Torres is the best player Liverpool has..so they really must adjust all other players according to him

Chelsea look set to be without Michael Essien for the rest of the year after it was confirmed the midfielder would need surgery on a knee injury.

The 25-year-old suffered the problem while on international duty and was stretched off in the game between Ghana and Libya on Friday night.

He had missed the start of Chelsea's Premier League season because of injury and had only recovered last week.

A club statement read: "Michael has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will undergo an operation as soon as the majority of the swelling has subsided. We expect this to happen in a week's time.

yer u may  not think it cos hes a defender and its only really the offensive players who get credit and all the praise, and u prob. dont notice unless u regularly watch liverpool, but week in week out he pours his heart and soul into every match and never fails, id say without him the defence wud be uselss

Yes, he works hard but please don't tell me he's more important to the team than Gerrard or Torres. Mascherano works his ass off as well but you don't consider him in the same group.

On another note, does nobody here care about Essien's ACL tear? It's a huge injury and nobody is really talking about it.

big loss for chelsea, i hate it when players have knee injuries, i would retire straight away the knee is the most important part of the body and soccer player take that for granted

adi just because you had the same injury
