Inconsistent.
« on: Apr 07, 2011, 08:59: AM »
Ok, I know consistency comes with practice but I practice so hard and feel like I am getting no results. My atw record is 13, my htw record is only 8, and when doing atw-htw combos the highest I ever get is like 8. I can do tatw, matw, and amatw anytime, but latw is inconsistent. I know I just need to practice more but I don't really understand why one day I'll do great and have no problems, and then the next I can't even do 2 atws or 2 htws clean. Its driving me crazy. I have like 2 days great, 2 days bad, etc. The only consistency I have found is in uppers. Did any of you have problems like this?

It could be tiredness, but I normally watch a vid before I train. So motavation is no problem for me especially because I have only been fsing for about 6 months or so. So I always am motivated until I find my self messing up on realllly simple tricks and combos.

Do the same combo 5 times in a row or 10 times all up before moving on to another combo. If your consistancy doesn't improve, there's something wrong with you.

This. And you should try boosting your confidence by settings realistic goals.

I used to and still do a little bit think exactly the same. To improve those records you really have to push yourself and not do "chill freestyle" wich happens when you go out with pretty much no goal and just repeat what you have done before 100 times. You have to push past what you have already done to improve.

If you can't do amatw amatw nt 3/5 times, don't go ahead and try amatw amatw amatw nt or in a combo....
basically, if your training amatw nt's combos, and your struggling with amatw's, practice amatw's then move to the nt part....
i know freestylers who are trying tatw amatw nt's, but have trouble doing cross amatw nt.........

I can do amatw no problem, and I haven't really attempted nt yet. I was trying to build a solid basic foundation before going to nt. Like i think that knowing how to get for example atw atw htw htw atw atw htw htw atw atw consistent will make me have a good foundation to add tricks? or am i training way wrong

Although I'm seriously terrible at lowers, I still don't think you're doing wrong. Building a good basic is essential in moving up to harder tricks. But I think sometimes you should try out some very simple no touches just to get the hang of it, like (forgive me everybody in the "hardcore" department) co  ATW nt, co  HTW nt, and even move on to TATW ATW nt, TATW HTW nt, co MATW nt, co AMATW nt... That will set up some good basics for no touch combos.
About the inconsistency thing, may be you are tired before you start practicing? or may be the lack of motivation at play? May be you can try like this. Set your self a "routine" or "basic" combo consisting of all the easy tricks, like for example hATW - hATW - ATW - HTW - HTW - ATW - HTW - HTW - ATW - co - HTW, and try doing this combo at least for 20 minutes before each practice. Eventually this combo of yours will become consistent, and because it consists of all the basic tricks, you should get the hang of doing specific things, for example hATW to hATW, HTW to ATW... etc. Now it just the matter of more practice to perfect harder and longer combos.

Maybe try to forget about your records for a little while.
Focus on style.

Ahahah, that's why your lowers are shitty.
