yeah also the rise in hooliganism Galliani was attacked by Roma fans at the presidents funreal people throwing bottles of water and booing and a ex Juve player whos managing Cagliari i think was assualted by some Lecce fans.

Juves signings havnt been too bad.

Alex Manninger (GK)
Olof Mellberg (DF)
Dario Kneževi? (DF) Loan
Christian Poulsen (MF)
Albin Ekdal (MF)
Amauri (FW)

plus i think Andrade has fully recovered now.

One problem though too many top class strikers.

Del Piero, Amauri, Trezuguet and Iaquinta

Couldn't agree with you anymore on the Juve part. They played great football last season without a team of stars. They just know how to play together and they have some talented young players in Giovinco, Chiellini, etc. They'll be in the top 3 again.

As far as Inter is concerned, I think they made the right decisions. Mourinho needs his Essien at Inter so he bought Muntari. He might not be as good as Essien right now but he's a hell of a player. The team is already loaded in just about every position so there's no need for drastic changes. They've always needed to get a bit more tactical and now they'll get that with Mourinho.

The Serie A kicked off today and Mourinho's Inter Milan only managed a tie against Sampdoria. It was a pretty good match, Mancini looked good.

Inter ran the show in the first half and Sampdoria was better in the second half. Had Cassano only settled that ball when he was put through... Mourinho could've been off worse.

Zlatan was a dick out there, especially to Mario when Mario wouldn't make the perfect run.

And how is Figo still starting. The guy just keeps hanging around...

AC Milan played some great football though. They deserved to win that match. Ronaldinho was back to his best and you could tell he was enjoying being out there. He was playing with a smile on his face again. Too bad the Milan strikers couldn't finish any of the chances he created for them, especially Sheva. When you are in poor form, it just seems you can shake off the bad luck.

I think Milan will be OK though. They looked good even though it was against a newly promoted team. Bologna scored a very nice goal and made the most of their few chances.

Anyone know when Kaka comes back?

Inter Milan was also unable to win their first game with Mourinho. I wasn't too impressed with their play either. After they took the lead, they let the other team take over. Cassano should've made something of his chance after the game was tied, but he couldn't settle the ball.

theres no Roma talk in this thread
Inter has too much injuries
Milan are defensively weak
Juve have to get use to life in the Serie A again
So ROMA will win the league this time around as soon as Totti come back the team will fly high till then Babtista and Vucinic will do the job required

What is wrong with AC raugh start I guess. There are plenty of small quality sides in Seria A. Im yet to Catch an Inter-Milan game yet Ive already seen Juve, AC and Roma twice. That team is quality I wonder how Mourinho is using Mancinni, Quaresma, Muntari, Suazo, Vieara certainly lots of quality.
Title: Re: Italy: Serie A
Post by: ^_^ on Sep 16, 2008, 03:13: AM
Actually, Suazo has moved to Benfica on loan. I think that's bullshit, he's always been much more quality than fucking Julio Cruz :cursing:

Wow strange move by Mourinho the boy is quality. Crespo was kept at the club even tho he stated that he wanted to leave. Still saying hes saying he is leaving unless he get playing time. Maybe Crespo is in Mourinhos plans this season.  :dontknow:
Title: Re: Italy: Serie A
Post by: ^_^ on Sep 16, 2008, 04:17: AM
Yeah, I don't approve. Suazo led Serie A from Cagliari in scoring 2 years ago, and rarely got his chance to shine last year on Inter, but when he played, he played well. And now they cut him loose without giving him a real chance. I'm dissapointed; I'm not a big fan of Inter after this.

Inter has not been very good so far. Their win last weekend came because of a lucky goal that actually never crossed the line.

AC Milan is making the same mistakes as Barcelona and attacking too much. They are too prone to the counter attack, especially for the way Italian teams play conservatively.

Sampdoria 1-1 Chievo

A thrilling game at the sodden Luigi Ferraris ended with honours even, although Samp will feel that they should have taken all three points.

The first twenty minutes were all Samp, with Squizzi having to do well to deny Delvecchio and Cassano early on.

However, lone Chievo forward Pellissier was linking up well with Langella, leading to a rather close-fought first half.

Still, Samp had the best of the chances overall, and just after the break Franceschini gave the hosts a deserved lead. A wonderful ball in from Cassano out wide found Franceschini all but unmarked, and Squizzi could do nothing about the finish.

But just one minute later Chievo were back on level terms. Pellissier's excellent cross met Langella in the area, and Mirante was let down by his defence as the winger slammed the ball home.

As the rain continued - and the odd thunderburst drowned out the fans' noise - chances grew fewer and further between.

Lecce 1-1 Siena

A free and open game at the Via del Mare ended honours even - perhaps an appropriate result.

Although Curci was busy early on, Siena took the lead just before the break after Rossettini set up Ficagna for a close-range opener.

Antunes then allowed Siena to pull off a countrer, but recovered to clear off the line to prevent a 2-0 scoreline at half time.

Ten minutes after the restart Lecce were on level terms thanks to Caserta's neat finish.

The game began to slow down as full-time came, Siena playing a containing game, and 1-1 it ended.

Palermo 2-0 Genoa

A goal in each half gave Palermo a merited victory over a Genovese outfit that seemed weary from the long road south.

That's not to say that the rossoblu offered nothing: rather it's that their challenges came too early and died out too quickly. A fine counter half an hour in, for example, saw Milito's effort saved by Amelia, but Genoa failed to build on their momentum.

Instead Cavani gave the hosts the lead just a few minutes before the break. Simplicio's assist into the area was textbook stuff, but Cavani's finish - off the underside of the bar - was even better.

Emboldened, Palermo pushed further forward, and Bovo duly made it 2-0 on the hour mark. A lovely long ball from Liverani found the stopper, who made no mistake with a crashing drive past Rubinho.

It was hard to see Genoa fighting back after that and, indeed, they did not.

Catania 1-0 Atalanta

A second half strike from Michele Paolucci was enough to give the Sicilian's all three points at the Stadio Massimino. Atalanta dominated for long spells but it wasn't enough as Walter Zenga's men held on.

Torino 1-3 Inter

Despite a late scare, Inter had a relatively comfortable afternoon in Turin as they ran out 3-1 winners against Torino, the goals coming from Maicon, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and an own goal by Marco Pisano, while Elvis Abbruscato found the net for the home side.

Roma Comfortably Beat Reggina
Roma 3-0 Reggina

Roma earned their first victory of the season with a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Reggina, the goals coming from Christian Panucci, Alberto Aquilani, and Simone Perrotta.

Week 7
October 18th Results

Fiorentina 3 - 0 Reggina
Napoli 2 - 1 Juventus

October 19th Results
AC Milan 3 - 0 Sampdoria
Bologna 3 - 1 Lazio
Catania 2 - 0 Palermo
Chievo 1 - 1 Atalanta
Genoa 1 - 0 Siena
Lecce 2 - 2 Udinese
Torino 0 - 1 Cagliari

Roma - Inter Milan (19:30 Kick off)

What poor starts from Juventus and Roma with 9 and 7 points.

AC Milan are now 5th thanks to 2 goals from the "past it" Ronaldinho and a late goal from Inzaghi.

Funny how the top 3 are all lower name Serie A teams.

Udinese
Catania
Napoli

all on 14 points.

This weeks games seem much more interesting than the boring premiership with 3 0-0 draws and maybe another one if Tottenham or Stoke dont score. Just a shame no channel in the UK has rights to broadcast Serie A.

I'm not happy about Fiorentina winning right before they face Bayern in the Champions League.

Gilardinho is the top scorer in Italy right now. It's amazing how much of a difference it can make when you just switch teams. Playing with Mutu doesn't hurt either...

I'm very happy for Ronaldinho as well.

You will eat your words if they continue with there form in the bundesliga

Has anyone heard about Juventus moving back in to the Della alpi after playing in torinos ground for 3 season due to renevations they have made the stadium about 20k less seats apperently. Also Inter will be building a new stadium and Milan will be keeping the San Siro and Roma and Lazio are both building there own stadiums so stadio olympico will be used only for international sports.

Because he is a hell of a playmaker. Same goes for Van der Vaart. When he played for Hamburg, the team was 10x better.

You will eat your words if they continue with there form in the bundesliga

No, no... I meant in the past. He had quite a few injuries with Hamburg and every time he didn't play the team was very average. When he was fit to play, they were immediately a top 3 team in the Bundesliga.

They are doing good right now but that's partially because of Martin Jol and some of the players they've brought in (Petric). You know they'd be even better if they had VdV. I think he would guarantee them a top 2 finish.

hahaha i love that saying, julio baptista is really a beast right now, his runs from the wing were incredible, thats what a new club does for u

but this brings the discussion that the big italian clubs rely on their big players. Inter need ibra, roma need Totti, milan need kaka and inzagi

Keepers kept busy in the first two Seria A games of the week
Napoli   3 - 0   Lecce
Bologna   5 - 2   Torino

like Fifa rhetorically ask "Who would wanna be a keeper on a day like this?"

A free kick was curled in from the left, Arthur made a brilliant save from Samuel's header, but Ibrahimovic was on hand to put home the rebound. However, replays showed that Samuel was clearly offside in the original phase, and the goal shouldn't have stood.

Lazio - Torino
Lazio dropped to 11th after a crazy start to the season and in football one win turn into a run of them and Torino are currently 18th n the table so can this be the game to turn Lazios season around.

Napoli - Bologna
Napoli 8th and are eyeing a Champions league spot but if Marco Di Vaios men can beat them then they will surely be out of that race.

Siena - Udinese
in 12th and 13th spot respectively and 4 point separating them this game has little to offer

Cagliari - Lecce
on opposite ends of the table both teams are looking for win for different reasons

Genoa - Fiorentina
in 4th and 5th place both are going all out to claim the final Champions League spot and with Roma just over their shoulder anything less than a win could be catastrophic for both teams

Chievo - Catania
both teams in the bottom half Chievo needing the win more as they are in 19th spot and likely to be relegated

Atalanta - Roma
Roma on a wild run as of late and yet to be defeated in 2009 want atleast 4th spot so they can be in the CL next year but a resugent Atlanta side are in their way.

Juventus - Sampdoria
with 12 team separating them Juve need the points to keep pressure on run away Inter while Sampdoria want to put their season back together after a dismal start

Reggina - Palermo
Palermo looking to be in a European competition go to a Reginna side rooted to the bottom of the table

Inter Milan - Milan
(Check Inter Milan - Milan Thread)

Class goal, You'll find not many keepers would've saved it or expected a 107 km/h shot from 32 m. Not even including the swerve that shot took, it would've been hard to deal with.
