Title: CONCACAF Matchday: October 15, 2008
Post by: ^_^ on Oct 14, 2008, 08:57: AM
Well the United States have qualified already and are set to give some of thier fringe players a test. What young players do you feel will be able to pass this test? It's going to be a good game vs a hungry Trinidad side, in Trinidad (i believe)

Honduras is also playing Jamaica; Jamaica is fresh off a win vs Mexico which is a huge confidence booster to any CONCACAF side; Honduras on the other hand are fresh off a great win vs Canada, with plenty of Honduran players looking confident on and off the ball. Honduras is needing a win or a draw to advance to the next round.

I think the Honduras will get a gritty 1-0 win out of this game; I can see the determination in players like Palacios and Costly, enough to be able to snag three points for los Catratchos.

Can't wait for tomorrow!

most of them are players we've seen.  they should do fine.  jose torres is the only true unknown quantity.  michael orozco and troy perkins are the only players with 0 caps.

i'd like to see michael orozco work his way into the fold.  he adds a different dimension to the center back position.  troy perkins is good, but i doubt that he will see significant action in the years to come

i love when coaches put in the no names; that's how Eddie Johnson turned into a prolific striker for a while (no name on the national team). the forward position is weak on the US in my opinion; Wolff, Ching, and Johnson aren't cutting it. Dempsey isn't really a forward either, from what I have seen of him. The US can't continue, and can't afford, to have strikers that are out of form  or that just aren't good enough.

It won't be long before the US get's thier Fernando Torres or thier Eto'o, but in the mean time Bradley has to experiment in games like this in order to find another striker with the potential to take on a goal scoring burden.

Other matches today:

Cuba vs Guatemala
Mexico vs Canada
Costa Rica vs Haiti
El Salvador vs Suriname

Looks like it's going to be a good matchday. Costa Rica is sitting pretty with 12 points, with El Salvador behind them. Guatemala needs a win to assure they go in behind the US leaving Trinidad behind.

FUUUCKING JAMAICA :cursing:

Man, I can't believe that we just lost; although it was in Jamaica, a hostile atmosphere, I was expecting at least a tie :bang:

trinidad also beat the US 2-1; a really youthfilled US squad, but a loss to Trinidad?! Should be doing better than that.

What is it with this group? Do the top X go through to the World Cup or do they only advance to the next round of qualifying games?

Canada must beat Jamaica and/or we must tie or beat Mexico now to advance. What a mess :cursing:

Is Mexico going to go to the next round? Seems like they are struggling.
