Hey dudes.
Are you guys playing soccer in a team? If yes, what division? What position do you have? How does your training with the team look like? Tell me everything you know
I am playing in a team in the worst division
-
I play on a college team... West Texas A&M University - NCAA II. I'm playing as a defensive mid although I don't like it. I'm not much of a tackler but they play me there because I can distribute the ball.
-
Centre-mid, sometimes see a lot of wing too. I play for local leagues and stuff.
-
two teams atm, position varies at times so no point in saying it
-
hey Adi, your position is maybe the most important there is.. are you a Zizou or something?hehe
-

you should drop one team so you can have mor time to post here :3some:
its been a very long time since i played for a team, last team i played for one cemaes bay for a few months which i think their senior team is in the cymru alliance 3rd division in wales i think, not sure though and have also played for my local team amlwch a very long time ago both the times i played in defence sometimes defensive mid. traveling to games was awkward so i soon gave it up to play football with my friends and i normally played in goal or defence if we had a pick up game which i cant do these days because my friends are either in university, college or working. hopefully i can get back into football shape next year :teeth:
-
futsal league here in calgary. the league itself is horribly underdeveloped and my team doesn't even hold practices since they're coaches of other indoor teams themselves so they have no time.... but i do play with some good players. not great street players, but they kno the game since they were pros in the lower divisions in england.
-
Hampstead Fc i played for them for about 3 years..then i stopped cause i wanted to practise freestyle :), not only that i moved wayyy away from Hampstead Football club :'(.

Did you stop play soccer totaly, just for freestyle? Or are you just to lazy to find a new team when you moved away from Hampstead? :santa:

Lol Tom, well both of them, mostly cause i moved away :).

I used to play in a team which was the second worst team in whole Skåne which is a a big part of southern Sweden.
That's the reason I quit, + having a retarded coach and really alot more but I'm to lazy naming everything, oh and yeah, being lazy is also a reason why I quit
I'm a lazy guy O0

I played very well in the 5 VS 5 futsal game so the college team invite me. I refused because I can't control the field game. I don't know why. On the field I can't do even a simplest ball stopping. It seems futsal and freestyle are my style. Do you have this kind of feeling?

Yeah. But my problem is that i hate to run without ball, and i hate the hard tackels that make my thin, cute body get broken. buhu. Im a true freestyler O0
-
i used to play 11 aside but now i just play 5 v 5 its alot better
-
Control is a lot of fun~

yea i kno what you mean. lots of times i find that my awareness and tactical sense lets me down in games because i don't have enough experience, even tho i have the individual skills. i still fuckin love 11 asides tho.
-
I told myself after quiting my club last year that im never playing outdoor again but i've decided i'll give it one more crack so im trying out for a teams premier youth team in a few weeks O0

Keep it up, bro.

I play for a u18 team and sometimes with the seniors. 4th division Q_Q
Now we play Futsal on the winter, but I hate the new rules. Five-a-side was much better, more technique involved.

Whats the new rules?
Can't pass back to the goalkeeper after ball has been over midside
5 fouls from one team results in other team getting a penalty shot each time the team which had made 5 fouls makes another foul
smaller goals aswell

futsal is 5v5.

No, Futsal is Futsal and 5-A-Side is 5-A-Side.
The differences are those Oli mentioned. About goalsize (net) I think it hasn't changed though. We have always used those small ass handball goals.
But the biggest difference is the ball types.
Futsal = Heavy balls. They roll slower.
5-A-Side = Lighter balls. They roll fast.
My team always bring our light footballs to matches and we give them to the refree, hoping that he wont notice anything.
The purpose of the new futsal is that it shud be more enjoyable watching, but it is not. Most teams just pass their targetman, he hold the ball with his feet and deliver to another guy.
-
A- division in juniors and prolly play some 2nd division matches on summer aswell plus academy matches.
and Ofc futsal on winter, fukin love it

if you notice i said 5v5 not 5 asides. which i assume means the same thing but if not.... futsal is still 5 on 5.
futsal is a game that's all about developing your touch. ur touch, ur skills, and ur ability to play quickly and think on ur feet. there's constant movement and no time to rest. futsal is the only indoor game officially sanctioned by FIFA.
futsal fuckin owns.

TOP OF THE LEAGUE.

I play left-midfield, occasionally upfront.
On sunday I play for Attenborough colts:
NEAR BOTTOM OF THE LEAGUE
I play upfront, and we're shit because all the players are shit and its 10 in the morning and noone can be bothered, we usually just start fights because we're losing.

Omg, football. Before i discovered freestyle, i played in on of Swedens best and most succesful teams. The team where Henrik Larsson grew up. Högaborg. But when freestyle cam in the picture, i kinda missed alot of practices, and i moved to Eskilsminne, a less successful, but yet not so bad team. And then when i became better at fs, i realized that compared to fs, i sucked donkeyass at football although i wasn't that bad. And now, in this very hour, i am going to Gantofta IF, and i am still thinking if i will sign for them or not, if i will, i might be able to play division 3 football, in maybe 2 years, but then fuck my knee up and never fs again. If not, i might consider a longer fs career which will end with a tragic knee injury. And btw, i played striker. I only scored goals, nothing more ^^
-
^
Yeh, striker and only scoring is the way to go. nothing more :) slackmode strikers ftw. just like me. last season i did all 20 goals inside the penalty box
-
@ PWG & jonte, i love ur humbleness besides that i think both of u sucks at football(Y)

Haha that's exactly like my style ^^ . Well, sometimes i did the freekicks, because i was the only one who was able to make a hard shot from maybe 35 metres ^^ . But yeah, as you said, slackmode strikers ^^ .
Jävligt king när man får all äran för det också ^^

i had a exciting match today: 4-4 !!! We scored the 3-3 10 minutes before time, then 2 min later they scored again and we scored in the very last minute
-
Adi, let's continue with my questionnaire. ;)
So, you do travel.. that's awesome. Do you have track suits and stuff? Do you enter any tournaments? I'm interested because I want to get a scholarship and just wondering if I do get a scholarship I'd have to participate in the school team or else I'd be dropped from the school.. How many time do you practice a week? Do you miss school for games or anything?
-
Borg, we have track suits, jackets, travel gear and all that good stuff. It's from Select, a Danish soccer company that's growing very fast. The only tournament we play in is the NCAA National tournament. Only the best 32 teams in the nation get to play in it. Sometimes there is a Conference tournament, but we didn't have one this season.
There are athletic and academic scholarships. Academic scholarships have nothing to do with soccer. If you get an athletic scholarship, you will keep it as long as you are on the team. At the end of every season, the coaches usually go over the scholarships to decide whether you should keep yours, get it reduced, or maybe get a better scholarship. If you lose your soccer scholarship or quit the team, it does not affect your status with the school. You will still remain at the school as long as your grades are meeting the requirements.
During pre-season, two weeks prior to season, we train twice a day. During season, we train just about every day. After season, we get off for a few months. In the spring, which is coming up soon for us, we train every other day and have weights in between. During road trips, we usually miss some school. I'd say we miss about 1-2 days of school every week or every other week. Just depends.
-
That's awesome about your road trips, travel gear and everything, .. you must feel so pro.
Any chance of you getting drafted by MLS teams? ;)
When you travel, do you have like your own coach bus? And let's say you got kicked off the school team, does that mean you have to pay for the rest of your school years?
-
No real chance of going to the MLS. I'm just now getting to a close 100% regarding my knee. It sucks because it put me and my development back a lot. I'm still competitive though so it's OK.
Yes, we travel in coach buses. It's not bad. Kinda uncomfortable but very fun to be with the team.
If you get kicked off the team, you will lose your scholarship after the semester or school year. Sometimes they write up the scholarship on a yearly basis but sometimes by semester. If you have a yearly one and you get kicked off the team in the middle of the school year, you will keep your scholarship until the end of the year. They can't take it from you. If you have it per semester, you will not have to pay until the end of that semester, but after that you will have to pay up. Hope that makes sense.
-
Do you know anyone that has a chance of making it to the MLS?

Yeah. A guy that just graduated here got a trial with FC Dallas. He's still waiting to find out if he made it or not. Another guy went to try out for Houston but didn't make it. He was going for a few other trials, but broke his leg in our alumni game. Real shame. Then there's Davy Arnaud who now plays for the Kansas City Wizards. He actually got a cap for the US as well. He played on my college team the year before I got there.
Also, I played club soccer with a guy named Joseph Lapira. He got a cap with the Irish team and won the Hermann Trophy in the NCAA last season. He was also top goal scorer. I tried sending him a message on Facebook the other day about what he's doing now. I'm still waiting for a reply. I think he might be trying out for some teams in Europe.
EDIT: Looks like Lapira has been drafting by your Toronto team Borg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Lapira
-
Amazing. Please share the reply later. Maybe I can get free tickets. :)
