Wow Beckham.  :saywhat:

Maybe that was against Germany. ;)

Anyways, I think Germany will beat Austria and finish second, it would be something if Austria won like Switzerland.

Damn it... we deserved to lose coming out the way we did in the first half. The team came out very flat and didn't work hard enough. Croatia had the right gameplan and got the points.

Now we have to beat Austria who is playing much better than anyone ever thought. Podolski and Jansen are doubtful, and Schweinsteiger is suspended. By the way, Schweinsteiger acted unprofessionally and was not retaliating. It should have been a yellow, not a red card.

Croatia got damn lucky with that second goal. What a shit deflection. I'm not going to make excuses though because half of the German team was piss-poor. Mario needs to sort his game out. He's not playing anywhere near his Super-Mario form.

The Croats appear to be very confident if they play Portugal in the semis: 'We are glad that we are not playing Portugal in the quarter-finals because it would be a pity for Ronaldo to make such an early exit from the tournament,' Vejic told a news conference in Croatia's training base.

I tell you something... Germany will beat Portugal in the first knockout round. We just have to take care of Austria. Germany is the perfect team to knock out the Portuguese. We are strong and physical. Portugal is small and will struggle against our midfield.

yeah i need some rest

I really thought Poland would be a much better (tougher) opponent, they finished ahead of Portugal in the qualifications, but we practically owned them with only 2 or 3 players from our first eleven.

the Ballack goal was nice and my Croatian B team played sensational, especially Pranjic and Rakitic. The Poles couldn't touch us on the left side and I'm happy that Klasnic scored seeing as he nearly died last year (kidney transplant)

Ballack's goal was a bid for goal of the tourney

Well, well.

Germany scrape through, yes they had chances against Austria, but Austria played great and pinned Germany back many times. If the austrians knew how to play football in the last third of the park they could have easily gotten a result.

German won't win the tournament that's certain, it is the worst German team i have ever seen in my time as a football supporter.

Apart from Lahm, Ballack Frings and Podolski they look really average, the defence is nothing to be feared and they lack confidence as a team.

4 players are enough to pull the tam through.

First of all, Odonkor is not a good player. He's a sub that can come in and try to make an impact on the game. As of now, our right mid position is the worst on the park and he can't even come on as a sub. That says a lot...

Germany really has been struggling in the last two games. As far as Klose is concerned, give him a break. He's been setting up Mario left and right. If Mario could figure out how to score from two yards out, Klose would have 4 assists by now. Klose can take the shot but he's setting his partner striker up for an easier (almost guaranteed) finish. What Mario Gomez is doing is beyond me. We need to get him going but I'm starting to lose my patience.

Ballack also needs to get involved more. It seems our team is a bit out of shape. There is not enough movement or confidence as there was in 2006. Schweinsteiger will have fresh legs and I hope he can make an impact in the next round. If we put him in his natural left mid position, Podolski can be pushed up top and Mario can be put on the bench.

It's going to be interesting either way. To be honest, I have no idea what to expect from Germany. The way I see it, we are the underdogs against Portugal. I'm still confident we can pull off a result. The knock-out stages are quite different.

Also, the comment about Metzelder being slow is quite true. He's a liability, but then again look at 2006 when Germany played against Portugal. We started Nowotny (sp?) at center back. The guy can't move worth shit. Metzelder is a legend compared to him. Nonetheless, Nowotny held his ground and it was enough to beat the Portuguese, although it took a hell of a performance from Schweinsteiger.

And keep in mind who Portugal's striker is. Nuno Gomez is nothing special. I'm not so worried about our center backs keeping him under control as much as I am worried about Ronaldo. I think we'll be find controlling Deco and Simao. Frings might miss out on the game but we should still be strong and disciplined enough to control those two guys. As far as Ronaldo is concerned, I believe Friedrich/Jansen and Lahm will have their hands full. If we can contain him, we should do fine. Remember, a tie is usually good enough for the Germans. Penalty kicks are the one area the Germans usually dominate in.
