This is the final list of participants:
http://blog.fabernovel.com/komball/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/list-of-participants2.jpg
And my comment for the list:  :potty:
The sad thing is that the same freestylers are called up to these events all the time & that freestylers like Timo, Golomeji?, etc. get left out...
It's sad that it's more important who's ass you lick and who are you friends with than your actual skill...
Best 16 euro freestylers my ass... :bs:

P.S. Just to clear things up, I think most of the freestylers participating deserve the invite, so you don't think I'm saying that no one from this list  deserves to be invited...

Hi all,

been reading your comments, i have had a part in helping to getting a list of possible freestylers for the competition in France 2008, Miran, maybe you are right about "licking ass" maybe you are wrong. Don't hold me on that.

The same freestylers keep popping because they are well known in the freestyler area and it is because most have experience in LP etc so this may be also a factor

I have listed about 2 freestylers per freestyle Country in Europe for this competition to the organiser

Italy, Spain, Ireland, UK, Germany, Holland, France, Czech, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Sweden, Norway, Denmark...even Russia(not sure if it's an EU country though)

I did express that 1 freestyler per country would make a competition more exciting and honourable. But unfortunately it was not the case and there are a lot of factors to take into account when selecting the best to compete in such a big event. Especially when it's a LIVE feed.

one example: if low quality, in-experienced fsers are welcomed to participate and do bad show live, then that would make freestyle sport...maybe like a "crap sport"...but this is for the viewers who have not seen freestyle before....this is only 1 of 100s of example factors when organising such a big event.

The organisation are people who do truly work for the love of freestyle, otherwise, freestyle will not get any bigger.

My part in the listing was truly for the love of the sport, i didn't have to do it, and to make more freestylers from other countries to represent their respective country

I ust wanted to say this, no dis-respect to any posts here,

respect to all fsers...noob, amateur or pro,

Nam the Man

ps - hope this helps

Hi there Nam,

Nice of you to drop by and take part in the discussion.

I am aware of the part you had in the organization of the event, but I didn't mean that you suggested to the organizer "don't invite this guy, invite this guy instead", hope that's clear.

And yes, you are completely right about the experience thing & I agree that especially at big events like these, we need to present freestyle football at it's best!

That's why we need the BEST freestylers! I am not saying to invite complete noobs, just so it seems fair and that it looks like we gave someone a chance. If you are advertising your event by saying you'll bring 16 of Europe's best freestylers, then do so.

I am simply asking why aren't the best invited to these events/competitions? You can't say that freestlyers like Timo, Golomejic, Matte Linder, Filip Meeus, Leiki, etc. are inexperienced and low quality.

To me it's absurd that there were 5! freestylers from France, 4 of them Komball freestylers and that in the end you were the only freestyler in the semi-finals that wasn't from Komball. I'm not saying that they're not good. Sean is one of the best, Andreas & Djiminho are really good, but what happened in Paris, IMO was pushing it too far and obvious advertising.

Just a final response to your statment about making fs look good: Berno & Karim...

I hope that I expressed my opinion well & that there won't be any major misunderstanding.

So, to sum it up. I'm for having the best freestylers at these events, not on the basis of who you know and who you're good with or who's your sponsor, but on actual freestyle football skill. I'm aware that like in all parts of life, there will always be people that have a good "support" to push them further, but as long as it doesn't go ridiculously too far and/or as long as it brings quality with it, I accept it as a part of the game. A necessary evil so to speak...

P.S. Hope no one gets offended by what I just wrote!

i think there are enough freestylers of that level to make another 2 or 3 tournaments like that, but i preferred eurobac though. there i knew almost all the freestylers, here i know only half of them. but its better that nothing and lets just hope that somebody is able to put the show on internet ;)

Congrats to Nam for winning. It was a great show

I agree with the frustrations of some people here. Yet, the fact that tournaments like this one are being organised and broadcasted live on eurosport is a great promotion for freestyle. Now with the Red Bull tournament coming up, I'm sure that other ones will follow (local and international) and eventually all freestylers will have the chance to compete.

Don't forget, freestyle is still in an early stage..

imo the commentator did a good job...he was informed about some freestyle theories. sure, he mixed some things up, but it would be hard not to, when you probably never seen before the "real" freestyle.

a commentator who knows something about freestyle? cool idea...find one.
