzi could do nothing about the finish.

But just one minute later Chievo were back on level terms. Pellissier's excellent cross met Langella in the area, and Mirante was let down by his defence as the winger slammed the ball home.

As the rain continued - and the odd thunderburst drowned out the fans' noise - chances grew fewer and further between.

Lecce 1-1 Siena

A free and open game at the Via del Mare ended honours even - perhaps an appropriate result.

Although Curci was busy early on, Siena took the lead just before the break after Rossettini set up Ficagna for a close-range opener.

Antunes then allowed Siena to pull off a countrer, but recovered to clear off the line to prevent a 2-0 scoreline at half time.

Ten minutes after the restart Lecce were on level terms thanks to Caserta's neat finish.

The game began to slow down as full-time came, Siena playing a containing game, and 1-1 it ended.

Palermo 2-0 Genoa

A goal in each half gave Palermo a merited victory over a Genovese outfit that seemed weary from the long road south.

That's not to say that the rossoblu offered nothing: rather it's that their challenges came too early and died out too quickly. A fine counter half an hour in, for example, saw Milito's effort saved by Amelia, but Genoa failed to build on their momentum.

Instead Cavani gave the hosts the lead just a few minutes before the break. Simplicio's assist into the area was textbook stuff, but Cavani's finish - off the underside of the bar - was even better.

Emboldened, Palermo pushed further forward, and Bovo duly made it 2-0 on the hour mark. A lovely long ball from Liverani found the stopper, who made no mistake with a crashing drive past Rubinho.

It was hard to see Genoa fighting back after that and, indeed, they did not.

Catania 1-0 Atalanta

A second half strike from Michele Paolucci was enough to give the Sicilian's all three points at the Stadio Massimino. Atalanta dominated for long spells but it wasn't enough as Walter Zenga's men held on.

Torino 1-3 Inter

Despite a late scare, Inter had a relatively comfortable afternoon in Turin as they ran out 3-1 winners against Torino, the goals coming from Maicon, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and an own goal by Marco Pisano, while Elvis Abbruscato found the net for the home side.

Roma Comfortably Beat Reggina
Roma 3-0 Reggina

Roma earned their first victory of the season with a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Reggina, the goals coming from Christian Panucci, Alberto Aquilani, and Simone Perrotta.

Ronaldinho played really well in this game; he, Kaka, and Pato were pretty threatening up front.
