Two big games last night:

- Mavericks beat the Suns.
- Pistons beat the 20-2 Celtics.

I hate the Suns... come on Mavs! Won 6 out of last 7 now. :santa:

The Rockets really are struggling. Every year they seem to have a great team on paper but that's about it. Even if they get to the playoffs, which they better do, they will most likely find a way to lose in the first round with TMAC.

The Detroit Pistons extended their winning streak thanks to an energetic performance by their bench players.

Then they went home to prepare for another showdown with Boston.

Richard Hamilton scored 22 points, Rasheed Wallace added 20 and the Pistons won their 11th straight game with a 101-85 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.

Title: Re: NBA
Post by: Adi on Jan 05, 2008, 03:01: PM
Nice win by the Celtics.

You say Boston and Detroit are the two best teams... maybe record wise but I would still pick the Spurs over them in the Playoffs. The East is starting to pick up though and that's good. The final should be good again.
Title: Re: NBA
Post by: lilmaniac on Jan 05, 2008, 03:13: PM
the spurs are good, although i think what i like about the celtics is that they have the big three: kg, paul pierce and ray allen, but they also have depth on the bench that can support them...thats the same with the pistons and is in large part why they had an 11 game win streak, i think the spurs/pistons or celtics game would be insane with all the great players...one thing that sets the spurs aside from other teams is they have a determination to win at all costs and they know how to do it, its an experienced team and thats how i think they have an edge of the celtics
Title: Re: NBA
Post by: lilmaniac on Jan 10, 2008, 01:07: PM
a supposely good game yesterday turned quite ugly as mavs smokes pistons, also celtics got their 4th loss of the season as the bobcats outscored them 95-83
Title: Re: NBA
Post by: Adi on Jan 11, 2008, 01:21: PM
The West is so fun to watch this year. So many teams are beating each other up and it's damn close. Funny thing is that Houston and Utah are still outside of the Playoffs. It's going to be interesting to see who ends up making it. Personally, I think Portland and Golden State will fall out with Utah and Houston replacing them.

As long as Golden State is out, I'll be happy. Less risk for the fans. I feel comfortable against anyone else, although the Celtics scare me for the Final. If we can lose to Miami, I think we can do the same against the Celtics. I guess we'll have a better idea once Boston comes to play Dallas, San Antonio and Phoenix.

I do hope that Portland continues their great play. Seeing such a young team doing so well, even without Oden, is very good for the league.

Title: Re: NBA
Post by: Adi on Feb 01, 2008, 09:53: AM
Pretty pissed about it but nowhere near as pissed as I am about the trade between LA and Memphis. How the fuck can you trade Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown and a few other scrubs?

LA is now a title contender. FUCK! Why not make the West any harder?

Fisher - Kobe - Odom - Gasol - Bynum

Yeah, that's damn good. :bs:
Title: Re: NBA
Post by: lilmaniac on Feb 01, 2008, 10:25: AM
yea im glad the celtics dont have too worry as much come playoff time due to being in the "weak" eastern conference, i say right now the lakers are the weakest they will be this year...and i say that very as almost a pun...the lakers are rolling now even with bynum out with the knee injury and when he returns around march as people project this team will be even stronger. im glad to see the lakers winning numerous games, i feel bad with kobe and all his skills to not have a team to back him up like in previous years
Title: Re: NBA
Post by: Adi on Feb 01, 2008, 02:47: PM
Well, he does now with Pau Gasol. Gasol was an all-star two years ago. He's a beast.

Bynum has developed into a really good player as well. He shouldn't be complaining really. He's got Odom, and now Fisher, Bynum and Gasol.

shaq traded to suns
Title: Re: NBA
Post by: Adi on Feb 07, 2008, 09:16: AM
Think it's a good move for the Suns?

I don't think so. Even if Shaq stays healthy, he's too slow for their style of play. The only reason they got Shaq is to compete with the Spurs. They couldn't beat the Spurs in the playoffs to save their lives because of Duncan. Now they think they can. I don't think so though. I think they took a step back. They'll get burned with Shaq taking so long to run up and down the court.

Yeah, he went to the Suns game yesterday and pointed to his finger to the crowd meaning he wants a ring.. haha, cocky bastard.
Title: Re: NBA
Post by: lilmaniac on Feb 07, 2008, 12:03: PM
i think he'll do alright at the suns...his first year at a new team he always does well even with the heat (they won it all during his first season)..the thing that is going to hurt the suns is how injured shaq is. atm he is suffering from a hip injury that has kept him sidelined for a few games dating back to when he was still in miami. the suns will slowly try to work shaq up and i say after a while u might be able to see shaq play 30 minutes at most. i wish the suns didnt get rid of marion, he was a core player and even though he was having career lows this season he is a still a strong player that the suns need to do well in the playoffs
Title: Re: NBA
Post by: lilmaniac on Feb 11, 2008, 11:16: AM
shaq had his first real practice with the suns today...his hip wasnt a problem, he was just winded from the amount of running he did

Mavs are getting Kidd.

We are giving way too much. Harris, Stackhouse, George, Diop, Ager, two first round picks, and money.

I'm OK with giving up Ager and George, but Harris and Diop are huge for us. Hope Kidd can ball!
Title: Re: NBA
Post by: lilmaniac on Feb 13, 2008, 12:37: PM
i was kinda hoping kidd would go to the cavs like lebron james had hoped...oh well. i hear that stackhouse has a good chance of coming back to the mav after 30 days if the nets buy out his contract which would be very good to dallas. i think getting the kidd is vitally important for the mavericks, with this shaq deal they needed to do something to their team and kidd is a player to do so. he has great vision on the court

Warriors just beat the Suns in a good game.

Devin George has a clause in his contract that says he can reject any trade for him. Apparently he doesn't want to go to New Jersey to the whole trade is being halted right now. I wonder what will happen. As a Mavericks fan, I'm OK either way it goes.
