Is Drogba injured? Anyone know if he'll be back for this?
-
I predict a final between Nigeria and Ghana. I hope Nigeria can put the negative things to the side and just play some good football again.
-
Is Drogba injured? Anyone know if he'll be back for this?
i think so. he'll most probably miss most of the competition.
ill go with adis prediction, either nigeria or ivory coast in the final against ghana.
-
final Senegal v Ivory Coast
-
Nigeria have too many new faces to win the competition but they should go far.
I honestly don't think Ivory Coast can win without Drgoba.
Seningal and Morocco should be the most entertaining teams, they always play attacking football.
Mali is the dark horse.
Cameroon can win it but will probably get knocked out by Ivory Coast .
Ghana will most probably win seeing as they are the hosts.
Egypt are defending champions they shouldn't be taken lightly.
-
ivory coast can be in the final but adi's prediction right
-
Comon Cameron, i really want them to get to the finals, they seem to have amazing players eto'o ect but never get anywhere :-[.
-
I love Ghana ! They played like Brazil in Africa!
-
I love Ghana ! They played like Brazil in Africa!
Hell yeah man O0, they are the african copy of brazil ^-^
-
Im not into the african camhpionship, but i bet Nigeria will win! What team won last time?
-
Egypt. Bastards broke my heart when they beat Ivory Coast on penalties in the final. Drogba was having one of those games, the ones when he misses from point black with no keeper games.
-
Now when you saying that.. I think i saw the semifinal and final on Eurospart the other day. The semifinal where settled in penalties too right?
-
Hmm my memory is a little fuzzy I think I remember Ivory Coast and Cameroon finishing on penalties but then again im not 100% sure. :-[
-
Yeah.. i think drogba missed hes penalty.. but eto scored! Whata match :)
-
I love Ghana ! They played like Brazil in Africa!
Hell yeah man O0, they are the african copy of brazil ^-^
Yup. They only need solid defence now.
-

Exactly, did you see how lucky italy was to beat Ghana in the world cup?, their defence was their own problem, their striking was unbeleivable O0

Where's next Kuffor? Where is it?
-
Kuffor is a disaster, and i dont know where is the next 1 :'(
-
Kuffor is a disaster, and i dont know where is the next 1 :'(
Is he? He played well in his early year at Munich
-
ivory coast without drogba will be interesting to watch. the last time they were without drogba they beat serbia and montenegro 3-2 in the world cup. they played well. i hope they play like arsenal without henry
-
Kuffor is a disaster, and i dont know where is the next 1 :'(
Is he? He played well in his early year at Munich
Yes thats one year, im talking bout allround :'(.
-
Ivory Coast need Drogbas leadership.
-
Ivory Coast need Drogbas leadership.
Yeh i agree Melbourne, he would be a great captain :rockit:
-
(http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/5466/2006052506311274315zo8.jpg)
My man Bonaventure Kalou should do a good enough job leading the team he was the captain until a while before the last nations cup.
-
Yeh man im pretty certain he will, very reliable ^-^
-
Diouf will lead Senegal to the Cup
-
Senegal won't even make the semi finals, if they do you can have my beloved Nas sig.
-
i personally think that something needs to be done with all of the continental tournaments. i say that each summer apart from the WC that one continent should have its tournament. this would give players a rest and wont interfere with club seasons.
-
Senegal won't even make the semi finals, if they do you can have my beloved Nas sig.
i'd rather not
but Senegal will win it
-
I think Senegal has a v good chance at the trophy ! Ivory Coast is holding on to Drogba's feet like they were made of gold
that is why if he plays.. IvoryC may take it all
-
I doubt Drogba plays
-
yeah especially with the way chelsea are with him. NIGERIA all the way. i swear if we had good management we would be ranked at least in the top 10
-

Seems impossibe...money talks.
-
true thats the sad thing. i think this is one of the reasons why platini wanted shorter seasons by making each league have 18 teams instead of 20
-
Basically, if the league's nation isn't in the tournament, they won't give a shit.
-
Its getting closer and closer i can't wait its gonna be hot and theres no guessing the winner :rockit:
-
Alright Tito, but ive got mine in my head .
-
yes, yes congrats
-
its almost here. does anyone know if they will show any games on Fox Soccer Channel???
-
I don't think so.

Drogba Glad To Be Back Chelsea star Didier Drogba is delighted to be back in the frame again after missed his side’s last eight matches due to undergoing an operation on his knee in early December.
Drogba Glad To Be Back
Chelsea supporters were equally delighted to see the Ivorian hitman was amongst the substitutes for Chelsea’s FA Cup victory over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, though it was something of a tease as he will be flying out on Sunday to represent his country in the African Cup of Nations in Ghana.
"It is a difficult situation for me and for all the African players who are at the club and we want to play the maximum games for Chelsea," said Drogba.
"I am feeling good, recovering from this injury, and it's good to be on the pitch and start training again."
Drogba was criticized in some circles for the timing of his operation, but he insists that he had the team’s best interest in mind and is not at all surprised that the team coped so well without him, collecting 13 out of 18 points in the Premier League
"It is what I expected and it is why I decided with the club and the medical department to have this surgery - because I knew the boys would do it without me."
Chelsea will now also have to fend withtout Drogba’s Ivorian team-mate Salomon Kalou will join him, as well as John Obi Mikel (Nigeria) and Michael Essien (Ghana).
-
Thats good news man, I was concerned he might miss the competition.
-
Wow, Chelsea's losing a lot of players..
-
I don't think so.

cheers and damn
-
I always wonder how Chelsea players get back from injuries so fast. They must have some of the best physios around. I heard they inject their players with new blood to help the injuries heal faster.
-
would be tragically funny if they injected the wrong blood type  :'(
-
this african cup of nations will be amazing. most teams have a full squad. cant wait. predictions?
-

That sounds sick

-
its either that or a super magic spray...i wonder why the US doenst have a magic spray
-
i wish i had a magic spray at home
-
we all wish we had a magic spary tito
-
I'm beginnings to suspect they are pumping Drogba full of steroids like they did with R9 at PSV, those Russian medical team Abromavich has bought in look shifty. If you see Drogba overweight and injury prone in the next couple of years remember what I said.
-
The drug testing is much more strict than the testing done here in the US for baseball. Keep that in mind as well. I doubt the players will take the risk unless they are legally being allowed to take the substance.
-

you dont know the lenghths people go to hide their drug use. there was this cyclist who injected someone elses urine in his bladder so when his urine was tested they were testing someone else. cool huh
-
Thats disgusting another mans urine in your bladder? seems kind of gay too.
-
Well, it could possibly be a woman's. That's probably why many others just get caught instead.

-

Haha nice, you're lucky. No good fuckin bars around here.. even if I was old enough, there's nowhere to go.
-
one day you'll be old enough
but even then the age limit will be raised lol
-
Yeah like how they raised the age limit of driving to 18 now.
Piss off.

-
a close encounter between Ghana and Guinea finishs 2-1 to Ghana thanks to a 89 min goal by Muntari :rockit:
-
it was a nice shot by muntari. i think ghana should of have done better
-
maybe we are over rating Ghana you under estimating Guineas powers
-
Tonight is the real games Cameroon v Egypt also Nigeria v Ivory Coast. Egypt hasn't lost to Cameroon in their last 5 games. According to reports Cameroon have the most fans at the competition even more than Ghana. Nigeria v Ivory Coast should be a classic the last time they met 2 years ago Ivory Coast knocked Nigeria out of the competition on penalties.

Namibia 1 - 5 Morocco

What happened in the Cameroon vs Egypt game. How was the Nigeria game by the way. Big game that was I assume.

What happened in the Cameroon vs Egypt game. How was the Nigeria game by the way. Big game that was I assume.
That game is on tonight sorry it was a mistake when I said yesterday night. I might go see it with my Egyptian friend. Both Ivory Coast and Nigeria had big chances Tiawo hit the post for Nigeria from a free kick and Martins was denied by the keeper one on one. Drogba struck a nice free kick but was matched by Enyeama. It took a brilliant piece of skill from Kalou to separate them. Great game.
Morroco pretty much ran away with their game and Benin where unlucky to concede a penalty.
-
Ivory coast beat rivals nigeria 1-0. it was a solo goal by chelsea man soloman kalo
-
egypt won easily. cameroon just didnt do anything. didnt even have chances to score a goal.
-
Egypt beat Cameroon 4-2, two goals each for Zidan and Eto'o. Is Egypt about to cruise to another title? I hope not but beating Cameroon like this must give them a big confidence boost, seeing as most critics where saying Egypt's streak against Cameroon was coming to an end.
-
There are so many awesome goals already. Interesting

Ivory Coast 4 - 1 Benin
Nigeria 0 - 0 Mali
Guinea 3 - 2 Morocco
Ghana 1 - 0 Namibia
Tunisia 2 - 2 Senegal
South Africa 1 - 1 Angola
-
Nigeria is unlikely to go through Mali has to loose and Nigeria must beat Benin to have any chance. Ivory Coast and Ghana are through to the quarter finals. The goals in this competition have been amazing I can't seem to find any highlights on the net tho.
-
there have been alot of great goal in this competition i'd rather have a season long Nations cup in league form then watch ever game of the Premier League
-
Damn Nigeria. What's wrong with their team. Don't they have some of the best talent in Africa?
-
Indeed they do they display one of the best records in the under 17 and 20 champion ships. But their is too much drama with the coaching and player selections allot of politics are involved as usual .
-
Senegal 1 - 3 Angola
Tunsia 3 - 1 South Africa
-
alot of upsets in the compotition so far. very exciting
-
Ghana Win Group A, Guinea Second
Goals from Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari saw Ghana past Morocco, while not even a 1-1 draw with Namibia could prevent Guinea from joining the hosts in the quarter-finals
-
I watched the game last night, Morocco didn't even show up. :nopity:
-
Nigeria make it though the group by beat Benin 2 - 0 thanks to goals from Mikel and fellow EPl star Yakubu
but was made possible due to Ivory Coasts 3 - 0 win over Mali
-
How is Manucho doing? I think he plays for Ghana..
-
i think he plays for Angola
-
Yeah, it's Angola, .. I heard he scored.. full name is Manucho Goncalves.
-
he scored one goal in fist game and two in the second
-
My final prediction between Ghana and Nigeria is rather unlikely. Ivory Coast is just too strong and Nigeria is not proving to be that good despite their advancement out of the group stages. We'll see I guess...
-
next round game so far.
Ivory Coast v Guinea
Ghana v Nigeria
-
Ghana vs nigeria is deadly. i think ghana will pull through since they have a strong home presence
-
I love Essiens goal celebration I seen footage of him doing it in a practice session what a joker. Ghana v Nigeria is one of the oldest West African rivalries and Nigeria was on quiet a streak until that Friendly last year. Ghana are too strong I would have loved to see Mali instead of Nigeria seeing as the power in Africa is shifting to CIV, Ghana, Angola and Mali instead of the usual suspects.
-
Your right new African powers have emerge.
Team like Ivory Coast can go far in south africa 2010.
-
Watching Ghana v Nigeria;
I don't see how Mersah got a red for that. :saywhat:
-
Ghana 2 - 1 Nigeria
-
I knew it Ghana are too strong for Nigeria these days.
-
ghana are with a good chance to win it.
-
Ivory Coast buried Guinea 5-0 poor lads.
-
These games are so interesting, they're really rough.
I love how the game transitions so fast too.. like one team is on offence, and then quickly on defence.. it's pretty exciting and the fans are great.
-
I'm on a frenzy today haven't slept in 24 hours went and watched the Angola v Egypt game which finished 2-1 to Egypt. Angola played so well I'm very disappointed that Egypt won it on a bullshit penalty and what seemed to be a hand ball which went in. Angola's goal was a screamer. Angola's Zé Kalanga is very impressive I noticed him in the world cup he seems to be every where on the field its amazing.
Then I watched Cameroon v Tunisia which had to be game of the year Cameroon where 2-0 up early on great long distance free kick by Geremi than the Tunisians struck a free kick of their own than equalized. Cameroon won it on Extra time Tunisia dominated the game certainly deserved to go through.
So in the semis its
CIV v Egypt (rematch last years final)
Ghana v Cameroon
I hope its a CIV v Ghana final.
-
Ghana vs cameroon is interesting match. i hope too. luckly sbs are showing the final after one week.
These games are so interesting, they're really rough.
I love how the game transitions so fast too.. like one team is on offence, and then quickly on defence.. it's pretty exciting and the fans are great.
Thats african football borg. better then the EPL
-
Team of the Tournament
Goalkeeper
Lama (Angola) The Petro Atletico goalkeeper won the Angolan Girabola league with his club last season and Lama evidently packed that form and confidence in with his gloves when the Black Antelopes boarded their plane to Ghana. Could do nothing about Egypt’s two goals in the quarter-finals but by that stage Lama’s agility and organisational skills had already played an eye catching part in Angola’s historic first qualification out of the CAN group stages.
Defenders
Wael Gomaa (Egypt) Now playing in the lucrative but lazy Qatari league, Gomaa has clearly somehow maintained his remarkable fitness, awareness and aggression. Who says North Africans are lightweights? Not with this guy around- a true leader and a great defender. Stood firm against Cameroon and Angola to help the Pharaohs protect precious leads.
Danny Shittu (Nigeria) Another powerful centre-back, Shittu is every bit as hard as he looks. Several blows to the head did little to distract let alone subdue Shittu against Ghana and with eleven warriors like Shittu in the Super Eagles squad Nigeria would never surely never underachieve again. An intelligent defender too, with Yobo alongside Shittu at the back Nigeria only conceded three goals in four potentially high-scoring games.
Hans Sarpei (Ghana) Understated and thus underrated, FC Saturn’s Sarpei is two footed and can (and does) play anywhere across the back four for Ghana. His fellow defenders Mensah, Addo and particularly Pantsil have all had their lapses in this tournament but the unfussy Sarpei has invariably been on hand to clear up the danger.
Midfielders
Michael Essien (Ghana) Started slowly with a low-key opening performance against Guinea but thereafter reverted to his energetic, omnipresent self. Scored fine and decisive goals against first Morocco and then Nigeria and then helped the Black Stars out in defence following Mensah’s quarter-final sending off. So powerful,so much energy.
Sulley Muntari (Ghana) Muntari has really matured. Now channelling his energy for the good of the team rather than in seeking retribution against opposition players, the Portsmouth star now wants to lead the charge in every game. Muntari is dominating midfields, winning 50-50s, scoring goals and making chances for others.
Yaya Toure (Cote d’Ivoire) Another player improving his decision making with every game and taking more personal responsibility all the time, Yaya is no longer the sitting player in the Ivorian midfield. Dider Zakora is now the pivot bringing the ball out of defence and giving the ball to Yaya to break and create. Yaya has been integral to the Elephants’ expansive game and been involved in many of their goals.
Stephane Mbia (Cameroon) Rigobert Song has tipped the Rennes midfielder to reach the very top and Mbia has already overshadowed Song’s nephew- the also impressive Alex Bilong- in this tournament. The pair have dovetailed excellently since Song’s belated half-time introduction against Egypt in The Indomitable Lions opening fixture and Mbia’s efforts were rewarded with his brace of goals in the exciting quarter final victory over Tunisia.
Forwards
Manucho (Angola) The tournament’s top scorer with four goals at the time of writing, Manucho’s class belied the statistic of just two international strikes and ten caps prior to Angola’s Ghana ’08 campaign. A good job Manchester United snapped him up before the tournament started otherwise his market value would surely have jumped ten fold by now. Strong in the air and on the ground and lethal from close range and thirty yards out, we have learned a lot about Manucho, and all of it good
Salomon Kalou (Cote d’Ivoire) It now seems a long time since Ivorian prodigy Kalou was lobbying politicians in Holland to secure Dutch citizenship in time for the Germany 2006 World Cup. His older brother Bonaventure was only popular with the boo boys in his international playing days but Salomon became a national hero with his dizzying individual winning goal against Nigeria and has not stopped scoring since. An old-fashioned “classic” African forward intent on dribbling at every opportunity, Kalou is both a breath of fresh air and a blast from the past.
Didier Drogba (Cote d’Ivoire) Rapidly becoming “the great” Didier Drogba, the Chelsea forward’s on-the-pitch influence has risen with the tournament as his knee injury has gradually recovered. Still not at 100% but the captain’s aura alone is such a catalyst for the team and their supporters. The focal point of the most formidable attack in Africa, when Drogba says he only failed to retain his CAF player of the year title because he was unable to attend the ceremony you can only believe him.
Lama (Ang)
Shittu (Nig) Gomaa (Egy) Sarpei (Gha)
Mbia (Cam) Essien (Gha) Y. Toure (IC) Muntari (Gha)
Kalou (IC)
Drogba (IC) Manucho (IC)
Subs: Kameni (Cameroon), Yobo (Nigeria) Fahti (Egypt) Feindoundo (Guinea), Eto’o (Cameroon), Keita (Cote d’Ivoire) Agogo (Ghana)
-
i have to agree with that team
-
Congrats to Manucho!
-
Eto'o, Eto'o!
-
Ghana will run a train on Cameroon. :pimp:
-
i would have to agree.they got lucky in the tunisia
-
The Tunisians out played them.
-
i cant believe what I'm seeing.
Ghana are out of the African nations.Cameroon into the final.Cameroon win the game 1-0
ivory coast out of the final.egypt-ivory coast 4-1
ivory coast have a big problem with the goal keeping.
Egypt's goal keeper man of the match he save everything drogba gave him.
its a bit unfair that it ended 4-1 because both teams played well.its just that ivory coast is so weak in goalkeeping its not funny.
ivory coast had there 2nd goal keep sub into the match.ivory first goalkeep was shit, just imagine there reserve goalkeeper.thats why it ended 4-1.ivory coast need a world class goal keeper fast because at the 2010 world cup it could be worse.
-
Ghana will run a train on Cameroon. :pimp:
It didn't happen.
-
Two great finals... but I didn't expect them to go that way. I would have liked the losing teams to win. Oh well... hope Cameroon wins it now!
-
Eto'o to score 2 in the final
-
Damn it I'm so upset right now. The 2 teams who have been going through every round because luck was on there side are in the final. I don't give a shit who wins now.
-
Fuck that, a 4-1 murduring of the Ivory Coast wasn't luck. Well, maybe they were lucky Drogba blew nuts in the final :dontknow:
-
Eygpt v Cameroon not my favorite teams but its worth a watch
-
i totally refuse to watch the african final. how on earth can ivory coast lose like that. those disgusting bitches. fuck them. and what the hell was ghana on. at least ghana have some dignaty. stupid ivory coast ruined my perfect day
-
Kolo Toure was being played like a prostitute. :nopity: I hope Cameroon can win it than it would be Cameroon and Egypt both on 5 ANC titles.
-
that guy gets raped so many times rememver the vagner love incident
-
that was Gallas
-
Kolo is a rock. Everyone gets dicked from time to time.
NR=1
jajja
-
Egypt just beat Cameroon 1-0.. Cameroon runners up and Ghana wins Thirds.
I can't believe I stayed up all this time and made the journey to watch the final only to sit next to all those greasy Egypt fan boys and watch Cameroon loose this is bullshit. The goal was pretty suspect. Poor refereeing really, I would have been less cut had he given a penalty against Cameroon Song and Zidan where wrestling in the box before Zidan laid the ball to his team mate also that Egypt hand ball on the edge of the box a few minutes later was not given the referring has been poor in this competition.
-
When will real African win the African cup of nations
-
Hahahahha exactly its not like its the Arab cup of Nations. :pimp:
-
Zidan is a good player, yet nobody knows about him because he plays in the Bundesliga. The common fan nowadays appears to be clueless unless the player plays in England. Kinda sad really...
-
i wanted Cameroon to win song was not the best but he was to blame. as the Cameroonians said in his defense mistakes happen to everyone. unfortunately for rigobert it cost Cameroon the ACN final
-
yes Buck are you gonna watch the final tomorrow
-
