NY - Cop Shoots Dog In East Village

So this video has been causing some controversy in the US. I find this shocking. Many uneducated animal lovers are complaining that the police officer didn't need to shoot the dog. They think he should have handled it in a different way. Now, I know for a fact that the average adult male would most likely be hospitalized from fighting a pit bull if they are lucky. Many people would be killed by a pit bull attack like this. I think the cop did 100% the right thing, and I would have done the same thing if I was in his position.

I just found out the dog isn't actually dead. It's alive. I guess they took it to an emergency vet immediately after. Instead of criticizing the cop for shooting the dog, he should be given an award. He probably had alot to do with getting the dog to the vet. He just had to react to a life threatening situation, and he did it.

Ow dog survived?  A pitbull isnt an animal people should be allowed to have without any training. Its a really dangerous thing.

+1 for cop. He has the right to defend himself against any attack. Human or animal.

It's not that it's a pit bull that makes it dangerous. It's really an unfortunate situation. The dog's lack of intelligence does not detect that the woman and the police officers are not a threat  to him or his owner. The dog reacted instinctively to defend his owner. This forced the officer to react in self defense as well. I'm glad the dog survived as I do not see it as an evil dog, but I agree with the cop's decision to shoot the dog. My problem is that there are so many people that are so upset with the cop shooting a dog. If a human would have rushed the cop in a similar manner and got shot, no one would be sympathetic for the person. They would just say the cop did his job. Really sad that some people value a dog's life over a human's.

Yes, it would have. It also wouldn't have made national news if the dog mauled the cop. This is how fucked up people are. Also, the retards saying he shouldn't have used the gun are idiots. I've been around medium and large sized dogs all my life, and I know for a fact that you aren't going to fair very well against them in combat without a weapon. You are at minimum going to be bitten and most likely hospitalized. Shooting the dog was a good decision, and I'm glad the cop did it. I'm glad the dog is alive, and I hope he recovers soon. I praise the cops for showing sympathy for the dog even after be attacked by it. The dog didn't realize what it was doing, but the cops had to react.
