Pinning this one too.
Barcelona v Chelsea
First Leg: 28/04 - Camp Nou
Second Leg: 06/05 - Stamford Bridge
-
Messi to break cashley's ankle , 2-1 in spain and 1-1 in london, 3-2 agg.
-
i honestly don't think barca have a chance.
and i'd like to advice them, don't score before chelsea or u will definitely loose
-
It may sounds strange. But I've always loved conceeding an early goal.. Chelsea is always more possative after conceeding an early one.
-

yeah that's what i mean, and other teams don't understand this and they score early goals and they make chelsea more stronger
-

You can't be serious.
Barca stands a great chance against any team in the world.
And when Barca scores early goals they keep on scoring. They play better once they get an early lead, so even if Chelsea steps it up it shouldn't make much of a difference

Jesus i thought u were kidding
Ill mark ur words and I wont be surprised if Chelsea gets their asses handed to him?
Please, tell me, ASIDE FROM DROGBA, who can do anything Chelsea offensively? Not only that but Chelsea is a super shaky team defensively in the past couple of weeks
-
Please, tell me, ASIDE FROM DROGBA, who can do anything Chelsea offensively?
nicolas anelka leads the league in scoring (along w/ronaldo). frank lampard is like top ten while top five in assists
not that i agree with him. in fact, i'm just kind of getting it in before he was able to respond w/it
-
anelka is the top scorer in epl
frank lampard, anyone who doubts his ability is an a****le
malouda,he is in his best form since his arrival at the bridge
essien,in great form since his return from injury
ballack, lil sloppy but is very good in passing
quaresma,he is a very good player.we'll see what he can do if he plays a lil games before the big one
ivanovic,very strong at set pieces
john terry, comes forward in deadly situations and most of the times scores
alex,he's monster look at his strike against liverpool
a.cole and bosingwa, both push down the wings put in great crosses.a.cole sometimes likes to go all the way to the 18 yard box sometimes
-

as impressive as that might be (not that impressive), have you even seen Barca's lineup? Hell, even a full team of Barca's subs could give Chelsea a game...
just look at how much better barca's midfield is, and a midfield is a team's engine
Lampard can't play soccer if he's not with british people. he'd get taken apart by spanish style one-touch game. Chelsea plays shoddy football at times, and they won't get away with it against barca, especially not at campe nou
-
frank lampard, well he played a spanish team just last week
oh, and that's going to be a war in midfield. i wouldn't rush to write chelsea's midfield off

lets see what you say about this
-
Barca to win
-
Barca to win
keep dreaming
-
pfff... chelsea is impressive
but not as impressive as barca
the thing about barca is that they do the most unexpected passes
it's like wtf, why are they lobbing the ball to messi, next thing you know he controls it, makes the defenders dance, and then.... :nopity:
look.
messi, henry, eto'o = unstoppable attack :rockit:
xavi = better than lampard
iniesta = don't notice him too much in the mid-field. that's because he's always ready to spring forward and score. he's like another eto'o
dani alves + abidal/sylvinho (or whoever they use) = better than a. cole and bosingwa
puyol = more aggressive than terry, brings the ball forward
and then there are the substitutes in case the full squad gets tired. and the substitutes are still extreme
long/story short
barca will win by 2 goal margin I think :pimp:
-
this brings back memories
-
and then there are the substitutes in case the full squad gets tired. and the substitutes are still extreme
every big-team has depth. it goes hand in hand w/having shitloads of money
as a sidenote: since it hasn't been brought up, how do you all think barcelona is going to fair w/the physicality of chelsea?
-
this brings back memories
remember that other time when ronaldinho went through 3 men, pushed over Terry, then scored?
@pb: When Barca has the ball, they won't get muscled off of it, they're too quick to give it off. When they don't have it, they'll lose out on some balls in the air, but the pure tackling of their defenders should take away the problems caused by, say, iniesta being a lazy fuck and not hustling back on defence
-
When Barca has the ball, they won't get muscled off of it, they're too quick to give it off.
not so sure, especially in the final third when space is at a premium. that is not to say, however, that barcelona won't have 2000% of the possession
but the pure tackling of their defenders should take away
well of course, they're good players. chelsea won't run through them, but i think chelsea's strength is going to give them problems here, just as barcelona's passing will ask some questions of chelsea
-
Chelsea's key to victory is using strength and to really grind out the game. As Mourinho said, " They put the bus in front of the goal"
Barca's key to success is play their game and dictate the tempo. No team can do it better and no team is more proficient with the ball
-
if anyone is favoring Chelsea, they must have problems...
not to say that Chelsea doesn't have a chance at winning; they actually have a legit shot. but the favorites, obviously, are Barca.
Leo Messi is at some 35 goals on the season :saywhat: His form is absolutely amazing, and you know it's true when the Chelsea players straight up say that he is going to give them problems. Ashley Cole or not, Chelsea will have a tough time holding Messi. And after Messi, they've got Eto'o, Henry, etc. The reality is that the attacking force that Barcelona has is unbelievable.
Chelsea has Drogba and Anelka, who have been on and off all season (Drogba just finding form, and Anelka seems to be losing it).
Both teams, however, can be faulty in the back at times. Petr Cech has been off, and Valdez..is Valdez.
-

hahah lol
and rememer when messi and some chelsea player like collide near the corner flag and messi starts rolling round like he's hurt and the other guy get the red card,
i cant find the vid
-
i just came to a conclusion about the fixture
i can explain it in one word
Cech.
-
I'll wait till after the game to speak.
-
i just came to a conclusion about the fixture
i can explain it in one word
Cech.
i'll translate for sule:
if cech has a good game chelsea will win
if he has a bad game chelsea will lose
-
and all depends on the game today.if cech gets a clean sheet today his confidence will be high going into the barca game
-
Barca to win first leg, Chelsea to win second.
Overall 3-2 Barca?
-
Barca to win first leg, Chelsea to win second.
Overall 3-2 Barca?
i agree with this agg. score
-
if we go with what sule said, then its chelsea who will win, because cech's confidence would be very high after stopping that penalty against westham united
-
......................huh
if the aggregate score is 3-2 for BARCELONA then they will win
also ur depending on how Cech feels during the game. What if someone called him a retard before the game, that would obviously drop his confidence and he'll let in 5 goals right? (sarcasm)
-
today is the day..........
i am predicting 3-1 for Barcelona: Eto'o (2), Messi; Lampard
-
all to play for at stamford bridge
-
fack
so many chances, all missed
ehh... barca will lose at stamford bridge
-
shit shit shit match.... dani alves was a diving asshole (i support barca btw)
also Drogba was doing the usual retarded dives too...
bojan needs heading practise, and as a whole Barca are trying to walk it into the net.. just shoot ffs
-
how the fuck did bojan miss that header?
But anyways, Alex is officially a big douchebag
and henry was hauled down in the box; should've been a penalty
-
So many chances, but no goals,
Pretty good game, too many bad tackles,
I think that Barca will lose in England, but I hope that they go to the final
-

You just contradicted yourself in the same sentence. Ur thinking one thing and hoping for another. Not to be an asshole but usually those go hand in hand
From what i read (articles and such) the game was a defensive display on how to stop Barcelona.
-

not at all. actually, it's a very reasonable thing to do.
From what i read (articles and such) the game was a defensive display on how to stop Barcelona.
it sounded exactly like manchester united - barcelona at the camp nou last year
-
fuck i'm disappointed, now i have a wait 2 weeks for the next match

Hehe I know what you mean, but is it wrong that I say: I think that Barca will lose, but I hope that they go to the final
When they lose, they don't go to the final,
Hope that you know what I am talking about
What you read is right (the game was a defensive display on how to stop Barcelona).

Drogba took a nice beating today. You can tell from the line up that Hiddink sacrificed some attacking players to make sure that makeshift defenceive unit stays organized. Second leg Chelsea will play far more attacking football. The only fear I have is a scoring draw. Bossingwa did pretty well to contain Messi. People didn't realize that it would be inexperienced Guardiola v Hiddink an experienced mastermind.

and yet inexperienced guardiola's team played beautiful football
And nobody did a good job covering messi. All they could do was foul him. Hiddink did coach smart, though, because the only way any epl team can stop barca is by playing shitty football.

Couldnt agree more
EPL can boast that they have the strongest league and most skilled players but they never beat Spanish/german/italian/etc teams by playing the same football.
British tactics consist of alot of stamina and pressuring and nothing else. Not only that but look at the stamina involved in the EPL, arguably the highest tempo of football played in Europe, BUT, when Hiddink came to Chelsea he simply said that they "weren't fit" so you can imagine just so physically fit the Chelsea squad is to hold, and contain some of the best attacking players in the world and arguably the best attacking force in the world atm
-
and yet inexperienced guardiola's team played beautiful football
unfortunately, they couldn't win the soccer game. you can look great while you're playing, but if you can't find your composure in the final third, you don't deserve to win the game
And nobody did a good job covering messi. All they could do was foul him
that's generally what you do to arguably the best player in the world
Hiddink did coach smart, though, because the only way any epl team can stop barca is by playing shitty football
so, what?
Spanish/german/italian/etc teams by playing the same football
the spanish, the germans, and the italians do not play the same style of soccer. so, why would you expect the english to adapt to their styles of play?
-
Messi v Bosingwa > Bossingwa is a right back who hasn't been playing regularly. He was still successful in shutting Messi down.
Remember when Khalid Boulhruz shut down Ronaldinho in the previous fixture.
Chelsea is organized. Barcelona didn't play beautiful football against Chelsea. Chelsea forced Barcelona to play at a tempo that Chelsea are comfortable with through out the whole game.
Hiddink didn't go to Barcelona to win the game or score goals. It wss pretty obvious with Ballack, Esseien, Mikel midfiel + Lampard and Malouda... No Kalou the right wing. This was done to compensate for having a second choice center back with a third choice RB and a RB playing LB.
Barcelona was unable to connect passes and play that high tempo football that makes them arguably the greatest strike force in European Club football right now. Because they played against a team that knows how to control games in all situations.
-
lets see what we have here, the best striking force of europe, who hadn't a single match at when they didnt score at home, with the best midfield player of the world combined with the best strikers, could not score a goal.Thats the final result, believe it or not.Barcelona couldn't score at home against chelsea who have conceded three goals even at home, against a side like bolton.
what do you say now?
it was very clear what hiddink was thinking of,he wanted a draw and he got it and now you'll see how barca get themselves fucked up at ST when chelsea will come with a lot more attacking approach.
the dream of winning the champions leagye for barca is over
-
unless chelsea plays an all defensive game again, they are going to be very vulnerable and they are going to have a lot of trouble coping with barcelona's attack.
i think it's going to be a very open game, and chelsea have just as much an opportunity to win as barcelona.
-

i doubt that chelsea opens up all that much. it wouldn't make any sense to get into a track meet w/barcelona. i have a feeling that they'll grind something out

Barca played the way they always play. Look at the possession stats and tell me they didn't connect passes. They had lots of wasted opportunities and Chelsea's defense played a very good game, I'll admit. Barca doesn't shoot enough, though. If they'd shot more, it would have been 2-0.
-
Chelsea are gonna lose at home, at least from that match that was what i gathered, because they simply cannot play 2 legs sitting 9 mean on the edge of the box or if they do it will be extremley disappointing, towards the end of the game when Chelsea actually started to play upfield a bit their defense was getting nicely outplayed by Barca's attackers because their defenders simply are not good enough to contain Barca's attack force.
At Stamford Bridge i say 3-1 Barca and anyone who says its impossible to score 3 goals at the bridge i shall just point you to 4-4 with Liverpool.
Also bringing Lampard off was definitely a good sub as he was doing completely fuck all for the period he was on.
-

The only reason they couldnt score was because Hiddink went for the 0-0 or at worst 1-0 loss. He packed the midfield with 5 players to stifle the touch and go football Barca play.
Chelsea wont win at the Bridge because if they open up to attack they know how vulnerable they'll be in the back for barca's counter.
The only way Chelsea get through would be a bullshit call, such as random red card to Barca or random PK awarded for Chelsea
-
Hiddink played the game twice in his head before the actual game took place.
-
Chelsea wont win at the Bridge because if they open up to attack they know how vulnerable they'll be in the back for barca's counter.
why does everyone think that they'll open the throttle completely?
:dontknow:
-
chelsea have basically acknowledged that barcelona is the better team (similar to what arsenal did) because they know they have the ability to get a sloppy goal, for instance something on a set peice or on a mistake from barcelona's defense.
-

Would have? That might have counted for something in the European Would-have League.
This is the Champions league and the game ended 0-0.

exactly
-
This one is too tough to call. It can definitely go either way.
-
essien 1-0
9th minute
incredible goal off of the volley
-
abidal sent off for "denying" a clear goal scoring opportunity. here, denying is used very liberally.
still 1-0 69th minute
it has been an interesting game. barcelona has been completely incapable of breaking chelsea down
-
OMFG!
1-1
Barca to final  :pimp:
Fucking nice! :rockit:
-
Corner for Chelsea.....
-
1 shot on goal. 1 goal
iniesta the savior
-
1 shot on goal. 1 goal
iniesta the savior
hehe indeed,
Game is over: Barca to final
-
hfahahaha fucking chelsea....HAHAHAHAHAHA!
it makes me smile to see terry so dejected! did anyone else notice how much the chelsea players were flopping around the field. wow. and what a terrible ref this was? missed handballs, wrongfully gave out a red card, and was just terrible...
messi was incredible, great control despite the 4 defenders around him at all times.
again, HAHAHAHAHA.
-
The ref was horrible!
The 1 goal on 1 shot was spectacular, just broke Chelsea's hearts.
As mentioned, this game was crazy in which way the ref's retardedness went, ie. Abidal red card, but then Pique's handball.
-
Crazy game shit ref Barca can't shoot to save their lives 15 shots 1 on target
-

i think alves on malouda should've been a penalty as well, first contact outside of the box or not.
but, it went both ways
-
Dramatic in the very end.
Very low judgments by the referee today.
Even though i support Barca i feel sad that the referee single handed ruined the game.
Two nice goals though, especially from Essien.
That was a goal to remember.
-

Did you even watch the replay at all?
That really deserved a penalty in my opinion. If it was that situation in PES 2009, the result will be a penalty, no more no less, even if the player was diving, and for sure he wasn't.
I have no grudge for Barca, congrats to them for winning the right to play on the final.
I just wanna state that referee was sh!t.
-

there was a lot of contact
-
forget the referee, the match is over
FORZA BARCA!
fack off die hard chelsea fans and all barca/man u haterz! :cursing:
OH YEAH!! MAN U vs BARCA!!! THE MATCH I'VE BEEN DREAMING ABOUT, AND THE MATCH I'VE BEEN PLAYING ON PES 09 ALMOST EVERY TIME!!! :rockit: :rockit: :rockit:
OMG!!!
-
Barca won, and that's the final result => I can't do anything, but the ref sucked big time :bs:, there's no denying it.
The match was over, but this is really bothering me to see how the ref's inability to observe can harm and benefit teams.
If this is the way people do in any match, I think I'm gonna getaway from football. :nopity:
-

the contact outside of the box, sure. what happened when he made his move and cut back? aw, he falls to his knees because the defense is in his way.
-
aw, he falls to his knees because the defense is in his way.
alves held him when he cut back. it's not like he ran into his chest. even if he didn't, it was obstruction anyway. this isn't basketball.
-
if you fall that easily you shouldn't get a call. i hate when players are getting fouled and they throw thier hands up and stop. shit is annoying. same thing here, he knew it would have been obstruction so he just throws himself down.
-

reminds me of a certin player
-
it was a penalty regardless of malouda's reaction to the foul
reminds me of a certin player Roll Eyes
who genuinely has a gripe 75% of the time
the whole diving thing is overdone, anyway. most of the time it's players running at full fucking throttle. it doesn't take that much to bring down a player running at full speed
-
it was a penalty regardless of malouda's reaction to the foul
there was no foul because malouda reacted before the obstrucion actually happened!
-
either way the handball in the last few seconds should have been a penelty
i mean it was right infront of the ref
-
Visça el barçaaaaaaaa, go to rome !!!! iniesta is god.......
-
there was no foul because malouda reacted before the obstrucion actually happened!
no he didn't
either way the handball in the last few seconds should have been a penelty
he'd probably tell you ball to hand. apparently, you can make yourself eight feet fucking tall in the box
-
so what is it that makes him fall? watch malouda. just watch him in the full speed clip. watch his feet, especially. they didn't get hit by anything. and the idea of obstruction is that you are attempting to get the ball but you are being obstructed. question: did malouda even attempt to get the ball after the cutback? NO! he immediately falls to the ground, with no pressing contact between him and alvez. he made NO attempt to retreive the ball after his cutback. how is that a foul then?
watch it full speed over and over again; there is no way that was a penalty, sorry.
-
happy barca won, being a portsmouth fan i dont usually like a team in the cl  arsenal or barca weere my preffered.
Just annoying that barca have a centre back problem atm :( dont think the final will be the ultimate match.
-
watch his feet, especially. they didn't get hit by anything.
they don't have to. he was off-balanced to begin with. they were tied up awkwardly. dani alves obviously found enough there to fall back.
also, watch dani alves. he looks towards the referee before both of them even hit the ground. i would imagine he looked towards the referee as soon as he made contact.
and the idea of obstruction is that you are attempting to get the ball but you are being obstructed.
yes, and he cut back and made a movement toward the ball. dani alves impeded his progress and had his arms wrapped around him.
he made NO attempt to retreive the ball after his cutback. how is that a foul then?
what the hell do you want him to do? bowl dani alves over?
watch it full speed over and over again; there is no way that was a penalty, sorry.
it was a free kick. the discretion was inside of the box. it was a penalty
-
don't be silly, alvez falls because malouda lands on his foot.
arms wrapped around? his right arm is in the air the whole time
a cutback is not a movement towards the ball; it's a change in direction of the ball, one that you have to follow; thus, the movement. all malouda did was fall down immediately: no movement. he basically sees alvez in the way and then falls. remember, alvez is all of 90 pounds, did he really just make malouda fall like that?
the freekick was given because of the contact outside of the box, which was minimal anyway. the ref wasn't buying that dive.

he doesn't land on his foot, and he doesn't look like he traps his foot
arms wrapped around?
he is hugging him with his left arm
movement towards the ball
yes, he cut back, made a movement towards the ball, and ran into dani alves
did he really just make malouda fall like that?
it was awkward. could it have made him fall? maybe. does it matter if it made him fall? no. there was undeniable contact, and dani alves was in no position to play the ball.

judging from the rest of the game, i doubt it

he is hugging him with his left arm
are you are referring to the half a second that his left arm is on malouda's torso? this isn't basketball.
yes, he cut back, made a movement towards the ball, and ran into dani alves
he RAN into dani alves? haha. you might want to take that back. malouda --> cutback ---> 0 steps toward the ball. i can't remember the last time i RAN into someone without actually running or even walking. in fact, next time i have to run, i'll just fall to my knees and call it running.
there was undeniable contact
there's always contact in any play. malouda made the most of an arm on his stomach, and fell directly to his knees when he felt it.

don't be stupid, you know what i'm trying to get at. dani alves was ALL over him. you can't do that, and you shouldn't (as a defender) do that in the box.

dude, it was obstruction. you're just angry that he made the most of it
-
he dove
if he wanted the foul, all he had to do was run towards the ball. then alvez would have really pushed him down. but, instead, he dove.
-
he dove
no he didn't. he milked it, but that isn't a dive a la didier drogba
-
but you can't milk penalties
-
but you can't milk penalties
yes you can. it was still a foul. he just did the right thing and went down.
i remember when a certain someone should have gone down...
;)

that's not right, it's just the easy way out.
i don't take the easy way out. you know that

essien 1-0
9th minute
incredible goal off of the volley
Lol
Forget this off/off of debate, I've never heard anyone say that.
It's on the volley...
Re Malouda penalty debate, I've seen them given.
Apparently if you enter 'Chelsea' into a SatNav. The response is "2 minutes from Rome"

so what is it that makes him fall? watch malouda. just watch him in the full speed clip. watch his feet, especially. they didn't get hit by anything. and the idea of obstruction is that you are attempting to get the ball but you are being obstructed. question: did malouda even attempt to get the ball after the cutback? NO! he immediately falls to the ground, with no pressing contact between him and alvez. he made NO attempt to retreive the ball after his cutback. how is that a foul then?
watch it full speed over and over again; there is no way that was a penalty, sorry.
your right about the leg thing
but dani alves did have his arms around malouda,
even if malouda tried he would have been able to run because dani alves was holding him

But if malouda tried and it was visible to the world to see then logically the ref wouldve given a penalty. BUT malouda didnt go for the ball after his cutback, expecting the ref's pity
-
either way dani alves had his whole body wraped around malouda
-
sorry guys i was wrong.
it was a heartbreak for me :pimp:
