Title: NFL
Post by: TheGodEmperor on Jan 01, 2009, 02:16: PM
Playoffs starting in two days

I am a third generation Dolphins supporter, so obviously they're gonna kick the shit outta the ravens. Carry on the trend after their epic win over the Jets on Sunday.

I could see for hooker's avatar that he supports the raiders

You won't be able to return home after I'm done with you.

But seriously, fucking Patriots aren't in the postseason this year, after being undefeated in the season last year!

blame that on Brady getting injured

the Dolphins had a great year, and they deserved it

Yeah, as soon as I heard Brady got injured I knew things wouldn't be the same, no more "Brady to Moss, TOUCHDOWN!", none of that. Cassel wasn't bad but I just don't like him, he had the most sacks received this season I believe, could be the defence or it could be him not being fast enough, but still.

I'm still impressed with Welker, he's just amazing.

I've always disliked the pats

my teams are the dolphins because half of my family is from Florida and the colts because I was born in Indiana.

The Overtime thing really sucks though. Most of the time, it's whoever wins the coin-toss wins.. that needs to be changed.

Serious question.

Like whenever I come to watch this "sport", the play only seems to last like 20secs at most. It seems like throw, catch/tackle, get up cheer, then like a break lol
Does this always happen, or does it last longer, or do you jus get used to it?

it happens most of the time, because the refs need to make decisions and the coaches need to call plays. Also, if you get tackled hard enough, you get pretty woozy, so you need a few seconds' recovery time. I mean, football is so punishing that they only play 16 games a year (+ playoffs for some) and only one game per week.

Trust me, this sport is amazing, and so hardcore. There are so many things behind all the "20 seconds". So much things to look at, at different angles, and all the correct calls/plays to go for.

you get used to it

if you're interested, you could start with highlights

feature=related

it also helps that almost all of those guys are absolute freaks of nature in a different sort of way.  you won't find too many guys who can work their way through the beep test, but you will find guys that can rep the shit out of 225 pounds (bench press...like 20+ times).  or for example, the sec (university football conference) has two running backs that were close to qualifying for the us olympic team in the 100m dash w/times hovering around 10 seconds (like 10.01/10.02).

it's definitely a personal taste thing, but it's a sport like any other sport.

Yes SPORT, I guess you think its all borin, which sometimes I agree it is, but its still a great game.
And the atmosphere and banter @ some cricket matches is better than, or as good as @ football.
