There is loads of these kids. Having the skill from an early age is usefull but you need speed, stamina, strength, height, presence and spacial awarness.  They are more important.

if you actually talk to professional scouts technique and skill is what they are looking for this age to take kids in programs. athletic ability is much more common than topic technical ability. and on the topic of freddy adu, he has actually been a pretty successful professional player. he was playing for a first division side when he was 14, and he is still only 19. i'm sorry that so many people actually expected him to live up to the hype despite how unrealistic it was.  he is now a national team member, and is on a first division team. he still has much time to improve.

in time and the right environment, look for him to prove himself a very worthwhile professional player.  he hasn't quite found his niche yet i.e. at the professional level, he hasn't exactly found a position for him to play.  people forget that he is STILL so young.  landon donovan pt II in my opinion (in that some people are writing him off very early in his career)
