i know we shouldnt take rankings seriously and shit, but i think i needs an update, anyone agree? it was last updated january the 6th and a lot has happend since
I know the rankings dont mean out, but i think it would be good, to have some new ones,
thoughts?

i think we should wait until after the world champs in november in sao paulo. that way we can judge performances of the people from that competition. the rankings are probably meaningless(no less than the fifa rankings are), but they are fun. the ranking should take a real shake up from last time too. there are alot more people we know about. also how can mr. woo really only be almost in. i know he does no lowers, but his control moves are still second to none. he almost never drops the ball, and he still does tricks that no one else does. theres others that gotta make it this time, but i could go on all day about that.

oLi was going to update the rankings a while ago. I'm not sure what happened with it. We could arrange a time to meet on MSN for it.
oLi, please let me know if you are still interested. We need a group of about 5 people who are up to date on the top freestylers. Feel free to post if you want to be a judge. Only the most qualified will be invited to the meeting.

The Rankings need to scrapped, and re-made considering all aspects of freestyle right now!
Who is consistent in LP's, who are being creators, those who have gone into hiding should be dropped, new faces are necessary.
Or else I propose that there be no rankings at all :thumbsup:

That would generate BIASED rankings then, based on favourites. Theres no agreeable outcome on this.

Jeon Kwon should be at the top Skora should go up as well FX should go down since he can only do airmoves and has very poor uppers and sits, thats my opinion. actually there are so many freestylers that are just as worthy to be on the list as many of the guys that are already there.

Why ? Have you ever seen a ranking in any other sport ..lets say tennis or basket ball where the training videos count ?

Good point! Everyone can be amazing in a video. But not everyone can be amazing in first try.

good point. btw 200kph isnt nadals best and nor is it a record or anything of any spectacular comparisent on wat ur saying to rule training vids.

I'm agree, but not only the lps, because they who win lp competitions arn't always the one who does the best air, sits and upper trick, but the best show tricks. You can't use tennis as an example, In freestyle you don't always train for a competition, you train to get a good combo, on film or not. But in tennis you just train for maches. you don't make training vids! and freestyle isn't all about competitions, you also make vids. So I think it should be based on lps and vids.
But I understand what you mean!

i have to agree with daniel. the most important thing to be considered is lps. this shouldn't be based on who won competitions, but how a group of whoever this sit chooses to be experts thinks that they performed. videos should allow some to get votes if the person does something special like inventing a new trick or breaking a record. the most weighted should be on lps, but we need to allow this little opening for those special things that happen in videos every now and than.

Pretend that i make a video and shoot footage for 5 months.. and in that video i make some amazing no touch combos and other cool stuff.. Then another make a pretty similar video as mine, but he only need to film for just 5 hours and nail pretty much every thing in the video on first try.
If someone is going to judge us based on the videos, they will put us straight after each other in the list. Even if the other guy is 10 times better than me. I dont care who is in the list or not in... but i just want to say its really really hard to decide who's the best out of videos.
And the tennis player can make training videos if he want. But the video don't prove a shit about how good he is, cause he can been filming that really hard serve he got on tape, for many hours.....

it isn't the same (about video)... it's like we (you) can give judging to 'simple' people ( who don't freestyle) and they will decide who's the best... in lps we can see perform trix (mostly) and hardcore freestyle (from Skora, for example) and how will we compare it? skatw to some stalls? o.O and what will win? it's be different becoz of different views on freestyle by freestyles...
so, my opinion, we should do top ranking by Lps and by videos too :) 2 lists :rolleyes:

Wouldn't it be best to work it out this way...
Make a list of: Top 10-20 uppers freestylers
Top 10-20 Air move/combo freestylers
Top 10-20 Sitdown freestylers
Top 10-20 grounds freestylers
And maybe could possibly add Top 10-20 performers. I think if there is a list of all these then you can work out an average of who is the best all around freestyler by where they are on each list.
It's a pretty simple format to work with and if anybody can get all these lists together it shouldn't be too hard to do the averages.

I'm partly agree on the lp opinion. F. Eks. John Farnworth; He's not the best freestyler in the world (no offense) but he's one of the best in lp's. Skóra should win anyways.

probably the best idea was ash's, but it would be alot of work making the lists for all of these. you would also have to lists of overall control to include other types of tricks like stalls and heel juggling. lps have to be the most important, but videos should be considered.

take both videos and LP's into account, but pay more attention to LP's. it's true some ppl don't get to do LP's and only make videos... but LP's have MUCH more worth than videos do. it's releasing a video on the internet to be admired by a buncha guys on a forum... as opposed to... getting contracts, sponsorships, half time shows, etc. etc. etc.
and it's silly to divide categories into lower, upper, sits, etc. it's much better to be like nam the man... he can transition from one to another like they're all the same thing... like they're all the part of a same routine/performance. even tho, u might not say he's the best at one single thing.

i agree with the most active yet i disagree on the jf opinion but im not bothered atm aslong as ppl dont say tatsulow this tatsulow that because hes made not many videos and he hasnt proved himself in lps i dont think please prove me wrong we need proper freestylers in there like palle and skora

True no-one should be voted if they have mental air, there is more to freestyle than air. Like take Skora he has improved alround, maybe air is his strongest but he realised that he needs more. In the whole of Poland I would say only 3 freestylers max are potential for the rankings if any and those would be:
Clyde
Skora
MichRyc
Freestyle is alround and you should judge them on LP rather than other shit. Like Dan Magness would easily get a bigger crowd than Palle simply because he has more show tricks and the presence that he is there not that he is just freestyling on his own. So like my recommendations would be like:
John Farnworth
Dan Magness
Mark Tiernan
Jeon Kwon
Daniel Boomsjakie
Timo
Those kinds of freestylers, they are stand out and have their own creative style, not copying people just doing what they do cause they love the sport.

Maybe not, but look at his skill level, anyways. He'll maybe come with some other videos in 2008 also, he used to have xmas films and stuff.

I noticed this thread has 5 pages and not more than a few posts have actually helped me.
I've gotten alot of work done on the list with help from a few others. I'll work alot more and try to get more feedback. If you guys can then please try to state some names you would see on the list based on

recent performances
result in recent freestyle tournaments

Oli, these are my opinions :thumbsup: :
1. Javi must be in the top 20 because he's a very good allrounder wid a very sexy style :3some: , he've done good in his past performances also :D
2. I think Tobias Becs must jump to the top 20 listy also cuz he has a very smooth style , sexy allround and mastered patw
3. Skora must jump a few steps higher but i dont think for the top 5 because i almost never saw him allround =O!
4. Michryc and clyde are very creative freestylers which i think must be in the top 20 list!

Pedro, clyde and oli should be in the list. The almost in list should be cleaned from not so good freestylers and many other freestylers like brizze for example should be in the almost in list. JK deserve a place in the list too. skora on top three, no doubt.

Nam should be higher - having won 2 European Champs, and Red Bull Ireland.
Palle should be up there too at the top - his transformation from hardcore to smooth LP's should be regarded highly.
Jeon Kwon has exploded on the scene with some amazing stuff, and many of us have witnessed him Live and he is truly amazing, so he should be in top 5.

you havent met john... otherwise you would accept that he is the best.... at least he is for me. i think the one who does the list should have met some of the crazy great freestylers..... because the live impression is very important. but videos are also a big criterium. i think oLi and his ''hlepers'' will do a good job.

Matt hasn't showed much lately unforunately. Big fan of his and I'd love to see something of him to put him on the list.
Other than that I thank you for your help Mark, seems we have atleast somewhat alike opinions.

Jeremey Lynch has tones of videos and new 1s, mat is fucking amazing and just relased a vid like a month ago, touzani still makes vids tho hes not that great and shud be out, leiki is like gone, golo hasnt made a vid in a long time from what ive seen
