let me get it underway
-France > Brasil
-England isn't top 5 national teams in the world and never was
-At some point in his career Riquelme should have been named world player of the year probably would have been named if he was European, Brazilian or playing for a bigger club. Has to be the best player Argentina has had since Maradonna and should be named along with the legends some day.
-Messi is the most overrated footballer today
-Manchester United is the most overrated club in football
-The level of football has declined over the passed few years, back then when it came to world player of the year you had Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Shevchenko, Roberto Carlos, Dennis Bergkamp, Rivaldo, Suker, Batistuta ect ect you could argue this one or that one deserved it. Nowa days its only Kaka and you can't really argue against it.
-Zidane is the greatest of all time.
-C Seedorf should also be mentioned among the all time greats.
-Liverpool did not deserve to win 2005 CL
-The best leagues in the eourope right now are as follows La Liga> Seria A > Premier League
Opinions you have that people usually tend to disagree with. And if you disagree or agree with someones unpopular opinion let it be heard.
add on. ill add more later........
-
Are these your opinions?
France > Brasil on the basis of what? Two games? Like, Mexico and thier winning record vs Brasil. Mexico is better than Brasil!!
Messi is miles ahead than Riquelme ever was. Sorry to break the news for you. He even does things Maradona did. It is true, don't deny the fact.
-
messi is not overrated, its a pity seedorf is not respected by many dutch as he is at AC Milan, Premier League>Primera Division>Bundesliga 1>Serie A, man utd is also not overrated ( i do not support them)
-
melbourne, some of those are really crap to be honest.
1) Requelme Player of the Year? You said it yourself, the likes of Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Sheva, Carlos, Del Piero, etc were all playing during their prime. I would not give it to Requelme over any of those. During every year, at least a few of those players as well as many others played better and more important roles than Riquelme.
2) The level of football has declined of the past years. I don't know about that really. I guess it's a decent arguement but we still have great experienced players as well as far more quality youngsters that are playing immense at the moment. Previously, we did not have as many superstars at such young ages. Also, Kaka is not the only great player out there right now. To say that is stupid. He is not much better than Ronaldo or Messi. Face it. Just look at his team and their performance in Serie A. If Ronaldo's or Messi's team was playing that poorly, I'm sure you'd have a go at Messi or Ronaldo, yet you put no blame on Milan's key player.
3) Liverpool did not deserve to win 2005 CL. And neither did Man U when they beat Bayern in 2000. And neither did a lot of other teams. Luck and your quality of play during a few matches can win the tournament for you. It's as simple as that. By the way, I'm not disagreeing with you on this one that much. I just think you have to give them credit for tactically outsmarting teams and never giving up. After all, Liverpool was the team that has probably given us the best CL final we will see for the next 10 years.

Miles ahead of Riquilme? thats thats absurd Messi is fighting for a spot on the Barcelona side only made 63 appearances since 03. He wins nothing last year and he is still made 2nd in Player of the year thats laughable. Riquelme was screwed over by Barca soon as he moved to Villareal they became title contenders and where one game away from a Champions league final. Messi would not have that kind of impact. If he wasn't playing for a big team like Barca most of you would have hopped off his dick after the youth world cups. Just because Maradona said he is my successor? remember Maradona said Rooney is as good as him LMAO (he is only trying to stay relevant by coming out and saying this shit). Argentina can't function as efficiently as they do without Riquelme thats why they continue to call him back.
Requelme Player of the Year? You said it yourself, the likes of Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Sheva, Carlos, Del Piero, etc were all playing during their prime. Those 2 years that Ronaldiniho won one of them should have been Riquelmes, The one where Dinho helped barca win the CL and La Liga he deserved should have gone to Riquelme. Even expert coaches and football analysts share this opinion. On of the greatest players never to win player of the year.

No one can argue that Ronaldo or Messi deserved it more than Kaka. Ronaldo understandable hes helped United win a premier ship. What on earth has Messi done to even get mentioned.
I don't think you understood the concept of the topic its unpopular opinions most people disagree with them. Everyone who knows football has them post some of your own.

I'll post mine soon.
Kaka WAS better last season and that's why he won the award. The award doesn't fully consider what's happening this year. He has not done so well this year. So far, Ronaldo has been better.
And Ronaldinho deserved the World Player of the Year award much more than Requelme. Ronaldinho re-evonutionalized the game that year and played at an unbelievable level every single game. You can't say that he didn't. Requelme is a choker as well... look at him miss the penalty against Arsenal in the CL, not making it at Barcelona (for whatever reason, he still didn't make it... no excuses), and then he gets the boot at Villareal. Looks like he's a bit of a shaky professional to say the least. I'm still a bit shocked that you think Riquelme did better than Ronaldinho the year Barca won everything.
-
Let me correct that typo. The one they won he deserved, but the other one should have gone to Riq.
Kaka WAS better last season and that's why he won the award. The award doesn't fully consider what's happening this year. He has not done so well this year. So far, Ronaldo has been better.
I'm talking about last year, this year is not over yet.
Also how they gonna put Messi Ahead of Drogba? Last season he was an animal he preformed every game won 2 trophies with Chelsea and helped Chelsea reach the CL semis. if Ronaldo was mentioned than Drogba should be as well but he is not. What about Totti he scored the most goals in Europe and he did it from Midfield. The award is getting stupid its seems to be going to who ever is selling the most shirts or has the highest overall in fifa 07. Its pathetic.

so so true. this is why i think Serie A is always in the shadow of world media (for its good reasons) for example Toni scored 33 goals in one season for Serie A. people just said ohhh its a far less superior league. Look at what hes doing now at Bayern Munich. Totti's season last season was amazing along with Bianchi's who proved he can provide goals yet in the Prem he was hardly played and when he did play he scored or provided assists. it wasnt long before he was forced back to Italy. Chelsea signed Crespo who didnt do too bad but he was quickly whored out on loan which he shined at AC Milan which is clear during the CL 2005 and is performing well for Inter at this day. peple just say ohh its Serie A's quality which is Poorer according to most thick cunts who hang around pubs all day talking about football like they invented it when half the rumours they say are from The Sun Newspaper which has more shit and rubbish than www.goal.com Serie A clubs prove all the time in competitions and the same with the Italian national team. The premiership is just far over hyped. and the style of play is not too great at times and are different from other leagues. proving that Serie A is a dominant league.
If the first things that come to your mind when Serie A is mention is "cheats" then you are clearly not open to the other cheating and scandoulous ways of the other leagues over the seasons.
CL Final AC Milan - Marseille (won) - it was revoked because of fixing
Football Bungs several premiership managers illegally approaching youth players
The recent premiship club raid with portsmouth, newcastle, rangers
German Cup Final a few years ago fixed
Arsenal paying a belgian club £1 million to find youth players
theres plenty of other examples.

Why would I post someone else's opinions?
Just wondering because they are very shitty.
I'm talking about right now France > Brasil.
Not many teams are better than Brasil. Argentina learned that lesson in the summer. Meanwhile, France was off losing to Scotland or something struggling for a spot in the Euro.
Miles ahead of Riquilme? thats thats absurd Messi is fighting for a spot on the Barcelona side only made 63 appearances since 03.
Messi is just back from a month or so's injury. Fighting for a spot? Are you really paying attention to what is going on?
He wins nothing last year
It bothers me when people act as if one man wins trophies, I remember the last time Barcalona won something and it sure as hell was won by 11 players not one.
Messi would not have that kind of impact.
Right, because, you just know.
What on earth has Messi done to even get mentioned.
Again, you fail to realize that one man does not win trophies. Teams do, that is why the trophies have the team name on it.

EPL isn't the best league today wasn't yesterday and will not be tomorrow
the whole play is shit
the games are predictable
the tempo is slow
i can make a list the size of canada but i don't the time
Seria A> La Liga> EPL>French Orange 1
-
how many players have done that in their lives. riquelme is much better then messi. i realy like this topic.
one of the greatest in football history
the EPL is one of the worst league in football history. i'd rather play in the greek league then there. it has no tempo. its just kick it to the other side and shoot from 30 or so yards out

nicely said Moby
EPL is all long ball (specially Bolton)

Well said Chenko. Seria is a great league the way the Seria A teams rip up the CL is proof of this. Sure they have some crowd problems and low turn out on game day, but every league has its problems. Premiership looks like the best league in the world because of the way its marketed, if you show it more than the other leagues on tv around the world people have no choice people will like it more specially those who do not know much about the other leagues. This is usually the case in America, Australia, Canada and Asia. I remember when I was in Africa we used to go to the saloon Tuesday Seria A day used to get the most people. Premier League day wasn't as popular everyone used to talk about and support Italian clubs their was a real buzz about the league. I like premier league don't get me wrong but last season around semifinal time when 3 teams made the semis and EPL coaches/people where saying premier league is a superior to other leagues angered me and Milan still end up winning it.

You've convinced me he totally deserved to be second best player in the world I have never seen goals like those.
You do realize Drogba has scored better goals and more important goals than those. :nopity:
Ronaldo played a key role for united, Kaka played a key role for Milan of course players influence the way games and campaigns go for teams. Messi did not why should he be mentioned in front of key players like Drogs, and Totti?
the EPL is one of the worst league in football history. i'd rather play in the greek league then there. it has no tempo. its just kick it to the other side and shoot from 30 or so yards out

You've convinced me he totally deserved to be second best player in the world I have never seen goals like those.
Messi is currently leading Barcalona in goals in La Liga, the same Barcalona with Thierry Henry, Samuel Eto'o (a bit injury plagued), Ronaldinho, Deco, Iniesta, these very stars that "outshine" him. Last season, only Ronaldinho had more goals than him. And you are still thinking that he is having trouble breaking into the first team?
I've shared Messi's "resume" before and I don't mind doing it again. Compared to Riquelme's:
20 Year old Lionel Messi:
Golden Ball: FIFA U-20 World Cup: 2005
Golden Boot: FIFA U-20 World Cup: 2005
Golden Boy: 2005
Bravo Award: 2007
World Soccer Young Player of the Year: 2006, 2007
Olimpia de Plata: Argentinian Player of the Year: 2005
FIFPro World Young Player of the Year: 2006
FIFPro World XI: 2007
EFE Trophy: Best Ibero-American Player in La Liga: 2007
Best foreign player in La Liga: 2007
Copa America Best Young Player: 2007
France Football Player of the Year:
3rd place: 2007
World Soccer Footballer of the Year:
2nd place: 2007
FIFA World Player of the Year:
2nd place: 2007
SI Latino's 2007 Sportsman of the Year: 2007
Now compare it to the 29 year old Riquelme's:
2007 Copa Libertadores' Most Valuable Player
2007 Copa Libertadores (Boca Juniors)
2006 Nominated for FIFA World Player of the Year
2005 Nominated for FIFA World Player of the Year
2004 UEFA Intertoto Cup (Villarreal CF)
2001 Copa Libertadores (Boca Juniors)
2001 South American Footballer of the Year
2000 Argentine Apertura Championship (Boca Juniors)
2000 Intercontinental Cup (Boca Juniors)
2000 Copa Libertadores (Boca Juniors)
1999 Argentine Clausura Championship (Boca Juniors)
1998 Argentine Apertura Championship (Boca Juniors)
1997 FIFA's World Youth Championship (under-20)
The fact is, Riquleme failed to put his stamp on a big name club. Every World Player of the year has done this. You go and look at every world player of the year, and you find that they have been able to break into squad of a top notch club in Europe. Riquleme failed in his time at Barcalona. He was then loaned to Villareal where he had been great; mind you, on Villareal. It wasn't even him who lead the team to that semi final, it was due to the brilliant Diego Forlan when he lead La Liga in scoring to secure Villareal a Champions League spot. Yeah, we can start showing videos of brilliant goals, because Riquelme has scored some great goals, but so has Messi. And when it comes down to it, it already looks as if Messi is going to be (i think he already is) one of Barcalona's best players over the next few years. Riquelme did well at Villareal, but did not do well to support his claim of being the world's best by moving to a big club. This is key, this is essential in being the world's best; you must play with the world's best, and be able to shine.
Something i disagree with: Thierry Henry not winning the FIFA World player of the year when he lead England in goals, lead his team to the Champions League Final (Arsenals first), and helped France get to the World Cup Final. Cannavaro ended up winning, which i'm sure most people disagree with. This is also the year Henry broke Arsenal's goal scoring record and move into 3rd in Englands all time scoring list.
-
Haha, to say Riquelme is much better than Messi is :bang:
Messi at the age of 20 is just as good, if not better, than Riquelme ever was. Not only does he score, create, but he also dribbles his way through the impossible. He's a much more dangerous player than Riquelme. It's as simple as that. Riquelme is more of a classic playmaker, but one that can be shut down in a game. He's been shut down quite a few times and most big teams don't want him. There's a reason. Bayern didn't even want to mess with him when he was struggling to get minutes at Villareal.
What about Totti he scored the most goals in Europe and he did it from Midfield.
Totti deserves all the credit but please... he did not play as a midfielder. In most games he played as the forward. Just look at the starting line ups and you'll see that he's playing as the true forward and sometimes just underneath the striker. It's pretty much what Rooney is playing.
C.Ronaldo is more of a midfielder than Totti and he's scoring just as much right now.
I have to go now but I'll go into further detail later if someone wants to comment on my post.
And to finish it, please don't talk so much crap about the Premiership. It's clearly the most entertaining league in the world. And those of you who say it's slow, what the hell have you been watching for the past 5 years? Team like Arsenal and Man U are running things and not just through long balls. I suppose if the last English game you've seen was from 10-15 years ago, then you would have a point. Right now however, that's not the case. The game is fast, powerful, entertaining, and packed with good players even though they are mainly foreign.
Don't get me wrong, Italy and Spain probably have more talent overall, but the game broadcasts, empty stadiums, and cheating is not doing it. Not only that, but the Italian style of play puts me to sleep. I think two mid-table Premiership teams are often more fun to watch than some of the top Italian teams. And if the Premiership is so predictable as someone said, then what the hell is Inter Milan doing?
Melbourne, Messi IS a key player for Barcelona right now. Barca has at least 5-8 superstars on the team so it's not easy to stand out. Messi has been in superb form for 2 years now. I don't know how you can not think that's worth a top 3 mentioning. He does it with class and flair, and is just as effective in creating as your classical playmakers. I know Drogba deserves to be mentioned in the top 3 and he was right around there. It was just that close. I've been watching a shit load of Barcelona games over the past 2 years and Messi really deserves a top 3 mention.
:hello:

When its Henry is fucked over the award is bullshit. But when Totti and Drogba are put below Messi who didn't even come close to them last year its legitimate? what kind of logic is that.
The brilliant Diego Folrlan?. Where was Forlan before Riquelme joined the club and where is he now?. Riq is the one that bough out the best in Forlan with his brilliant play in the midfield.
Messi has a better Resume than Van Nitselroy dose that make him a better player than Nitselroy? I think if Messi needed someone to hold his dick the next time he took a piss he would call a few people in this thread.

To start off, don't overlook things that i say. I want you to confront the fact that Riquelme cannot handle being at a big club, and how he has never been able to even shine at a big club, and I want to hear how you defend this. What excuse do you have for why he cannot get signed by a top European club? Every world player of the year has been on a top team. Where the fuck is Riquelme?
Was Drogba in the Champions League final? Was Drogba in the World Cup Final? In the same year? Is Drogba Chelsea's all time leading goal scorer? No. Drogba had one fantastic season. That's it. How many goals does he have? I've seen Henry get the golden boot in the EPL when he missed quite a few games out injured.
"Where was Forlan before Riquelme joined the club and where is he now?"
Where was he? Manchester United :hello: Right now? He is at Athletico Madrid. 16 appearances, 7 goals. Where the fuck is Riquelme? He had to run back to Boca because he knows that he can't cut it in a top team. Stop denying this fact, stop overlooking it. Even Forlan had a decent little time at Manchester United for 2 years.
Forlan: 106 appearances for Villareal, 54 goals. Hmm that is a little over a goal every other game. His first season there, pichichi
Messi is probably a better all around player than Ruud is, in terms of dribbling ability, speed, and quickness. But Ruud is a fox in the box, and not many can come close to his goal scoring ability. Ruud led the EPL in scoring once, so according to you he should be the world player of the year? Ruud led La Liga last season. World player of the year? :dontknow:
"I think if Messi needed someone to hold his dick the next time he took a piss he would call a few people in this thread."
Stop with your "hardcore" attitude. Stop with all of your remarks that you think make you sound hard. You have the characteristics of an "internet gangster".

How you gonna say Riquelme can't handle playing for a big club when at Barcelona he was played as a winger. I've seen you use the same excuse for Henry not being successful at Juventus. Hypocrite. Boca is not a big club? Boca are South American champions came second in World club competition so technically they are the second best club in the world, don't be stupid.
The diffrence between Forlan and United and Athletico and Forlan at Villareal with Riquelme is that he wasn't top scorer in Europe at united or now at Athletico.
Was Drogba in the Champions League final? Was Drogba in the World Cup Final? In the same year? Is Drogba Chelsea's all time leading goal scorer? No. Drogba had one fantastic season. That's it. And Im sure Messi is all of this seeing as he is 2nd best in the world and Drogba is not. Who are you kidding even you know that these awards are unfair.
What would I gain form trying to look hard on the internet? This is how I would talk to you if we where debating in real life. Your obviously observing too much taking a forum too seriously get a fucking life.. And what make you think I care if a fagot like you on the other side of the world thinks I'm an internet gangster?...

I'm just going to expand on what Adi said about the Premier League..
Look at how close it is, honestly, the top 2, even top 3, are really close, it's like a battle to the finish. Next let's look at the Champion's League spots,.. so many teams battling for that 4th spot. Liverpool may be out of the CL after finishing 2nd last year, .. and then you've got the UEFA Cup spots, those have always been a battle, and ofcourse look at all the teams fighting relegation. No matter which team you support in the Premier League, your team is battling it out. The Premier League has so much flare in it now with all the foreign players, each team has a different style so it's fun to watch. You can expect to see goals, and you will actually see them.
-
When its Henry is fucked over the award is bullshit.
It is worthless to try and debate with someone who throws around curse words and insults, and if that is how you conduct yourself in real life, it is even worse than being an "internet gangster". I'll put it to rest. If it makes you feel better, Drogba should have won
Good day.

Boo... no comments to my posts. I want this to continue.
ELITE is making some great arguments. I think he's making a stronger case than melbourne although melbourne is doing a good job as well.
Boca is a big club with a great following in Argentina, but that's where it stops. The big teams in Europe have a following all over the world and perhaps have much more pressure on them because there is much more competition across Europe than just in Argentina.
Riquelme couldn't cut it in center mid for Barcelona so he got pushed out wide. Not sure whose fault that is but I'm assuming he wasn't better than the other center mids so he got moved out of his position. Getting moved out wide is better than getting moved to the bench.

we are talking about the predictable league that is EPL
-
How is it predictable? Did anyone predict Arsenal would be fighting for 1st place? Didn't everyone say they'd be fighting for a CL spot? Barely anyone predicted this, .. and who knew Bolton would be that far low after finishing what, 5th place last season? Who knew Liverpool would be out of the top 4. Who knew Man City could grab a CL spot?
No one.

Good day.
Relax quit taking everything so seriously, didn't know you where gonna get all emotional on me. Any way good argument you made some interesting points, it kept this boring place interesting for a few days which is what the thread was intended to do.
Boo... no comments to my posts. I want this to continue.

South American teams should not be underestimated in the old Intercontinental cup SA 13-12 EU and since the world club championship was founded in 00 the south Americans won 3 times the Europeans teams won it 1 time they have proven they can mix it with Europe's best. :pimp:
-
It's true but how many European teams take this competition seriously? None of them have until Milan this season when they said they would finally take their full team and expect a committed performance from their players. And guess what, they went out and beat everyone comfortably. Previously, it was just a stroll to finish off the year.
And melbourne, I would like to applaud you for starting this thread. Every time I came to the forum, this was the first thing I checked. Gotta love all the different opinions flying around. I want to start some threads where we have people debating on some good topics. Maybe we can make a thread where we nominate some ideas and then the popular ones can be put into a new thread where we can argue them. After a week, we can have a poll for the winning debaters. We'll call it "The Great Beyond Football Debaters." We can have it in a 3v3 or 4v4 format where 4 people argue against 4 others.
-
Thats a great idea. When I created this thread I thought everyone would also put down some unpopular opinions of their own instead for 2 pages we have only discussed mine. Someone should try a freestyle edition seeing as its the most active section. End of the day nothing personal its all in good fun, having a few insults thrown around only makes for great entertainment.
-
Yeah I agree. I was going to put in some of my opinions, just haven't had the time to sit down and think about it. It seems I'm always in a rush when I get on here now.
Should we start with my new idea or would you rather keep this thread going? :dontknow:
-
Sounds good to me, propose it and see how popular it is it wouldn't be good if too many members are not interested in joining. Its up to you brah. This thread seems its only good for another 2 pages lol.
-
That's a cool idea, would be very interesting.
Like melbourne always says "platinum thread."
-
I'm loving this thread. Shame I lost a bit of interest in football and I can't be arsed to join the debate. :-[
Stop with your "hardcore" attitude. Stop with all of your remarks that you think make you sound hard. You have the characteristics of an "internet gangster".
'cause we all know that "no one likes an internet gangster"

Don't be mad because I can beat you in an argument

-England isn't top 5 national teams in the world and never was
Well, considering they won the World Cup in 1966, I guess they were a top 5 team at some point.
-
It was a sham O0.
Don't be mad because I can beat you in an argument
When did giving up become winning? Should try that sometime.
-
Ask Adi who "won".
-
when i said Milan deserve to the win champions league, all the haters came in numbers arguing about the match fixing allegation's at the start of the year.
-
that paragraph looks incomplete
-
haha i know.
smart post adi
but think of it this way it was played in england and england had huge fan support.
-
So France wasn't one of the top teams when they won it? Same goes for Italy, Brazil, Argentina, and Germany?
Sure it helps a lot, but it's just part of it. I don't think it's enough to take away from being a top team. Having home-advantage isn't going to win you the World Cup alone. The quality of your side is still more important.
-
i think it is.

Martin Oneil - best Manager in the premiership and most underrated.
Gerrard is the best centre mid in the world
Ronaldo >>>> Kaka
Riquleme has never been good enough to win wolrd player of the year.... 1 excellent season does not merit that especially when there where a lot of better players then him... he doesn't have the x factor which is the difference between an excellent player... and a great player... if you cant see that your a fool .
Ashley Young >>>>> robinhio
btw melbourne... elite won

Ashley Yound better than Roniho? You lost. :nopity:
-
I've got 2 votes for the win
But yeah, Robinho is very underrated. He is much better than most people think.
-
just not better then young..... that boys delivery....beats robinhos every time
-
Robinho's job isn't to deliver into the box, although he plays wide. Robinho plays the same role as Cristiano Ronaldo. His job is to beat people and lay it off, get fouled, or score. Ashley Young has a better deliver into the box than Ronaldo as well, doesn't mean much.

ashley young is better the ronaldo ( i may or may not be lieing about that one )
-
You must be lying. ;)
-
He has the potential to be. But will most likely not live up to it.

messi is not overrated, its a pity seedorf is not respected by many dutch as he is at AC Milan, Premier League>Primera Division>Bundesliga 1>Serie A, man utd is also not overrated ( i do not support them)
la liga>EPL>Serie A>Bundesliga
Soccer is played beautifully and impeccably in La liga. Its solid in the EPL, but good only among the top teams. In Serie A, there is too much of a lockdown mentality, and Bundesliga is hitting a bit of a rough period.
-
woow boys calm down here.
ashley young better then robinho are you guys serious.

In the same league as Arsen, Furgusen, Benitez and Junde Ramos your kidding man.
Gerrard is the best centre mid in the world
Are you talking about right now? Because no way in hell is anywhere near greats of all time CM. Right now Cesc Fabregas, Andrea Pirlo, Gago, Micheal Essien still he isn't better than any of them.

Kaka = World player of the year/ Eouropean Player of the year >> Ronaldo = EPL player of the year

Martin Oneil.. smallest squad in the prem.. buys average players and turns them into extremly good players...
ill give you tht arsene wenger and fergie are more successful managers at the moment... but they are at bigger clubs....but i dont think i made my point clear it was a bit vague... wot i should of said was... Martin Oneil - best manager in the premiership this season.... so what i am saying is i think he will win manager of the season IMO.
Gerrard took an average team to win the champions league final.... he has everything.... he can defend..attacked pass...head... he has got it all... unfortunatly he needs to move clubs before he becomes stale. or liverpool need to be shaken up a bit.
at the moment ronaldo is the best player in the world....on current form no1 is better so at this time ronaldo>>>>>kaka
ashley young thing was a bit of a joke with me being a villa fan... i saw u mention robinho and thought it wud be easy to wined you up.

I don't know. I mean, besides William Gallas and Tomas Rosicky, you've got to say that Wenger still goes for low key signings like Eduardo and Adebayor. Then Nicklas Bendtner looks really promising, along with Denilson, Diaby, Song, etc..
Wenger really does make something out of nothing. Their carling cup run was made completely by young players. I think it is remarkable.

Gerrard is the best centre mid in the world

Gerrard is on the same level as Fabregas, Pirlo and Essien. It's too hard to distinguish between these as they all play slightly different center mid roles. Gago is not on their level yet. I would put Guti ahead of Gago, even though he's not as consistent. He's still a better player than Gago.

essien plays the same way as gerrard... doesn't get the goals gerrard gets at the moment though... to be fair this season fabregas has been outstanding.. especially at the start, pirlo is a great player... but i rate gerrard highly.. i think when he is on form there isn't a centre midfielder better

i think the FA came up with the most unpopular idea with the 39th round going abroad

I respect your opinions because football is a game of opinions and no opinions are wrong. I still disagree with them.
-
ok, first of all.
liverpool DID deserve to win cl 05, they fought until the end and they never gave up, thats what makes a great team.
zidane is NOT the best player ever, i think indisputably the best has to be Maradona, i dont give a damn about what he does in his spare time, but on the field he was the best ever, and noone will ever be able to do what he used to do day by day.
Messi is not overrated, he is a amazing player, with amazing skills, a great understanding of what to do when the ball touches his feet, and noone can say hes not great.
Cristiano Ronaldo is disliked by soo many people because of the model and advertisement thing (same as Becks) but CR and DB are both great proffessionals, and they both leave everything on the field, Beckham had one of the most accurate legs in football history, and CR is proving what he can do on the field, every game he plays is a pleasure for the eyes, he always finds the way to humiliate his oponnents.
oliver kahn for me is the best goalkeeper ever.
England has had many teams that deserved top 5 Globaly, you cant say the 1966 dream team, with Charlton, Gordon Banks etc.. diddent deserve top 5.
england has produced loads of great footballers through out the years.
gerrard and riquelme cant be compared, cuz as they play similar positions, one of them (riquelme) is much more forward than Gerrard, but personally gerrard has a better leg (shot, pass, control) riquelme has better vision, definition and dribble.
