replica vs matchball ?
« on: Oct 09, 2010, 07:25: PM »
Hey guys, 2 parts to my post

1) i have been wondering, what is actually the difference between a replica and a matchball in terms of freestyling with it?

2) i have a replica of the 2010 world cup ball, is it good for me to freestyle with it?

thank you in advance ;]

A good freestyler can use any ball. A shit freestyler must use a certain ball, that's the difference.

Yes it is.

I dont agree with that at all^

Imo the match ball has better grip, its not as heavy, doesnt hold water, lasts much longer, stays round lol..
so imo buy a matchball, lasts for years literally and just genrally better!

Man it doesn't make it HUGE difference.  It's not like it'll greatly affect your ability, asking for a video to see the differences is ridiculous.

On the long run (2 years+) a matchball is cheaper than tons of replicas which rip and tear in a couple months.

I know you're obviously skeptical about paying so much for a ball, but you have to stop being a cheap bastard and just buy one and you'll see the difference, seriously.  :embarrassed:

dont agree at all with Elias, of course its not a massive difference but matchballs just feel much better to freestyle with, im in the same boat as Jak, when i do hatws or atws i spin the ball a lot and sometimes replicas just slip off, matchballs have better grip and when its raining you can still use em, they last for ages, look cooler and feel cooler, get one if you can

lol why doesn't anyone agree with me :(
I'm not talking about nike match balls and shit like that of course. But if you have two brand new balls, one's a replica and the other's a match ball and you can't do the same stuff with one ball compared with the other..you're ability to adjust to different balls isn't good.

why do you need to adjust? since when does that define you as a good freestyler?

Matchballs are much better, great value for money when you can get them at half price because of new models. I was skeptical about match balls at first but now I wouldn't touch a replica with a ten foot barge pole. If you love freestyle and do it every day then it only makes sense you use the best equipment if you can.

You don't need to adjust, it's a good ability to have. Especially when it comes to some LPs.
