On the topic of books, anybody read Ivanhoe....such an awesome book...same with the Road

the kite runner was a great movie and my sister said that the book is even better than the movie! :saywhat: my favorite book that i highly reccomend is called Life of Pi. its unlike anything i've ever read.

I really didn't like Life of Pi...it was too preachy and it's messages weren't subtle enough for my liking.

Preachy: as in, he was throwing his view in our faces instead of using any artfulness or literary tecnique....he was just saying 'this is what I think' his ideas weren't bad, although not particularly new or interesting per se...it would've been better if he'd carried them across with more subtlety using allusion, imagery, symbolism, etc....the only technique that he used effectively was anthropomorphism, which I thought was quite neatly done....the humanized anmals carried an interesting message, the only one in the entire book really

sorry i didn't quite get your post before. I haven't learned unfrequent english words much. but i get what your saying. I love how those animals were actually people. it felt like to me that he was trying to get rid of the pain of his situation by adding in something he loves. it was such a remarkable story though. so much detail.

the animals weren't animals or people. They were symboliam for an idea that Martell was trying to get across....about human relationships, etc...sorry for using too much literary language there....literature and literary criticism is my major interest

Kite Runner I read the book for school. It was one of the books in my final school exam. That gay rape part turned me off.
