keep the anti-american soccer to yourself. i know the fans don't know shit, but the league's much better than most give it credit. if you dislike it just keep it to yourself and watch your european leagues.

soccer leagues in america have a history of spending themselves into oblivion.  they are taking their time

which teams are best/most popular there?

galaxy, dynamo/earthquakes, dc united.  although, it varies a lot more than you would expect from year to year

as a general rule of thumb, root against this guy:

TFC has the largest and most devoted fan base, but it's not as widespread. We pack BMO Field every game, though.

Only like the Red Patch Boys support and a few other people. Everyone else just goes to say they went there, it's like that at Leaf games too. People who don't even like the sport just go to go.. if that makes sense.

no what im saying about"soccer" is , it never will be big in the states, listen to ruud gulits interview, nobody over there wants it to challenge all the other sports, and it never will.

the most annoying thing they do is stick gay names on the end of the teams for markerting.eg.galaxy,red bulls etc, they was thinking about doing this if english teams went abroad, to make lesser teams sound more attractive but theres no point.

another reason why they wont be able to challenge the other leagues aprart from being this 600th national sport and sniffing there own farts out of a cup and the charity wankathon, is the fact the money, they have salary caps, none of the games are telivised etc

and can you guys stop calling it fuckin soccer, how would you like it if i called american football egg shape throw forward, have a ten minute break throw the egg again, or if i call basket ball be tall and play, if your small sell your hamster on ebay, its so fuckin annoying,

Oh and did you know football actually first made in bs china, thats something you didnt know

In spanish its futbol; in italy its calcio; it just so happens that in the US it's called soccer. of course it'd be nice if it was called football, but chill the fuck out homie; it's just a name.

it can't right now.  you take what you can.  the summer is a down period for sports in the us.  it'd be suicide (it'd be buried) to try to play through the fall and spring.  friday, saturday, and sunday football in the fall with baseball and basketball intermixed

Quote

the money is getting there.  salary caps are there to prevent the league from spending itself into oblivion a la the nasl.  ALL of the games are televised

seriously?  i don't give a flying fuck what you call basketball or football.  i'm going to call soccer soccer for clarity's sake.  you sound like a real cocksucker if you (if you are an american) go around telling people that you play/watch "real" football (here).  they're fucking sports.  different names for different things in different countries

Thats what the old Spanish guy who didn't speak much English that I met at the park kept saying when he talked about football, then he proceeded to ask me if De Stefano and Puskas. I had to break it to him that one of them is dead and the other had a heart attack and is struggling to walk.

Then when I asked if he knew Raul he asked me who?

Good lad.

The only thing that annoys me about the whole soccer/football thing is that American football took the term "football" to name their sport. I think that's such shit.

1.  there's speculation as to where the word football came from
2.  it just happened that way.  the games are related.  it's not like the word was arbitrarily "stolen"

languages are never good things to claim

i'll quote myself:

Quote
1.  there's speculation as to where the word football came from
2.  it just happened that way.  the games are related.  it's not like the word was arbitrarily "stolen"

if anything, we earned the right to decide what was what

 (i would like to add that i respect england.  i mean, we are essentially the same fucking people.  i'll root for england before i'll root for almost anyone else before the us)

at the end of the day, it's a sport.  no one meant anything by it.  there's no reason to get worked up about it.  it was within the natural progression of things

hehehe, nah i dont really know too much about the league,  but i would like Toronto FC to go far, they clearly have a passionate support and a good atmosphere, plus i feel sorry for candians, the only good thing in their country is maple syrup
