New Freestyle game.
« on: Nov 22, 2010, 06:35: AM »
I hope it's OK to post this.

But some of the guys behind England beach soccer and UK Footvolley have come up with an idea of a game that fuses the best of freestyling, with the other 2 sports, and it looks like this new sport will get it's first outing in the Middle East just after Christmas. I was in a meeting with the head man today and he told me the two biggest problems will be finding players with suitable freestyle skills and giving the sport a great name..

Because I fancy a trip to the sunshine, I'm taking it upon myself to try and find some players and a name, and I'd heard of this site and thought this would be the best place to start.

If any of you think you have the skills, and fancy a first class trip to the heat in the middle of the winter, email me your biog and maybe a link to a video, I'll then pass it on to the boss - my email is mitch@englandbeachsoccer.com

All ideas for naming the sport also welcome, I mean, how many chances do you get to name a sport, and with these guys track record, It's got a real chance of working!

could you perhaps explain the game more? how does it fuse the 2 sports together? and there are plenty of capable fsers here, but not much of us like normal football.
BONER!

It's a bit like footvolley, so you play the ball over a net.
teams of 3 or 4, you can have as many touches each / or per team but must get the ball back over the net within 30 seconds.
If the ball hits the sand (oh, it's played on soft sand) it's a point to the other team, and the team who let the ball hit the sand start the play off again.
Play is started by a serve - the ball must go over the net, but can in any manor, again the sicker the serve, the more points scored
There is also a load of judges (like snowboarding), and each team gets awarded and deducted points per time they receive then, pass the ball over the net.

Basically it's just two groups, keeping the ball up for up to 30 seconds, pulling of the best tricks they can, then passing trying to ground the ball over the other side of the net to stop the other team scoring..

I'm not really doing it justice!! But I saw some of the England beach soccer team playing it today and i was wicked, every player trying to out do the other, but this time you really can rub your opponents face in the sand wile doing it!

It's a bit like that, football tennis - footvolley is part of the game, but this is more about the tricks and freestyling than simply getting the ball back over the net.

More points are scored for the tricks, than getting the ball over the net and down.

Thanks for your email Ethan, the boss loved it, no doubt he will be in touch. Your video was wicked, hope to see you on the sand!

Oh, the name of the sport it confirmed - it's Trickball.

i dont think sand would be a suitable surface for freestyling/tricks
also it pretty much just sounds like RBSS but with a net...

Forgive me RBSS?

Agreed it will be tough on sand, but the soft sand gives a nice surface to land on for bikes etc.

It's not going to be suited to everyone, but from the feedback we are getting loads of players seem to like it (and thanks everyone for the emails and links), as do the brands.

It will be nice to see some freestylers in a team, and with the music and beach vibe I think this is gonna be great.

i agree, i cant even fs in grass if i dont have stable ground, ive played this before at my school indoors, it was actually alot of fun, the point was to not drop the ball only though. Sounds like a ton of fun if other fsers did it, but id rather it be indoors
BONER!
