Adidas Adipure 2011 for blocking?
« on: Oct 04, 2011, 03:37: AM »
Hello! I'm planning to buy new ball. I play mostly blocks, clippers etc. I used Monta so far and it was pretty cool for blocking! On meetings I have tried matchballs like Europass or Finale 11 but they aren't that good for blocks, they are too slippy ;/ the only matchball wasn't that bad for blocking was Teamgeist. Adipure 2011 looks like it is very similar to teamgeist. is it true?
BTW. I play in jeans.

IMHO, to buy a matchball for that kind of stuff is wasting your money, because you'll be spending quite a bit of money for a ball that's not optimal for the stuff you wanna do with it.

I'd suggest you get yourself a ball made out of rubber, my suggestion would be the new Kube ball:

So why do Yamato, Yosshi, Akito etc. use matchballs?

Because they're preparing for the WFS comp. If you haven't noticed, they're using the ball that's the official ball for the WFS comp in Japan, but other than that, none of them ever used matchballs. Just check their videos...

Same thing as when freestylers use Monta balls prior to RBSS competitions.

P.S. Yosshi never uses the Speedcell matchball. ;)

Yosshi has been using that ball since the first Samurai video that was released in 2009 and along with the Monta ball, it's the ball he uses the most. It's Nike's equivalent of the Adidas Glider balls - cheap ass, but really solid ball with nice grip. It's called "Strike".

Do you maybe have an offert on e-bay with this Nike ball? I can't find it ;/ and is it slippy?

Or maybe Nike T90 Saber will be good? it looks pretty nice and sticky. :o

Dude, just write "Nike Strike ball" in Google and it will give you loads of info. Doesn't matter if it's the T90 or the Premier League model, because it's the SAME ball, just a different design. And no, it isn't slippy, the grip is actually quite good, which I already wrote in my post above.

I don't recommend the Saber model at all! I have it and it's slippery as hell. Maybe later on when you wear out the first layer, but still wouldn't risk it.

Seriously, just get some rubber ball (Kube, Urbanball, etc.) or any of the cheap balls from Adidas (Glider) or Nike (Strike). One more that I can recommend: Adidas Top Training balls. Something between the cheap ball and the matchball.

One question: do you care more about getting a good ball for yourself or just getting the same thing the freestylers you look up to use?

P.S. Just typed in "Nike Strike ball" in the ebay search and it gave me 46 results. How on Earth did you manage to not find it? lol

Thank you for your help Miran. I don't look for getting the same that other freestyler use but I don't want to buy a shit. And about this Nike Strike ball, I couldn't find it because I thought that for example black one is other that this one Yamato uses and it could be bad. Anyway I have ordered Adidas Speedcell Top Replique ball. Hope it will be no slippy and good for blocking.
