Hehehehe Nas ended Jay-z's career even if it was for about a year.

Hahahaha, Nas has been looking up to Jay Z's status so much he's got his head in his ass. Nas hasn't been as great as you think. Jay Z has been doing his thing for years now and every album is quite a success. I don't know if you listen to it. Maybe you just hate him so much that you're not giving it a try.

Nas over-rides just about every beat and tries to do too much with every song. He could have much better songs if he didn't do so damn much on them. His album will be good and I like Nas, but he doesn't dominate Jay Z like you say. I don't even know if he's better. I just think lots of people give him too much credit because he's "NAS." Fuck that...
You have to understand Nas has always been a much more established rapper than Jay-Z. Even after 5 albums including his greatest album Reasonable Doubt, people where still shocked that Jay-Z was stepping to Nas who was already considered a legend. Thats how most people saw it. I listen to Jay-Z I love some of his song but as an lyrically and musically hes not my cup of tea. While Nas, Biggie and Reakwon  / Ghostface Killa where battling for King of New York title in 94/95 Jay-Z who is older than all of them was still in Biggies shadows, he really didn't emerge as a major player in the rap game since recent times. Sorry I don't see them in the same class or category.

Nas is a great rapper.

Jay-z is a great rapper and business man.
It doesn't matter how good of a business man any rapper, footballer, actor, politician ect is, I wont like them more because of money which wont benefit me in anyway.

obviously it is different, jay-z and nas you cannot compare, lyrically or flow wise they are different.

For more jay is my fave, i prefer the beats and the lyricals andf the flow it just appeals to me more, i am white so yeah lol

But i still listen to Nas alot, he is brilliant.

Sating jay-z is pathetic is pretty stupid, someone who has sold 50 million albums isnt pathetic. You gotta respect his hard work and dedication not only in rap but other things and expanding his talent, he tries different things which many rappers wont because its 'commercial' but i dont think jay does it for that, he has enough money.

Why has Nas came into this anyway?

Because Nas sonned Jay-Z and you cant name Jay-Z without Nas being mentioned.   :-*

Lol anyway I'm not a big Jay-Z fan musically . I've had this argument with my brother a million times. I like some of his music, trust me Dead Presidents PtII is one of my favorite songs. He used to have such a great work play and unique style I acknowledges hes got some classic material. But he doesn't get much play from me compared to Nas, G-Rap, Mobb Deep ect..

Saying hes pathetic was to get a bit of a reaction from you, and I knew Adi would respond as well. Lured him like an animal into a cage.

Last seen out of state where I drop my slang
I'm deep in the South kickin up top game
Bouncin on the highway switchin fo' lanes
Screamin through the sunroof - money ain't a thang
Your worst fear confirmed
Me and my fam' roll tight like The Firm
Gettin down for life, thats right, you better learn
Why play with fire, burn
We get together like a choir, to acquire what we desire
We do dirt like worms, produce G's like sperm
'til legs spread like germs
I got extensive hoes, with expensive clothes
and I sip fine wines and spit vintage flows
What y'all don't know?

Love that verse, it has a great flow. When you read it doesnt look as impressive lol

It annoys me when people take credit away from rappers as soon as they become a commercial success. Lupe was hailed before his current album, but now that he's got commercial success many people are starting to hate on him. I feel like Jay Z gets a lot of shit for this exact thing.  You talk about Jay Z not being as good as some lyrically. Of course that's true, but what he lacks lyrically he makes up for with his beats and his ability to make big singles. There are plenty of rappers out there whose lyrics are poetry but they make no hits. They get no commercial success because they don't know how to make singles. You might say "oh it's because people don't know what good music is" but that's not all true. To some extent it is, with crap rappers like Soulja Boy making it big. But then again you have rappers like Lupe Fiasco, Common, T.I, etc. who are big but have true Hip Hop talent.
