New Training Style
« on: Jan 02, 2013, 03:23: PM »
I want you guys to tell me what you think.

I made up a different way of training. IMO, this is only for those who have proper control of the basics.

I applied the High Intensity Interval Training method in order to recover my basics and strengthen my muscles and get them used to the weird fs movements again. Also, I don't have the time to do regular training anymore so this takes around 40 - 45 minutes.

Here's an example.
30 seconds of strong atw, as many as you can do
rest for 10sec
30sec of weak atw, as many as possible
rest 10sec
30sec of hatw
rest 10
30 sec of "strong htw - weak htw"
rest 10
30 sec of "weak htw - strong htw"
rest 10
30 sec of htw - atw
rest 10
30 sec of weak htw - atw (in my case I'm doing weak in atw - atw because I still haven't got a good grasp of htw atw with my weak foot)

then rest 30 sec or 1min and then repeat 3 times this whole routine

I did this and then made another routine right after it based on the timings above except with moves like tatw, htatw, latw, magellan atw, and aatw

I haven't fsed after my first try of this because I had a slight pain in my thighs for 2-3 days. I'm gonna try out these moves after some time.

Has anybody done this kind of training before?

HIIT is meant to be for carb calorie burning, I don't think it will benefit you more than conventional training but it does look like a good change and a fun challenge.
Just a heads up in case you didn't know or other people want to try this, the ratio should be 2:1 until you've improved and then you move onto 3:1 like in RFs routine. If you didn't get that: 30 seconds of work would mean half as much rest(15 seconds).

thanks for your input, mate!
That's also the reason I did this - to burn away fat. I was drenched in sweat after the whole exercise!

I overall have to agree with LIS. Now, I normally would never say there is an incorrect way to train freestyle, but this seems a little odd. I guess it could really improve strength and stamina needed to perform the tricks, but be careful about it possibly being detrimental to your technique and execution. That being said, practicing technique when you are fatigued can really help you concentrate on executing the techniques properly.

It's not necessarily a correct or wrong way to do things, but I guess letting you find the results is the best way to know for sure. I've always just kind of trained. I've never had a set plan on what to train in freestyle. Only purely physical workouts I've done have resembled something like this. Anyways good luck. Nothing wrong with trying something new.

I tried for 5 mins doing atws today and yes my technique and consistency was a helluva lot better than it was before I did the training. Keep in mind I had some pain coz of the intensity of the first try of this workout so it will take some time for me to do this training more regularly and see the results. I had to take time off fs for 5 days or so.

On average, how many moves do you get done in the 30 seconds?

I've got really horrible averages coz I haven't trained in a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time
this was my first actual lowers training in 2012 if I'm not mistaken

for the atws I got 14 on average I think, maybe 12 on my weak foot
hatws maybe 10?
the htw-atw combo maybe 4 of them
