Sven excited by Man City link with Ronaldinho

Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson admits he would love Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra to buy Ronaldinho this summer following a tenuous link with the under-fire Barcelona striker.

The Brazil forward, currently out injured, could leave the Camp Nou in the summer and his brother and representative Roberto De Assis was entertained at the City of Manchester stadium on Saturday by club directors ahead of the 2-0 defeat by Chelsea.

'It was the first time I had heard such a thing, so I really hope it is true,' said Eriksson.

'We would be able to find a place in our team for him, I can guarantee that.

'I will phone the owners. It was a surprise, but if they want to package Ronaldinho for me I would accept him and be very happy.'

And Eriksson joked about signing another high-profile Brazilian when he added: 'I would be happy to take Kaka at the same time!'

------------------------------------------------

That'd be a hell of a signing but I don't think it will ever happen. Sure hope it does though...

... or it's the simple difference in the way the football is played in Spain compared to England.

The Premiership has a much more direct style of football which often leaves lots of space open, especially behind the defenders. The English clubs push their defensive line up a lot more than the teams in Spain and Italy. This leaves a lot less room for fast strikers to expose in Spain and Italy, therefore reducing the effectiveness of Henry.

 :hello:

Anyways, lets get this topic back on track. It's about transfers and rumors.
Very very true and thats why if i was a player and i was having major success in that league i would not leave i would stick to wat i was good at......apperently havnt really looked into it but he mite head back to the premiership...he misses his daughter and the rest of that kinda stuff....

United may be embroiled in a fascinating climax to the current campaign, but Sir Alex Ferguson is already planning to strengthen his squad for next season.

The United manager has assembled a squad of sufficient strength in depth to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League this term, but he has earmarked areas which need further reinforcements.

"I don't need to spend, but I will," Sir Alex is quoted as saying in the News of the World. "I think there is an area where we are short and we can stock up on that a bit.

"It is not easy getting the best players here. But we have to because when you have a lot of quality in your squad you have to be absolutely correct on who you bring in.

"A player has a chance to come to a club like United and he would say 'that's my challenge to be in the team.' That's what good players do."

Sir Alex brought in Owen Hargreaves, Carlos Tevez, Anderson and Nani last summer and, after the quartet's unquestionable success this season, the Scot admits he will have one eye on the future when he re-enters the transfer market.

"I don't think I will bring in as many as last season and if we buy players it will probably be young ones," he said. "This year Tevez, Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson have been really fantastic for us. Those four players have made a big contribution to our season."

---

Hell yeah, I love seeing new players brought in.

Or Berbatov or Benzema if they're still options, but we don't really need them. A goalkeeper would be ideal.

true about the goalie...and why would we want or need Berbatov? Or Benzema for that matter? The only reason I'd get them is to prevent another one of the big 4 from getting them hehe

Scholes and Giggs won't go.

I can't believe we're keeping Brown, he's good though, so that's cool. Ronaldo must stay, Ferdinand is a must too, and I like the way Carrick plays.

Liverpool not paying back their loan? Hahaha.
