What is a normal learning rate?
« on: Jan 02, 2013, 11:31: AM »
Ok, so to be honest, I'm not far from a noob to freestyle. I started messing around with a few tricks, and from there, I've started practicing an hour a day maybe 5 days a week on my own for the past month. I don't take it overly serious, but I'm already landing TATWs HTWs, a few consecutive around the worlds and today I even manged to do an inside-outside  :celebrate: I can do a few things off my weak foot, but I need to improve there, but on my good foot, I'm not far from being able land LATW. Is this normal for someone who is so new to the sport? I don't know if this makes any differnce, but I am very fast at sprinting, would this help with foot speed?

just train hard bro... there are no short-cuts it's nice that you are able to learn those things pretty fast...  but if you are getting closer to tricks like tatw, latw it doesn't mean that you are gonna ignore basic tricks. At present i would give you  only one tip that is to work more and more on atws, htws, hatws and co, rev co. If you master these things well then you won't have many problems later on.
Talking about the speed factor i don't think sprinting helps in it in any ways you'll get foot speed only if you train them regularly with the right technique so don't think too much about harder tricks just focus on basics and it's gonna lay a very strong foundation of your lowers. good luck train hard.  :great:

Ok, thanks man, I'm trying my best to focus on the basics, I just tried the LATW the other day once and wasn't too far away. I think I'm gonna really focus on my weak foot, and make sure I'm able to get everything perfect on it, I'm sure it'd become a major stumbling block if I didn't. After that I think some stalls and I'd be pretty happy then, as regards a foundation

trains stalls in the same training sessions... whenever you are done and left with no stamina or strength train stalls you'll get both rest as well as you'll keep on learning something new  :)

Maybe 6 years ago you wouldn't be considered a noob or a normal learner but these days it's completely different and you fall into noob and normal rate.
I don't think sprinting would help, it's not the same muscles moving the same or even similar way. Completely different angle as well.

Not sure if sprinting really does help, but back in 2011, when I was doing athletics training (sprints) and freestyle at the same time, I was improving more than usual. Although Im not 100% sure if the athletic training was the cause of my better improvement...

But the fact is that FX or Azun are reaaaally fast runners.

I think many of you are missing the correlation of how someone may be a fast sprinter and have quick feet for lowers. It would be good fast twitch muscle fibers that cause both. How you develop your muscles may cause you to be a fast runner or have super fast feet for lowers. There's also a technique for running that most people overlook. Some people have a naturally better technique than others.

Training sprints probably won't help your foot speed for lowers, because you would be training your muscles for a different purpose.

1 hour a day, ca. 5 times a week is very good if you want to improve! When i started, i just went out fucking around with the ball, mostly not over half an hour, and maybe only 2-3 times a week..
