He always plays only 20 minutes at the end of the match. Last Saturday he played 70 minutes, because Toni was injured.

Title: Re: Champion's League: Round of 16
Post by: VG on Feb 20, 2009, 09:31: PM
Standard Champions league tactics dictate that Inter should play for a draw at Trafford and then go for the win at San Siro.  A good result for them would either be 0-0 preferably 1-1 so they have the away goal and they wouldn't be too disappointed with 2-1 so the way i see Inter will just come out very defensive and really just look to capitalise on any Man Utd mistakes in midfield/defense and those look scarce in defense given the recent quality of the man utd defense

Mourinho > Manchester United past and present.

Inter held it down for Italy. They where not out played and all they need is a scoring draw to go through.

If Mourinho knocked United out of this competition with Porto and won it; he can do it with a sick squad like Inter.

Kiss Fergies dreams of defending the champions league good bye. That distributional old dog.

Mourinho is undisputed.

Aren't you speaking a little too soon? United were the better team, just face it, the stats prove it. Ronaldo had a brilliant game, and his free-kicks weren't bad either.

United were the team that were thinking "why couldn't we finish", not Inter, simply because United had way more chances, but couldn't capitalize. Cesar was just amazing, and United could have taken the lead after 4 minutes.

United will win this..

English Teams dominate again.

I found these articles quite amusing...

Quote
Inter 0 United 0
Jose Mourinho got one thing right - nothing was decided at the San Siro last night. But on everything else, Alex Ferguson proved him totally wrong. Mourinho said Manchester United had not come to Milan for fun, they would not stand eye-to-eye with his team, that they were more interested in survival than settling the tie once and for all in the famous old stadium. Well, United have never had greater fun in Europe - and entertained so regally - without scoring a goal. And they did not so much take the game to their hosts, especially in the first half, as run them off the pitch. The only thing Ferguson may live to regret was leaving Wayne Rooney on the bench until the 83rd minute. The England striker must have been blinking in disbelief as United let slip one chance after another — with Dimitar Berbatov the main culprit. And for that, United will look back on last night as not so much one of great control, authority and style but as the evening when they let Inter off the hook.
Steven Howard, The Sun

Jose Mourinho explained why he neglected to shake hands with Sir Alex after the match, saying: "My dugout is special. I have a door that lets me leave immediately. Yesterday I left Sir Alex a £300 bottle of wine at his hotel with a card saying I would see him after the game. There's no problem."

The Daily Mirror's Oliver Holt is confident United will finish the job at Old Trafford. "If Inter conjure a victory out of this tie after the way they were picked apart last night, it will feel like if not the death of football, then at least a heavy blow to its solar plexus," he writes.

Addressing the sub-plot of Cristiano Ronaldo against Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the San Siro, The Daily Mail's Martin Samuel says: "Ibrahimovic postured like a great player, Ronaldo played like one."

If Ronaldo was amazing then he would have scored.

Julio Cesar and Santon were amazing, Sulley Muntari and Nelson Rivas were defintly Inters worst players of the match and Ibrahimovic couldnt keep possesion looked kinda nervous.

United could have got the win but were wasteful.

i agree with Chunk

santon for a 17 yr old kid looks, seems and plays like hes been doing this job forever
and if it wasnt for Cesar couldve been 8-0

English Teams > Italian Teams

First of b AC Milan and Juventus have always been the major players in the Champions league for Italy. Ac is in a bit of a crisis all their players have aged and they seem to be going through a bit of a transition period.

As for Juventus they are rebuilding its not east loosing all the players they lost and coming back up from the second division so both teams are excused.

Inter where never really big in the Champions league so I don't see why people act surprised same with Roma.

Now if you want to talk about Seria A vs EPL than the whole of the Seria A is much better than the whole of EPL. Besides the big four teams in EPL the Seria A is overall a much better league. Manchester United and Chelsea rarely loose or draw a game with the other teams besides the big four.

Normal mid-table and bottom Seria A teams win games against the big four in Italy. Also look at the Uefa cup English teams never go far. Remember Middlesbrough made the final and got raped by Sevilla. Besides that NOTHING.

Overall La Leiga >> Seria A >> EPL.

Remember Geona, Fieorentina, Lazio, Atlanta, Napoli, Cagliari, Palermo, Udinese, Catania and Sampdoria are better than the other EPL teams besides the big 4.

As for Italys top four I explained above what they are going through.

RealMadrid have been fucked up for some years now, Valencia fell off same with Depor. When all them teams come back you won't be seeing many English teams in the Quarters of the CL.

Don't get too excited Barcelona are still in it same with Bayern, Villareal and Athletico. Watch the English teams get faded.

cigar id like to happen what you said in the champs league with other teams fading off, but English owners are buisnessmen, and they arent rich for nothing.
If English owners keep on going in their current direction, then i have a feeling that the whole footballing world will collapse and/or lose some of its credibility

All i can say is IF SEPP BLATTER'S 6+5 RULE IS INTRODUCED THEN ITALY, SPAIN, AND GERMANY WILL RULE ONCE MORE.
The dutch as well possibly
the funny part is, spain, with their predominantly homegrown clubs (look at barca, valencia, villareal), is still contending with epl teams and coming off about even

no spanish club actually would have fit under the 6+5 rule for the last champions league matchday

they only one who was "damn close" was atletico

these teams aren't "predominantly home grown"

barca has 4-5 players they can start who are spaniards (once puyol returns, that is)

whatever, the 6-5 rule is stupid

there should just be a quota per team of international players

either way most Prem teams (if not all) are screwed sooo badly

but it'll be better for European FOotball as now all the leagues will become much stronger

nah, not really.  there's a lot of serviceable talent in england.  with 5 foreign players, the level of play shouldn't drop too much

how?

you alienate non-eu players (i'm looking at you south america), and even if it didn't, it would only be a reapportionment of wealth.

i meant to say it'll make world football better and instead of people only looking at Italy, England, Spain ,France ,Portugal ,Germany for players and games, Latin America will create much stronger leagues because more or their talented players will stay at home

Adebayor
Goal on the Century

porto have never lost to english opposition at home
speaks for itself me thinks TBH

Adebayor had a beautiful touch and finish but Fanregas's chip ball was out of this world. Between 3 defenders right on Ade's chest

sublime assist produced a sublime goal

i'm sick of hearing Bayern this and Bayern that
you to be quiet honest at the moment they are overrated they had a average route and only thrash Lisbon
beside that what have they done
they are doing shit in the league and ONLY THRASHED LISBON

they have no chance against Barca
Ok..we'll see
