Oooooh noooo!!!! That would be the end of the world.

You know why freestyle will always be a super small niche? Because freestylers hate the football association. Football fans and players are the one group that freestylers are most likely to convert or at least make part of their audience. Instead you fools are pushing it away instead of pulling those fans in and making them fans and converts of freestyle.

Go on, make freestyle its own thing. Something nobody will associate with football. Why dont you just use a brick to freestyle with while you're at it.

I'm sorry but that growth strategy ain't ever gonna work. Fact.

you might be right. but the hate started oming from the footballers first. not us.

People hate on anything thats different or if they are jealous that they can't do it. But overall tons of footballers love freestyle and appreciate it. That's why you see pros and regular players try to learn a few tricks. The few comments about "you freestyle cuz you can't play footy" are usually just jealousy or just jokes to get you going. The jokes obviously got to most freestylers. No need to be so sensitive.

Adi I think you have misunderstood the whole meaning of the big meet in the Summer, it's a meeting where freestylers can meet up, freestyle, talk, party and relax. Not a week long  unpaid gig.

Nobody and I mean nobody would want to go to a meet buy a stage themselves and put outside a football stadium so drunk unappreciative football fans can walk past and not give us a second look, there's no fun or point in that at all. Honestly it's one of the worst ideas I have ever read lol

Freestyle is growing more and more without the association with football, look at the first Amsterdam meet to this years, the first Prague comp to this years. The growth rate has been impressive and we never went out to football stadiums doing free shows.

Things like RBSS, WFFCKL, Prague, Amsterdam and YouTube videos will make freestyle grow and become it's own sport. Not just linking it to football all the time, bmx isn't linked to tour de france, diving isn't linked to swimming, snowboarding isn't linked to skiiing, breakdancing isn't linked to ballet etc.

They are all sports and cultures that stand on their own two feet and freestyle is doing that itself right now and if you don't believe that freestyle has a future away from football then you shouldn't even be running this forum.

I clearly stated freestyling around the football areas as only a part of the meet. I said you could do your own thing but having something around a big crowd could be cool. Maybe a one day thing.

Also, freestyle soccer is not comparable to breakdancing or bikes. Those are different things. Comparing freestyle basketball to soccer is a fair comparison. To freestyle with a football or basketball you probably come from a soccer or basketball background and that will continue to be a trend simply because you need some ability with the ball to get started. Tell me how many freestylers never played footy? I bet nobody. Breakdancing and diving are ridiculous comparisons for too many reasons to list.

I disagree with the growth strategy around freestyle football. I'm not saying you have to go to football to grow, but what I am saying is that going AWAY from it completely as most you want want, is a recipe for negative growth. You're being too proud and ignorant if you think you're too good for the football audience. You should be using all sources to help growth.

I might not freestyle anymore but don't think I haven't been around this for long enough. I'm not a fool and know my business. the biggest problem for freestyle is the young, imature audience who doesn't know business and how to grow the sport.

I agree with some of the things both Adi and Macca said, the truth is somewhere in between probably.

One thing I have to disagree with is the football background part. Nowadays, it's more common for kids to go straight into freestyle without ever playing football before. Sure, the older generations mostly came from football, but that's not the situation anymore. I even think that ATM, it's more common to find freestylers who can't play football than vice versa. (which is neither good or bad)

@Adi, we should let people interested comes to us rather than go to them. let them come to us for the love of freestyle not for anything else.

Boxing is going low, should they go and promote themselves to the WWE fans? That is only done for money and profits. not to expand boxing but for financial gain.

If i own a brand i would probably do what you said and get football fans to come to freestyle. but i dont :)

and honestly i know, the purpose of your post = get more members= forum becomes popular=your website does well =business/fame.
its not for freestyle. am i right or am i right?

The sport is growing just fine imo. Freestylers are doing gigs everyday, when there's an international meet which you've paid your own money to get to to meet people you see maybe once a year not even that then you don't wanna do a free gig with them. Think about that.
