Freestyle Chat / Re: Future for the forum?
« on: Jun 05, 2013, 02:34: AM »
I remember back in the day when this forum and the NAS forum were buzzing, there was so many topics daily and so many people chatting  about everything. The days of Lindroth, Palle, Timo, Legend all being on the forums and interacting with people are long gone in my opinion. I've just looked on this site and videos barely even get a response from people.

The problem is people just use social networks to chat, everyone has Facebook, Twitter etc on their phones to talk to people. Gone are the days when people didn't have those choices and all they had was this place. It is sad to see that this place that housed the birth of football freestyle for many people to be dead, but I don't see people changing their ways. If a freestyler can post a video on Facebook where they have hundreds of freestylers as their friend to watch it and receive feedback that way...then forums aren't coming back.

General Chat / Re: Body training and working out

Haha, do not preach to me about body builders or people who have written books. I've heard all that before. And why bring up billy wingrove in a gym article? That's pretty ridiculous and he doesn't have any relevance to the topic, do you know billy? have you met him personally? A professional is someone who makes a living off what they do, correct? Billy makes money from being a freestyler, he may not be the "best" but he still makes a life for himself out of it, quit hating.

I didn't doubt squats and deadlifts are important, why do you think I do them! Please talk to me about your routine, so I can criticize it, scrutinize it and pick your faults oh mighty gym god who does one set of deadlifts. You joker. How often do you go the gym? What muscle groups did you work out yesterday?

Oh man. At first I read deadlifts and BB rows and thought this guy knows some shit..then I read on.
4 sets of deadlifts?  :embarrassed:
This should be one of your heavier lifts. If you can do 4 sets of it, up the load. After a set of deadlifts you shouldn't be able to perform another set. If you can, the weight isn't high enough for you.
6 different exercises for just for biceps? :embarrassed:
You know how redundant that is? I know what you're thinking, "I have to hit the muscle at all these different angles to make them grow".

You're probably over training too judging from what you've already told me.
One more thing I should let everyone know. When you find a work out routine on random sites, make sure they're designed for you. What I mean is, don't do a fucking body builder work out if you aren't already a body builder. These work outs work for body builders. If anyone else does them they'll see very slow results.

6 exercises your routine should contain. Squats, deadlifts, bench press, over head press, barbell rows and pull ups.

For anyone that wants to start lifting look up "strong lifts" and "starting strength". Both of these will help you a lot.

Haha, pal. I train with a professional rugby player for Sale Sharks, he has a degree in sports science. I think he is of a better standard to set a workout routine than you. One set of deadlifts, no!!!!! We work off on the heaviest weight and then work your way down, that way by the time you are done your back is exhausted. What you have said there is like saying you should do one set on the bench press as it's the heaviest chest lift you do.

Also, did you not read my comment, I said I wouldn't usually do 6 different exercises (I realised I wrote on the original post as if I'd usually do that many, so I confused you) on a normal day I'd usually do 3 different exercises, I have big arms. The reason I did it today is because I'm going out. Yes, pretty vain but we all do it, having your arms looking pump in a tight t-shirt.

Yeah I workout a lot. Routine is 3 days on 1 day off.

I take a different array of supplements, right now as I'm bulking up I'm taking USN Anabolic Muscle fuel which you take an hour before the gym and within 30 minutes of finishing a workout. That is a mass gainer. I also take BSN Cell Mass which is a Creatine, designed to improve recovery and build mass, you take that as soon as you finish a workout, so it hits your muscles straight away. These supplements basically put on the muscle before summer, so you gain weight fast. By the end of this month / mid to next month I'll cut out both of the creatine and mass gainer and just start taking BSN Syntha 6 (Whey Protein, in my opinion the best whey you can get) as this will help with getting that cut and ripped look ready for the beach!

There's also a load of other things you can take, such as "cutters" but let's not talk about them ;)

Anyone need any advice on supplements, training routines or anything else let me know as I'd be more than happy to help.

Freestyle Chat / Re: Freestyle Scene = Dead?
« on: Mar 06, 2011, 10:55: AM »
Haha, thanks guys!!

I'd also like to say that in a way I do miss the freestyle scene and what it's done for me! I met so many cool people when I was doing freestyle, it's opened up a lot of doors for me...now I do a lot of commercials and sports modelling...but I'd definitely not have got into either of these without freestyle. I remember organising the first UK meet with Benbow on this forum back in 2006? This was probably the first BIG meet in freestyle, without this forum, I'd of not met a lot of people I have high regard for today.

I'd go as far as saying with freestyle these days, people need to remember why they really do it, because come on, when you pull something incredible off, it's pretty fucking cool. I was most happy freestyling when I was having fun with my mates, not performing and earning money, sometimes I think people forget that.

Looking back, I wish I'd of started freestyling when I was a lot younger, kids/teenagers have so much freetime, but to put it simply, there was nowhere to go and nobody knew about the sport. Soccergrip/Beyond Football, has provided a home for freestyle for a very long time, Adi has spent so much of his time dedicated to this site and for me....this will always be where Freestyle Football for me as we know it was BORN!

Hey guys,

I thought I'd contribute to this topic, I doubt many of you guys really know who I am as I don't think many of the old school freestylers are still on this forum or even freestyle much these days. Anyway I used to freestyle and be on this forum back in the days of Lindroth, Legend, Palle, Mitchy, John Clarke, Matte Linder, Frejd etc etc. YouTube didn't exist back then, or was still in its infancy, so to come to a forum was the main way to watch a new video. You had to download the videos to watch them, so I've got on my old computer thousands of videos from back in the dark ages haha.

Overall I'd say forums become less relevant to freestylers over time. I wouldn't say the sport is dead. Many of us guys who were on the first soccergrip were around when the hardcore boom started and crazy ass combos kicked in. That was when the sport for me was new, fresh and exciting. I remember jumping on the forum every day excited to see new videos as there was no youtube to simply search, I'd always look forward to coming and seeing Lindroth posting a video every day showing something ridiculous that he'd done that day. Back then, the scene was so small compared to now where there are thousands of freestylers that everyone knew everyone and Palle seemed like a GOD of freestyle.

A lot of freestylers, lose interest in freestyle football as they get older, I for one certainly did. As soon as I hit 18/19, freestyle wasn't a priority for me anymore. I didn't really care about checking videos anymore or learning new tricks. Other things take priority, I'm sure you can all work these out, don't need to spell it out. I'd also say that a lot of freestylers as they grow up, don't lose interest in freestyle, they lose interest in the forums, as they don't feel like they have a place there anymore. I remember when I created the NAS forum back in the day, I lost interest in that because the vast majority of the guys on there were so young, you'd get a lot of shit topics and a lot of shit posts being posted every day. I don't know what it's like on this forum now, but that is what happened on the NAS forum.

From a personal perspective I can tell you, freestyle is not dead. I run my own agency and this is definitely not proving freestyle is dead. Freestyle has definitely moved on from the days I used to freestyle, it's more commercial and is no longer something nobody knows about. I think the focus for many guys nowadays is to make money out of their talents. This is why you get a lot of crap freestylers undercutting agencies trying to gain work. That's a fact.

I'd also say that due to the sport expanding and everyone seems to be doing ridiculous things, people won't post videos of them doing a tatw nt atatw anymore because they won't get any recognition. It's harder for freestylers to stand out from the crowd now and to show how good they are due to the vast majority of freestylers in the sport. I just think it's a fact that is hard to face that once people get to a certain age, freestyle forums become a minor part in their life. To keep growing as a forum, you'll have to attract the younger generations and then the forum will gain more members and more posts, but will also get a lot of stupid crap being posted.

Anyway, I'd write more but that'll do for now.

Peace

Freestyle Chat / POST FOR EVERYONE
« on: Aug 02, 2010, 11:53: AM »
Right guys,

I'm mainly looking at the older freestylers here. Back in our day there was a freestyler called John Clark who made a vid and he made his own rap to it...with the lyrics "my name is john clark bitch now u fuckin know me"

I NEEED to see this video again as it was absolutely hilarious back in the day. Does anyone still have this video? If you do please upload it to youtube as it was an absolute classic.

Benbow? Golo? Legend? Anyone else who was around then, you know what I'm talking about please help reunite the freestyle world with this amazing video hahaha.

PEACE

An organiser, came to my company asking for 20 football freestylers. It's a very well known international brand, so they aren't going in with a mickey mouse budget.

Freestyle Chat / 10th & 14th October
« on: Aug 30, 2009, 01:59: AM »
Hey guys,

I need a LOT of football freestylers for an event on the 10th & 14th of October. I'm mainly looking for UK & Irish guys for this but if I can't find the numbers I might have to look elsewhere in Europe.

I can't put details of the job on here yet as it's not all confirmed, I am really just looking to ensure I have the number of freestylers the client needs, so that I can confirm it, once it's been negotiated. So if you are interested email info@ukfootballfreestyle.co.uk and title it OCTOBER JOB, add a video link of yourself (performing preferrably) and a brief CV of the performances you have done.

I've already got a lot of guys interested in this. So get in touch ASAP, if you want to get involved.
