American Football is not a pussy sport. Give me all that shit about pads, helmets, etc. and still, if you get fucking drilled by a 240 lb. linebacker, and still tell me it is a pussy sport, then you have not played it. Soccer, as much as I love it, is a fucking pussy sport. It is my favorite sport next to MMA, but it is a "gentleman's game" and there is nothing wrong with that. But to try and say that soccer is more hardcore and 'tougher' than football, you have to be out your rabbit ass mind.

You watch soccer on tv, and as soon as someone gets hit, they fall on the ground and roll around like little bitches. In American football, you get fucking drilled and you get up and shit, no fouls. Soccer>Football, but football is a tougher sport.

Hook out.

if you put "tough" in terms of how much and often you get hit, sure. but if you put "tough" in terms of physical fitness, not a chance. albeit, there are incredible athletes like terrell owens, etc who are obviously physically fit. but it's obvious that a soccer player runs much much more, and in that aspect, the sport is very tough.

well, some of them are, but there's like 50+ players on most highschool football teams. over half of them aren't popular and started playing to try to become popular. american tv only portrays the lives of the 4 or 5 that are the popular ones.  most of them are lame, and think that if they play football, they will become popular since american culture likes it.

Ahh, gotcha.

Oh yeah, absolutely. In terms of endurance and fitness, soccer is a much tougher sport, and I would even go as far as saying the amount of skill required to play is higher. I know a lot of people who can catch a ball extremely well and throw a ball far or use a lot of force in blocking people, but have yet to meet a lot of people who can shoot a ball upper 90 often with excellent form.

I meant in terms of overall toughness in getting hit-- taking a hit to the ribs or that whiplash you get everytime a linebacker is cracking you, there is no comparison in soccer other than a slide tackle to the legs, which is a foul.

As far as athleticism goes though, that is a tough one. Some of the fastest athletes with the best 40 yard times are in football, or who can jump the highest, and push the most weight. That should count for something as well.

I am in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. But I am not that good. I am only a whitebelt and came back recently after an injury. I have, in accumulated total,  only practiced for 3 months.

well, american football does have alot of contact, but to say that soccer doesn't is extremely harsh. in soccer they just don't do rugby tackles and stuff.  it would make the game stupid if they did.  there are many hard hits in soccer from slide tackles, kicks, and more. the main reason soccer players hit the ground more is that they are hit in their legs which is easier to take someone of their feet. also the reason you don't see football players do this, is the whole point is to try not to be tackled. you also can't con a ref by going down in football, so that useless. the more contact in football is also done to a more sturdy part of the body than in soccer. its much easier to injure someone's leg than their torso. i've played both sports, but i didn't like football. it had too many stoppages, and too much specialization in positions.  i know what it feels like to be tackled, and in all honesty, the pads take most of the force from the blow. normally you don't even feel it. its definitely much more painful to get kicked in the shins than to be tackled.  soccer actually is probably a better sport to prepare someone for fighting as well.  it teaches you how to use your longest weapon to kick your opponent. where, football doesn't have quite as good of techniques for fights. the tackle really doesn't do much against someone who knows anything about fighting. it can be easily avoided by side stepping,, and it can be countered by a kick or jab.
